Rachel

Suddenly Rachel thought she heard a low, deep, rough…..what sounded like a growl. She straightened in her chair quickly. “Did you hear that Levi?” She bent down and grabbed her shirt and pulled it on quickly.

He scanned his back yard, he doesn’t have a neighbor for a couple of miles around him. His home was so far up the thickly wooded mountains that no one just happened to wonder through.

“Rachel, go inside, get my rifle.” Pointing towards the house with his finger he ordered her to go. She shot up without questioning him, ran inside to retrieve his rifle, grabbing the box of bullets beside it. She sprinted back out, handed the gun to Levi. Still looking past the yard out into the forest he reached for the rifle, cocked it.

He’s hunted in these woods all his life. Levi knew these mountains like the back of his hand. No one sneaks up on anyone in this area knowing they could get shot in a heartbeat.

Walking fast Levi entered the woods with his gun moving with his eyes. She stood stiffly on the back porch watching holding on to the rails. Levi walk out of her site. She was so scared something would happen to him.

might not love her, but she knew in her heart that he at least cared for her. Hoping maybe one day, he would realize she was the one for him.

Breathing in a gasp of air she heard another very low, rough growl right behind her.

There was a feeling of hot air in the back of her neck.

Her heart stopped, forgetting to breathe as she turned around.

She stared in the black eyes of a huge leathery creature. Frozen she couldn’t move. She was help motionless by his black eyes watching you with that human male, it was… very interesting. From where I come from we don’t have the opportunity to fuck slowly, we prefer hard, fast, long, sometimes the female dies in the process from exhaustion.”

Reaching out with a long sharp finger he touched the side of her face. “Very soft, so unlike us….I bet you would taste very tender, very sweet for a meal…I am getting quite hungry. He said in a low growling voice..

Her mind told her to scream, but she couldn’t, it was like she was paralyzed.

Looking into her eyes, "I can see your soul glow, very bright, fascinating." The Alp murmured to himself. Tilting his head to the left.

The ancient ones did not lie about the humans.

Alp leaned towards her lips, inhaling deeply. Rachel just stood there with her lips slightly parted. A bright mist floated out of her mouth into the Alps mouth when suddenly Levi came running out of the woods yelling.

“Drop Rachel! I’m going to shoot…drop to the floor!” Rachel couldn’t respond, she was held suspended by the Alps glare while he attempted to inhaled her soul.

Pop…Pop….the gun went off. Wood splintered off the house….the Alp stopped inhaling. He took off running so fast the he appeared to fly over the ground back into the forest.

Rachel fell to the porch floor like a rag doll, completely unconscious. Levi ran up to her, bent down, taking her slender shoulders in his big hands.

Gently shaking her, “Rachel, Rachel, you OK? Damn it- Wake up Rachel!” She slowly opened her eyes while taking shallow breaths. He lifted her up, carried her into his living room, ever so gently he laid her down on the couch.

“What was that thing?” softly Levi rasped out his question to himself as he shook from being scared. He was more scared of Rachel being hurt than of that black creature.

He had never seen anything like it before, it looked somewhat human, then again, it wasn’t. The ugly bastard looked like it just came straight out of hell.

Sitting on the edge of the couch he placed his hand on her hip trying to ease her shaking. Her breathing was so raspy.

Levi picked up the house phone and dialed Jed's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey Jed, this is Levi I need you to come to my place and bring your shot gun we need to go hunting."

"Sounds good but what are we hunting for buddy?" Jed asked, he didn't exactly want to go squirrel hunting.

"I'll tell you when you get the fuck over here. Hurry the fuck up." Getting irritated and worried about Rachel he hung up on Jed

"Damn what's up his ass." Jed muttered to himself, walking over to his gun case and grabbing a box of bullets. Jumping the porch steps and landing on the ground he jumped into his pick up and headed for Levis cabin.
