Chapter 6 Once Determined, I Will Not Change

Isabella's heart sank, and she instinctively took a few steps back.

"You are..."

Before Isabella could finish her sentence, a man in black knocked her out.

When she woke up, she found herself in a conference room.

Isabella was sitting on a chair.

Looking around at the spacious room, she immediately felt a wave of panic.

'In situations like this, it was highly likely I had been kidnapped.'

'But I didn't have any money, so why would kidnappers target me?'

Just as she was thinking this, the conference room door swung open.

Frederick walked in, followed by dozens of tall bodyguards, all dressed in sharp suits, exuding an air of authority.

But Frederick, leading the way, had an even more commanding presence.

The man had chiseled features and an imposing aura.

He cast a cold glance at Isabella sitting in the chair.

Isabella's eyes widened, staring at Frederick without blinking.

'This man looked so familiar.'

'And he looked so much like my sons, Hugo and Justin!'

'It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call him a grown-up version of them.'

'Could it be the man who had taken advantage of her that night and then disappeared?'

The thought made Isabella's heart race.

All the grievances she had suffered over the years came flooding back.

Isabella's eyes reddened with tears.

'Could he be that man from back then?'

Frederick's expression changed slightly when he saw Isabella.

For some reason, he felt she looked familiar.

But he didn't know her.

Before Frederick could say anything, Isabella walked up to him and asked, "Can you take off your shirt and let me see?"

Frederick frowned, "What did you say?"

Elliot, standing nearby, widened his eyes.

'Over the years, many women had tried to seduce Mr. Valdemar, but none had been as bold as this one!'

'Unfortunately for them, their boss was a workaholic and had no interest in women.'

Frederick's cold gaze fixed on Isabella.

Her request had caught him off guard.

'This woman was too direct.'

'Could it be that she knew her son had caused trouble and was trying to use this to her advantage?'

The thought made Frederick's eyes fill with disdain.

Isabella had no idea what Frederick was thinking. She just wanted to know if this man was the father of her children.

She remembered biting that man deeply on the shoulder that night, leaving a scar for sure.

'If he had a scar on his shoulder, he was the man from that night.'

"Can you?" Isabella asked again, her voice trembling slightly.

Frederick's eyes narrowed. "No."

He coldly refused, "I brought you here today because of your son."

Hearing this, Isabella's eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope. "Just because of my son?"

Frederick's expression remained stern. "What else?"

Isabella looked at the man in front of her, filled with doubt. 'After all, there were many people who looked alike in this world, and the lighting had been dim that night. I hadn't seen the man's face clearly.'

'Moreover, his voice didn't seem to match the man from that night. Could I have mistaken him?'

Seeing Isabella staring at him strangely, Frederick frowned. "Why are you staring at me?"

Isabella asked, "Do you not know me?"

Frederick's expression was stern. "I don't know you."

'It seemed I had indeed mistaken him.' Isabella felt a sudden sense of disappointment. But it made sense. If that man had been willing to take responsibility, he wouldn't have disappeared for so many years without a trace.

Isabella decided to get straight to the point. "So, why did you bring me here?"

Frederick raised his hand, signaling Elliot to play the surveillance footage. In the footage, a little boy ran around a luxury car. After a loud thud, the car's body collapsed.

Seeing this, Isabella's face turned pale. The boy in the footage was none other than her son, Justin.

Frederick cast a cold glance at Isabella. "Don't you think you owe us an explanation?"

Isabella couldn't believe her eyes. 'Justin was mischievous, but he was just a child. How could he dismantle a car in a few minutes?'

"Is there a mistake? My Justin is only five years old. How could he dismantle a car in a few minutes?" Isabella questioned, "Could it be that your car wasn't sturdy to begin with?"

'These days, even the rich were resorting to extortion?'

Frederick's expression darkened, and he coldly stared at Isabella, trying to catch something in her eyes. "Your son had a micro-explosive on him. You didn't know?"

Isabella was stunned. She had no idea about any explosives on Justin. But last month, the village chief had given him some fireworks to play with.

She said, "You must be mistaken. Justin didn't have any explosives. Maybe it was leftover fireworks."

'Fireworks?' Frederick's eyes narrowed slightly. 'It was indeed unlikely that the child had explosives. Some fireworks could be quite powerful.'
