Chapter 8 In My Heart, There Has Always Been Only Your Mommy

Alison nearly lost her balance and fell, glaring resentfully at Frederick's retreating figure.

Upstairs.

Vases and other items were being thrown out of a room, crashing loudly on the floor.

The butler looked on, pained.

Each of those items was worth millions of dollars!

Frederick entered the room to find Dennis in a rage, smashing things left and right.

"Get out! All of you, get out!"

Frederick, who was always so stern and decisive outside, softened immediately in front of his son.

He knelt down and gently stroked Dennis's head.

"What's wrong, Dennis? Did something upset you?"

Dennis frowned, clearly unhappy, and stepped back, smashing a vase worth millions on the ground.

Frederick didn't get angry. Instead, he spoke indulgently, "If you want to break things, go ahead. Just don't hurt yourself."

Dennis glared at Frederick, his cheeks puffed out in anger.

"Are you planning to stop looking for Mom?"

Frederick was taken aback. "Why would you say that? I've never stopped looking for your mom all these years."

"You're lying!"

Dennis's eyes reddened as he shouted, "That awful woman told me you're going to marry her soon and that you won't look for Mom anymore!"

"Did Alison tell you that?"

Dennis nodded, looking aggrieved.

Frederick frowned. He hadn't expected Alison to have the nerve to say such things in front of his son.

He took Dennis's hand and assured him, "I won't marry her, and I will never stop looking for your mom."

Hearing this, Dennis's anger seemed to dissipate a bit. He looked at Frederick. "Really?"

Frederick nodded.

"When have I ever lied to you?"

"But that awful woman said you like her."

Dennis bit his lip. "But I hate her."

"Don't listen to her nonsense."

Frederick wiped the tears from Dennis's face, speaking earnestly, "In my heart, there's only your mom. I know you miss her, and I miss her too. Don't worry, I will find her."

Dennis's face remained sullen, but a glimmer of hope appeared in his eyes.

He had never seen his mom since he was born.

He missed her so much.

"You should go. I want to be alone for a while."

Dennis walked over to his desk and sat down, staring blankly at the drawings on it.

When he missed his mom, he would imagine what she looked like and draw her.

He thought that this way when he finally met her, he would recognize her at once.

Frederick watched this scene and sighed softly.

Dennis had always been a bit of a loner, with a temper to match.

He never blamed him, knowing it was because his mother wasn't around.

Over the years, many had advised him to find another woman to be Dennis's stepmother.

But he refused.

Firstly, he didn't trust anyone else to take care of Dennis.

Secondly, his heart had no room for another woman.

Frederick was a man who took love very seriously. Once he committed to someone, he never wavered.

Seeing his son had dismissed him, Frederick had no choice but to leave.

After closing the door, he was surprised to find Alison still downstairs.

"Frederick."

Alison approached him.

Frederick's gaze turned cold.

If it weren't for the fact that Alison had once saved Dennis, he would have dealt with her harshly.

He despised people who stirred up trouble, especially in front of his son.

Holding back his anger, he spoke coolly, "I'm sorry Dennis hurt you today."

Alison forced a smile. "It's nothing. I probably mentioned his birth mother by accident. But that woman doesn't deserve to be Dennis's mom."

A flash of murderous intent crossed Frederick's mind, but his face remained impassive.

"In the future, unless it's urgent, Ms. Walter, please don't come to see Dennis. He's not in a good mood these days and doesn't want to be disturbed."

Alison's expression stiffened.

'If I couldn't come around anymore, how would I get close to Frederick?'

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.

'That ungrateful Dennis! I had brought so many gifts for him, and not only did he not appreciate it, but he also threw a tantrum!'

"Frederick, I think—"

Alison started to say something, but Frederick's phone rang.

He raised a hand to stop her and answered the call.

His voice was cold. "What is it?"

"Mr. Valdemar, Ms. Beniere... she's escaped!"

Frederick furrowed.

'With a dozen bodyguards at the door, how could one woman escape?'

Elliot explained, "The fire alarm in the hallway suddenly went off, causing panic among the residents. Ms. Beniere must have taken advantage of the chaos to escape."

"How did the fire alarm go off?"

Elliot checked the surveillance footage and found that the footage from that period was missing.

And the reason for the alarm had also been found out.
