Chapter 7- The Chase

Lexy

By the time I arrived to the party, it was 12:45am. But it took me about 15 minutes to walk through the door. I had taken off my jacket because I felt hot. Also needed to fix myself a bit after the ride. I felt like I needed an ice shower. When I finally did walk in, Leila perked up ‘MATE!’

I almost chocked to hear her say that. ‘What did you say?!’ I walked to the closest bar to my right. I grabbed a drink and chugged it. Asked for another one when Leila said, ‘I smell mate’. ‘Who? Where?’ is all, I could say. But then I smelled it, cedarwood with a hint of tequila. I took my other drink but this time I took it down slow. I tried to see who it was coming from but too many people. I didn’t want to walk around with my nose in the air trying to find him. I decided to go to the back of the packhouse to get some fresh air. I just need to cooldown. I took another drink with me while walking through the back of the packhouse.

I decided to take a walk around the room trying to find her. How does she always manage to disappear like that. When I got to the other side of the room, I picked up her scent by the bar. So delicious. So, intoxicating. I needed to find her. The scent was driving Xazul and myself crazy. I didn’t want to make it obvious, but I couldn’t help myself. I followed the scent outside. It lingered by a bench near the fountain in the backyard. In this spot the scent has something else mixed in it. Is an invitingly sweet scent. Almost hypnotizing.

When I walked out to the backyard, I saw a bench by this pretty fountain and sat down. I started to feel the heat in my body increase again. I couldn’t stay there and decided to go for a walk in the woods. I felt like I just needed some fresh air and to take a deep breath. To get away from everyone. I didn’t notice how far I walked. This heat is driving me crazy. Next thing I knew I was in the middle of an opening far from the packhouse. I took a deep breath trying to calm myself when I picked up a repugnant scent. The scent made me gag. I immediately took a stance of defense or attempted to. But the heat wasn’t letting me concentrate on figuring out where the scent was coming from or from who. The more I tried to stand my ground the worse I got.

I saw a huge black figure in the distance, but my vision became blurry. I was trying to stay conscious. To keep my stand but I lost that battle. Right when everything was going dark, I smelled him and then pure darkness. I didn’t even feel when I hit the ground.
