The Man With The Amber Eyes

"Being merciful to all creatures again, Jake?"

A man stood in front of the front door with his hands folded across his chest. He looked at Sheera cynically, as if he didn't like her presence in this place.

Sheera swallowed hard, a strange feeling enveloped her soul at this moment. She is not used to living with air rather than water. Moreover, being stared at like this, made her feel as if there was warm water flowing from her crotch.

The man was tall, almost two meters, handsome, stocky and looked sturdy. His skin is tan, his eyes are amber-gold with a copper sheen and his hair is dark brown. His physical appearance was very different from the people she met in this place.

The man walked over to her and started acting strangely by sniffing her scent. His eyebrows rose, as if he looked confused by the smell he smelled. Sheera trembled, she really felt the warm feeling of the water flowing between her legs. She had just woken up from her nightmare and now, she had to face a reality that was no less bad.

"D-don't hurt me!" Poor Sheera immediately acted like prey about to be pounced on by a predator. The situation was not much different from what she experienced under the sea.

"Tch, it smells fishy!" The man chuckled in annoyance. He immediately walked away with a strange expression on his face.

"What are you saying?"

"She smells fishy, smells like fish! You know that, right?"

"Maybe because she was tossed around in the sea for several days, that's why-"

"No, Jake! It smells different, like fresh fish. If you see a fisherman making a big catch, you can smell something like this."

"I don't know, I don't smell anything other than your very strong perfume. You wear too much deodorant!"

"I just got home from the gym!"

This strange man carelessly removed the red shirt he was wearing and casually exposed his muscular body in front of Sheera and Jacob who could only stare at him with confused looks.

"Your narcissistic nature doesn't change, does it?"

"Hey come on, man! I'm handsome, sexy, so what's the point of hiding? Apart from that, who is this fishy-smelling girl?"

"Her name is Sheera!"

"Let her answer! Hey Young Lady, who are you?" He asked harshly. Sheera couldn't even move from being bullied like this.

"I-I-"

"Keith, calm down! You scared her!"

"Why is she scared? Is my good looks so strong that she's scared?"

"You stupid!"

"Once again I ask you, Miss! Who are you? Why are you here?"

"I-I don't know! I really don't know-" Sheera tried to hide her pale face with a white blanket that covered her body. This man kept looking at her as if suspecting something.

"It seems she lost her memory. I found her on the beach in a faint,"

"Was there a ship that sank a while ago?"

"I guess no, but it's possible that she's been adrift in the sea this far."

"Or maybe she's a sea creature because-"

"N-no...!" In a panic, Sheera immediately denied Keith's guess. She had been afraid of this man from the start and now she actually guessed where Sheera came from.

She is not good at lying, but she also cannot admit that she is a mermaid, she is afraid that the same incident will happen again. However, she felt that this strange man named Keith already suspected her.

"Hmm...really? Well, never mind, you have to get out of here as soon as possible."

"Keith, it's okay! She can stay here until her condition is completely recovered. And her memory, I don't think she can remember anything other than her name!"

"No! She can't be here! I'm going to take her away and force her to tell me where she lives so I can take her home! Hey you, where is your house?"

"H-home?"

"Yeah! Don't tell me you don't remember where your house is, right?"

"I-I don't know."

"You didn't know?"

"Keith, you better not push her. Just let her stay here for a while!"

"You idiot! Don't you remember what happened the last time you helped humans and brought them here? Damn it, I don't want you to get into any more trouble because of your being too kind. Let me take care of it!" This man insisted on taking Sheera away. While Sheera isn't sure that she wants to go with her.

"Okay then, Miss Sheera!"

"Y-yes?"

"Can't you remember anything about your family and origins at all?" He asked. He is very polite and gentle, in contrast to his friend, cynical and also rude.

Sheera lowered her head, she couldn't look at this man's face any longer. His skin is very clean and shining, his blue eyes are very beautiful and gentle. At first glance he could ask in her mind, is there really a human who looks so beautiful like this?

Sheera shook her head slowly, she was afraid that her lies would be discovered if she tried to give reasons. She has never really interacted with humans other than Ethan and now she has to be faced with two men who have very sharp intuition.

Jacob sighed, he smiled softly. He didn't want to force Sheera to remember something she couldn't remember, it seemed like it would be difficult for Keith to handle it.

"I think I should just help her find her house."

"Are you kidding?"

"I'm not kidding! A fugitive like you would have a hard time getting over this kind of thing. You better think for yourself now. As I suggest, stay here until they really think you're gone or at the very least, your scent in that town has definitely is lost."

"Tch, don't be ridiculous, Jake! I can take care of myself. Besides, you know I can't be here much longer, right?"

Jacob was silent, he looked at Sheera who looked confused by what they were saying.

"Okay, I understand. You're right, for now I can't go too far. Therefore, I hope you can look after her and help her return home!" Jacob relented. Who knows what the real reason was, he also knew that he couldn't accommodate Sheera any longer, even though he was also worried that this poor girl wouldn't be able to return to her home.

"You don't need to worry, I will force her to remember everything, so she stops bothering you."
