CHAPTER 4

FREYA POV

The pack warriors, all led the servants and little pups to safety while the leaders of the packs were taken to the upper chambers. I was less worried about myself. Ace was in danger. The attackers had wolfsbane according to what I heard. I just wanted to see him and make sure he was safe but that wasn't possible. Mother hugged me as we both sobbed in fear together.

"I hope your brother will be safe," she said as I hugged her tighter.

THIRD POV

The Pack warriors managed to fend off the attackers, it was revealed that the attackers were Rogues. The damage done was much. Some warriors were taken down because of the wolfsbane and some servants were killed before they could make it to safety.

Injured warriors were taken to be treated. The wolfsbane made it harder for them to heal fast. Ace lay on his bed, sweating and immobile as his mother lay next to him. He got most of the damage since it went straight through his abdomen, thus affecting him more. The sage entered the room to look at him. He turned to Isis .

"Please, do what you can to save him. I can't lose another son," She said crying. Ralia placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Only the blood of his mate can save him," he said.

"That's good; she's right here." She said pushing Ralia forward.

"Not her." The sage spoke making Isis and Darren look up in shock.

"What do you mean by that?" Isis said.

"The moon goddess seemed to have changed her mind. Ralia is not to be his mate anymore. The Alpha has rejected her emotionally without putting it verbally and two mates who don't have a mutual connection cannot lead a pack," he said.

"Then who is to be his mate?" Isis said

"An Omega, in your servant chambers. The turned human," he revealed. Isis's face went pale.

"The moon goddess has to be playing tricks on us. She wasn't even born a full blooded wolf," she said.

"Do not question the moon goddess, Isis. This is her verdict. The girl must become Luna and nobody else." He said. Ralia looked devastated but tried to put up a front as she left the room. Isis stood up and looked at Darren.

"Bring the girl here," she ordered.

FREYA POV

I followed Darren as he led me to the upper chambers. I still did not know why I was needed there. Darren just took me and said the Luna requested for me. We entered Ace's room. He looked pale and my heart broke just looking at him.

I wanted to reach out to him, comfort him, tell him I was here now but I held myself. The sage was also here. He looked at me with a weird expression on his face. The Luna looked less than pleased to see me and Ralia looked sad, almost disheartened.

"Come here, child." The sage said as I walked closer to him.

"You are here because it has been revealed by the moon goddess that you are to be the Alpha's mate" he said. I stepped back, disbelief written all over my face. I stumbled and Darren caught me. It was impossible.

"What about Ralia?" I said, still struggling with the information.

"The moon goddess has changed her mind. Your blood is the only thing that can save him from his state. As soon as it is done. The two of you will be married and you will become his Luna and that of the moon pack. You must be strong and courageous like a Luna should be.

"But I can hardly turn into a full wolf. I am but a servant of the pack," I said. The sage smiled.

"The best things always come at the right moments. For now, saving the Alpha is most important. Come, child." He was right all that mattered now was Ace. I can worry about other things later. I stepped closer to him and he drew a knife. He opened Ace's wounds and my blood dropped on his body.

His wounds healed instantly. He was still asleep though.

"We must leave the room. These moments are crucial. When he wakes up, he might become a bit brazen. His mate should be here till he wakes." At that, everyone left. But not before the Luna gave me a displeased look.

It was dawn and Ace hadn't woken up yet. I was lying down next to him, eyes closed to take a little rest when I noticed air on my face. I looked up only to see Ace looking at me, eyes red and feral.

"Ace, it's me." I said touching his face. His eyes closed, his nose inhaling my scent like a hungry beast.

"I'm here now" I said.

"Freya" he breathed. "I was confused but now I know its you. Its always been you." He said, face going to my neck and sharp teeth grazing it.

"Ace," I whispered. Suddenly I felt a sharp pain on my neck. He was marking me, making me his. I let out a little sound at it. The pain eased after a while.

Ace looked at me, a little smile on his face. The hungry look never vanished.

"I can't wait for you to be mine fully, my Luna," he said and I blushed at that.

"But for now, there are things I should handle first," he said, standing up.

"Are you strong enough?" I asked.

"Do not worry about me" he said stroking my cheek. We stepped out together. The Luna looked relieved as she saw him. She still looked at me with displeasure but masked it so Ace wouldn't notice.

"I'm happy you're awake, son," she said.

"I am well mother, but we have bigger problems. We need to find out who attacked the packs and we have to put an end to them. No one messes with my pack. No one!"
