Chapter 5 Who Is the Bride?

Alexander tilted his head slightly, squinting as he stared at the empty balcony of the attic.

After a brief silence, he calmly instructed, "You take them in first."

Leander, with a puzzled expression, dared not question Alexander's orders and instead gestured to the groomsmen behind him.

"Let's go, follow me inside!" Leander led the way, and the rest of the Galatea family members stood at the entrance of the Galatea Manor, welcoming them with great excitement.

Little did anyone notice that the real groom had already made his way to the back door of the manor.

A girl strolled leisurely from the back door of the Galatea Manor, humming the wedding march.

Just as she took a few steps, a force grabbed her collar, lifting her off the ground, her feet dangling like a lamb about to be slaughtered.

"Are you trying to escape?"

A deep, cello-like voice filled with danger reached Katherine's ears.

Katherine's head snapped back at the man who had ambushed her, but she immediately recognized Alexander's voice!

Just a moment ago, Alexander had only glanced at her from afar, yet he truly recognized her!

However, it didn't matter; she had a backup plan.

Katherine turned to face Alexander, putting on a sharp voice, and stuttered, "Sir, who... who are you? Why... why are you pulling me?"

Seeing the face of the woman in front of him, Alexander was stunned, as if he had been startled. He abruptly let go of her hand.

The woman in front of him had a face full of moles, thick and bushy eyebrows, and thick lips adorned with colorful eyeshadow. This woman was uniquely ugly.

Katherine was secretly delighted to see Alexander's shocked expression at her disguised appearance!

She pretended to be puzzled and said, "Sir, are you here to pick up the bride for the wedding? You... you're in the wrong place! You need to go in through the main entrance; your bride is waiting for you inside!"

Alexander narrowed his eyes, coldly staring at the unattractive woman in front of him, almost believing her nonsense.

He sneered, "Is that so? Then why are you wearing the Melville family's engagement ring?"

With that, Alexander grabbed her hand, raised it, and coldly glanced at the diamond ring on her ring finger!

Katherine was shocked, "Oh no!"

It wasn't that she had carelessly forgotten to take off the ring; it was as if it was stuck in her hand, and she couldn't remove it no matter what!

Alexander's deep and mysterious eyes seemed to see through her thoughts as he answered the doubt in her heart.

"You don't have to waste your energy. That ring is made of platinum mixed with a special material and can only be taken off with the special oil blend."

Katherine gritted her teeth, thinking, "He's playing tricks!"

Well, since she couldn't escape, she decided not to run!

"Sir, in that case, let's be frank! I know you don't really want to marry me. You just need a nominal wife for some undisclosed reason, right?"

Alexander remained silent.

Katherine smiled and said, "Indeed, my sister Sherry is very willing to marry you. She is prettier than me and has a better figure. If you marry her, you will surely be happy!"

Alexander narrowed his eyes. It seemed that this young girl really didn't want to marry him, and she was eager to avoid him.

This piqued his curiosity!

All the women he had encountered before had tried every means to get his attention and become his woman!

But what he wanted was a woman like Katherine, someone who wouldn't cling to him!

Alexander said in a calm tone, "The ring is on your hand, so the woman I want to marry is you."

Katherine furrowed her brow and said, "That's simple! Give me the special oil you mentioned, and I'll take the ring off right away and give it back to you. You can give it to Sherry!"

Alexander calmly replied, "I don't have that oil."

"Then you can go buy some!"

"That kind of oil is no longer available!"

"Oh, I see..." Katherine bit her lip, grinned, and suddenly pointed behind Alexander, "Look! A colorful cloud!"

Alexander remained expressionless, but his lips twitched imperceptibly.

In the next moment, Katherine, who had planned to escape, was once again grabbed by Alexander by the back of her neck. He lifted her up and, in a very indifferent manner, carried her away despite Katherine's frantic kicking.

Meanwhile, Leander and his handsome groomsmen had just entered the living room of the Galatea Manor when his phone rang. It was a call from Alexander.

Leander stopped in his tracks, respectfully answered the call, and then turned around with a solemn expression, leading the groomsmen to leave.

Seeing this, Lillian, who was feeling triumphant, was taken aback and quickly caught up to ask, "Mr. Nelson, the bride is waiting inside. Where are you all going?"

Leander looked at Lillian and said, "Mr. Melville has personally gone to pick up the bride."

Lillian was puzzled, "What? That can't be! Sherry is still in her room!"

Leander furrowed his brow, "Sherry? You might be mistaken. The person Mr. Melville is marrying is not named Sherry."

With that, Leander coldly walked past Lillian without looking back and left with the others.

Lillian stood there, her face pale.

The guests started to whisper and discuss.

Just a moment ago, the relatives had been flattering Joshua, but now he had become the subject of ridicule!

Joshua felt extremely embarrassed, his expression a mix of awkwardness and anger, and he turned to vent his frustration on Lillian, who had organized the banquet.

"Lillian! What is going on? You said that Mr. Melville was going to marry Sherry. Why has everything turned out like this?"

Lillian, with an innocent look, said, "I... I don't know how this happened! When the Melville family members came that day, they said they were going to marry our daughter. They even brought wedding presents for Sherry... Joshua, you saw it too."

Joshua stepped forward and slapped Lillian hard.

"You arranged everything without clarifying the situation. You have brought great shame to the Galatea family!"

Meanwhile, Sherry, who had been waiting in her room for the groom to come and get her, heard the commotion outside and came out, dragging her wedding dress.

She asked, "Mom... Dad! What's going on? Where is my groom, Mr. Melville?"

"Sherry, Mr. Melville's men said they made a mistake. Mr. Melville has already taken the real bride away!"

"What? Mom! How could such a thing happen? Isn't Mr. Melville supposed to marry me?"

Lillian, holding her face that was hurting from Joshua's slap, said, "Sherry, don't blame me. My mind is also in a mess right now."

Some relatives who had never liked the arrogant and smug Lillian and Sherry began to take pleasure in their misfortune.

"Sherry, at this point, don't delude yourself into thinking that Mr. Melville will marry you! You should have known that with Mr. Melville's status, he would never marry an actress like you, who has so many scandals!"

"I was curious how you managed to win the favor of the first family, the Melville family. It turns out it was all a misunderstanding!"

"Sherry, you should just continue being an actress! After all, in TV dramas, you can marry a man like Mr. Melville! Hahaha."

Unable to bear the mocking of her relatives, Sherry glared at Lillian with resentment and quickly retreated to her room.

In her mind, Sherry kept thinking, 'I'm fed up! This is so embarrassing! But how could this be wrong? Mr. Melville gave me a ring!'

‘No! I don't believe it! I refuse to accept this reality! Who did Alexander take away in the end? Who is she? Does she also have the surname Galatea and live nearby?' She pondered.
