I Paid Her A Visit
Barry knew that trouble was brewing. He made sure o to join his brothers to look at Margaret as she descended the stairs, and only concentrated on the meal in front of him as if his life depended on it.
Harry and Larry looked at themselves, and then they looked at Barry who was eating with all his might and concentration.
''Good morning.'' Margaret said with a shy tone as she joined the Princes on the dining, taking a seat beside Barry.
Barry swallowed hard.
''Margaret, come and sit here.'' Larry was the first to speak.
''Who gave you those clothes?'' Harry followed, asking Margaret with a firm yet alluring tone.
Margaret glanced at Harry and quickly darted her eyes away from him. The young man's eyes were so piercing, as if he could see through her soul.
''Barry gave me clothes this morning because I didn't come with a luggage.'' Margaret explained and then she smiled at Larry, indicating that she was not going to acknowledge his invitation to sit beside him.
Larry looked at Barry with keen interest.
''So you went to her room after telling me that you won't go there.'' Larry felt betrayed because he had asked his brother to join him to pay Margaret a visit, stating that she might be bored, but Barry declined. Barry told Larry that he would not go there, and that Larry also should not go to Margaret's room so that they would not appear desperate, only for him to later visit Margaret when Larry was still asleep.
''She needed help so I went to deliver her.'' Barry could not look up, especially at his oldest brother, Harry. Barry knew that Harry would literally kill him with his eyes, so he avoided Harry at all costs.
''How did you know that she needed help? Did she call you?'' Larry was so upset, especially after Margaret refused to go and sit beside him.
''Where is McGuire?'' Margaret thought quickly to distract the young men from starting to argue in front of her.
Barry shrugged.
''He went into the town to get us a butler, and you a maid.'' Harry finally spoke after staring literally into Margaret's soul the entire time.
Margaret's eyes slowly met Harry's and remained there for a few seconds before she looked away.
''A maid? I don't need a maid. I am used to doing chores by myself. I can take care of myself. Why did he go out for a maid for me?'' Margaret was shocked to hear that she would soon own a maid, it had never happened like that for her as she had always been a maid to others.
''No woman of ours will do any chores by herself. Where do you think you are?'' Harry replied cooly.
At that point, Barry looked up at Margaret as well.
''We can't let you do any chores,'' he said emphatically, and Larry nodded to agree with his brothers.
''But I'm used to it,'' Margaret complained.
''What's there to do around here if I don't get engrossed in chores? Can I get a job?'' Margaret asked.
''A job?'' Larry gasped while his brothers all adjusted uncomfortably.
"Yes. Will I just sit around all day?" Margaret was confused, so they really meant to have her lying around all day like a spoilt brat like them? Wow.
"Margaret, I don't know if McGuire told you that we are princes. Did he?" Barry was sitting right next to Margaret, so he didn't have to speak so loudly and Margaret further drowned in the alluring tone of his voice.
Harry noticed the connection that was burning between Margaret and Barry, and jealousy enveloped him. He got up from the dining and walked away to the surprise of everyone.
"There will be other things for you to do to keep yourself busy, out taking a job is not ine of them." Barry explained as he looked at Harry's back while Harry walked away.
Margaret didn't even know what to say.
Timely, and to the relief of everyone around, McGuire returned.
"I see you all are getting to know each other already." McGuire had a huge smile across his face. He also carried a large package that contained brand new clothes of all weather for Margaret.
The most relieved person was Margaret, at least she was used to McGuire, so things were not all that awkward for her anymore.
"Where have you been?" Margaret queried McGuire as the least he should have done was inform her that he was going to be absent for a while.
"Why? I had to run errands especially for you." McGuire replied.
"You should have at least informed me..." Margaret was still speaking when McGuire interrupted her.
"I left you in the company of your husbands, I don't have any say over you as far as they are concerned and are in the same space with you." McGuire wanted to let Margaret know that she belonged totally to the Princes.
"That's by the way though," he added and started to offload the shopping bags that he had returned home with.
Margaret was grateful when McGuire started to take out the items from the parcel.
"Are those for me?" Margaret's eyes lit up, and she asked also wondering how McGuire knew her size.
"You like them? I can get more for you, more expensive ones," Larry cane to join the party as he also admired the clothes that McGuire held up, displaying them to Margaret.
While McGuire was in that position, his brain suddenly struck and he figured the obvious out with a smile on his face.
"Are you putting on Barry's clothes?" McGuire asked Margaret in shock.
Margaret nodded.
"How did you get them?" McGuire asked.
"I paid her a visit." Barry quickly spoke up to defend himself and Margaret.
