Chapter 2 I Want to Get Married

"Joyce was stunned by Sebastian's words. It took her several seconds to react. She smiled weakly and asked, "Do you think I'm being unreasonable?"

"Aren’t you?" Sebastian's tone was filled with annoyance and a hint of coldness, piercing Joyce's heart.

Joyce bit her lip hard, her fingers tightly gripping the phone. With all her strength, she cursed, "Sebastian, you jerk!"

Joyce was in so much pain that she broke out in a cold sweat. She wanted to make an emergency call, but her fingers were too weak.

Finally, everything went black in front of Joyce, and she passed out.

When Joyce woke up again, she found herself lying in a hospital bed. Her best friend, Sophia Sinclair, was sitting beside her.

Seeing Joyce awake, Sophia got up immediately and looked at her with concern. "Joyce, how are you feeling? Does it still hurt?"

Joyce looked at her blankly and asked, "What happened to me?"

Sophia hesitated for a moment and said, "You were pregnant. The doctor said your uterine wall was already thin, and combined with Sebastian's aggressive actions, it led to a miscarriage and severe bleeding."

Joyce couldn't believe her ears. Her mind was filled with the fact that she was pregnant, but now the baby was gone. It was her and Sebastian's child.

Although she and Sebastian didn't know where their relationship was heading, it was still her first child.

Joyce couldn't help but curl her fingers, and tears fell from the corners of her eyes.

Sophia, seeing Joyce's pain, couldn't help but embrace her and comfort her softly. "You just had surgery, you can't cry. Listen to me, when you're better, I'll introduce you to a group of handsome guys and let them teach that jerk a lesson!"

"That scumbag Sebastian not only almost took your life with his reckless actions, but he also cheated on you right in front of your eyes. He can go to hell."

Joyce's heart ached more than ever. She held onto Sophia's cold hand tightly, her voice choked with sobs.

Joyce thought about the child that had just come into their lives and was now gone, and about the man she had loved for seven years. She couldn't calm herself down.

After a long while, Joyce finally spoke. "Did you see him?"

Sophia nodded. "He's on the fourth floor with Isabella. When you were in surgery, I called him on your phone, hoping he would come to sign some papers, but he didn't even answer the call."

Joyce closed her eyes in pain. "Sophia, take me to see him."

"You just had surgery, you shouldn’t get all worked up."

"There are some things I need to see with my own eyes before I can make a decision."

Unable to resist Joyce's insistence, Sophia took her to the fourth floor.

Joyce stood outside the room and saw Sebastian gently comforting Isabella and giving her medicine. The tender look in his eyes and his soothing voice caused Joyce's heart to ache.

But when Joyce saw Isabella's face, which bore a resemblance to her own, she seemed to understand everything in an instant.

Joyce smiled, a smile tinged with sadness, and turned to Sophia. "Take me back."

Two days later, Joyce saw Sebastian again. She laid in bed, silently watching the man she had once deeply loved. When it came time to make a decision, her heart still ached terribly.

Sebastian, noticing her pale complexion, asked in a deep voice, "It's been two days since your period, why are you still in pain?"

Sebastian thought it was menstrual cramps, as they usually only lasted a day for her.

Joyce's eyes slightly warmed, and she suppressed the emotions in her heart. She remained silent.

Sebastian sat on the edge of the bed, looking cool and handsome. He reached out and touched her forehead with his warm hand, his voice becoming slightly hoarse.

"I managed to buy the bag you liked last time. It's on the sofa outside, go take a look."

Joyce's gaze remained calm as she looked at Sebastian.

"I don't want it anymore."

"In that case, I'll get you a new car. Do you want a Ferrari or a Porsche?"

Seeing Joyce's lack of response, a slight frown appeared on Sebastian's forehead. "Then what do you want?"

Perhaps in his eyes, there was nothing that couldn't be solved with money.

Joyce tightly clenched her pajamas with both hands. Her clear and bright eyes gazed silently at Sebastian. Her slightly pale lips parted.

"I want to marry you!"
