Guess Who Am I…?

Nalani, weakened by days without food and little water, was brought out of her cell alongside her mute maid and taken to an altar in front of a tall, imposing man.

"Bring her forward," he commanded.

The man that was commanding looked about 6'2" with broad shoulders, short black hair, and golden eyes.

The other one, that she recognised was shorter and seemed to be more aggressive as he pushed her with his foot.

“How could they do this, Aa-“

The man glared, “how could they do this…?” The aggressive one corrected himself, and kicked the maid this time.

The maid got up and tried to fight back.

Nalani, struggling, whispered, "We won't submit to you."

The man's golden eyes darkened as he said, "You have no choice. You are mine to command."

"We may be at your mercy now, but we will never surrender our dignity," Nalani replied firmly.

The man raised his hand, ready to tell him to strike her again.

"Prepare to face the consequences of your defiance," the other warned.

Nalani stood up unsteadily and tried to use her hypnosis on the man, but it had no effect.

“I knew it…” he just laughed and walked over to a throne, sitting down comfortably.

"Do you even know where you are?" he asked, looking at her curiously. Nalani remained silent and just smiled faintly.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked again, this time more impatient.

Nalani simply replied, "No."

The man's eyes gleamed as he decided to play a game with Nalani.

"Well, take a guess then. Who do you think I am?" he taunted her.

Nalani furrowed her brow,"Are you... a leader of this place?" she asked, uncertaint.

The man chuckled darkly at her response, liking the confusion.

"No, not quite," he replied, clearly enjoying her struggle to identify him.

"Someone important to the people here?" she ventured, hoping to get some insight.

The man's smirk widened, a cruel glint were seen in his eyes as he shook his head in amusement.

"Wrong again," he sneered.

"A high-ranking official in this region?" she suggested.

The man's laughter went through the chamber like a chilling sound that sent shivers down Nalani's spine.

"Very well. Keep guessing," his voice was low as he continued to toy with her, relishing in her discomfort and confusion.

“Tell me!” Her blood boiled.

"Guess wrong again, and your friend here will suffer," he threatened with a cold and chilly voice this time.

Nalani's heart sank, “what…?” She whispered, “why torture her?”

“Guess.”

"Please, don't hurt her," Nalani pleaded.

"Guess wisely, or she will pay the price," he warned with an unforgiving tone .

Nalani took a deep breath, steeling herself for the next guess, knowing that each wrong answer could bring harm to this maid.

"Are you... a ruthless warlord from these lands?" she ventured, her voice was shaky.

The man's smile twisted into a smirk as he shook his head.

"Wrong again…”

Nalani's heart clenched with dread as she watched helplessly while the man's henchmen seized her mute maid, dragging her away to a corner of the chamber.

"No, please! Stop!" Nalani cried out.

The man repeated his laughter through the room. It felt like a chilling sound that fueled Nalani's fear.

"Guess carefully, or she will suffer," he reminded her, his eyes focused on Nalani.

Nalani struggled to think straight as she racked her brain for another guess, the weight of each decision started bearing heavily upon her.

"A twisted ruler of a dark underworld?" she proposed with a trembling voice.

"Close, but not quite," he signaled his henchmen to inflict pain upon the mute maid.

Nalani's heart wrenched at the sight of her companion's suffering, “please! Hurt me instead of her! Please!” Her eyes filled with soar water.

“Then give me a correct answer, witch.”

"Are you... some kind of a sorcerer who wields dark magic?"

The man's amusement turned to a cold smirk as he considered her guess, thinking of the power he held over their fates.

"Wrong once more," he declared, giving the signal for the torture of the mute maid to continue.

Nalani's eyes filled with more tears as she watched her maid’s face being burnt with a candle wax.

The man was getting more and more twisted pleasure from each wrong guess she made, which was making Nalani’s stomach feel like it was going to explode.

She was trying to figure out who he really was while knowing that her maid's time was running out.

“Please…just tell me who you really are…?”

“Hah…this would not be so fun, after all…you took all the way here for this.”

“Wait a minute…are you-?” She looked straight into his golden eyes.

“So your brainwashed personality isn’t so dumb after all, “I’m…”

“The man I was sent to marry?”

“The correct answer is: the Alpha.”
