Chapter 4

It's been 8 years since Lumae's first transformation. Lumae's been learning and training excessively for those 8 years with, Aunt Samantha, the phytologist that turned out to be a werewolf as well, Lumae never thought much about learning elder people's names, but apparently it is a werewolf custom to know who your elders are, so she had to start learning all the other aunts' and uncles' names in town as practice. Lumae has also now learned how to transform flawlessly without pain or struggle, but of course she can only transform at night, when she's sure that no one else can see her. In these 8 years Samantha has also gathered a lot of information about Lumae, such as the fact that her natural blue eyes in both her human and her wolf form, show that she is definitely a pure bred, with extremely strong abilities, apparently the amount of blue in a wolf's eyes usually classifies their strength and their amount of strength usually says whether they're an alpha, beta or omega, but Lumae is different, Samantha has never seen any wolf with full blue eyes, she has seen a few come close, but never completely blue like Lumae's, which led Samantha to believe that Lumae really was of the White Moon pack, that has been extinct for nearly 16 years now and since Lumae is also currently 16, Samantha's suspicions just grew stronger.

Samantha heard of a secret tunnel a long time ago, back when she was just a cub. The tunnel could apparently say who your ancestors were, what type of wolf you truly are and where you truly belong, but it was also said that that tunnel was owned by the White Moons and that they used a special remnant that let them go in and out of the tunnel at any time. Though it is possible to go to the tunnel at a very specific time, you have to have the strength of some of the greatest alphas to be able to enter the tunnel, but even the greatest alphas, were said to not be able to make it back out, so Samantha deemed it too risky to even go look for the tunnel, but if Lumae is truly a White Moon, she won't have any problems going in or out at all.

The only problem is to either find out when the right time is, to enter the tunnel, or to find the trinket that was stolen from the Tenebris Lupus pack, which translates to, "Dark Wolf", they're one of the most vicious packs out there, it is even said that they're the reason for the White Moon pack's extinction, but Samantha didn't really know much about that incident in detail, she'd definitely have to find more information on it eventually, but for now the most important thing, was getting Lumae through high school, she's almost halfway there, she just needed to get through the next 2 years without being noticed, which was obviously going to be a big task since everyone knows how teenagers can be, especially at this age.

Today was Lumae's first day of her junior year in high school and she was actually pretty astonishing in school, she was always top of her class and she was very athletic, but to be able to keep a low profile she stuck to her academics, so she didn't get all of that fame that other athletes got. She was actually pretty confident that today was going to go smoothly, well up until she saw the new girl from town, with her long blonde hair, green eyes and basically perfect appearance, the girl had recently moved here, but Lumae didn't get the chance to introduce herself yet, so she went up to the girl to introduce herself with a great, big, kind smile as usual, "Hi, I didn't get the chance to introduce myself yet, I'm Lumae", Lumae extended her hand to shake the girl's, but retracted it when the girl didn't accept the handshake, "Oh, so YOU'RE the pride and joy this town likes to speak about," she looked Lumae up and down, then made eye contact, "To be honest, I don't really see it, what's so joyful about a fat, blue-eyed, nerdy freak like you?", suddenly everyone who Lumae once thought were her friends, or maybe even closer to family, started laughing at her, repeating the new girl's harsh words in their own ways, "Nerd", "FATSO" "FREAK" and for the first time in her life Lumae had felt alone, she felt sad, she felt like an outcast and with the feeling of tears finally welling up in her eyes, she sprinted through the hallway into the nearest bathroom and into a stall, not allowing her tears to fall until she was safely out of sight. After she had calmed down a little, she decided to ruin her perfect school attendance and go to grandpa Will's place, because she didn't know if she'd be able to handle whatever else that new girl might throw at her.

Once she arrived at grandpa Will's, he was sitting on his porch, enjoying the nice view of the forest, when he saw her approaching the house, he immediately knew that something was wrong. He stood, up walked towards her and before they could even say a word, she fell into his embrace and cried her heart out, she was confused, sad, angry at the fact that her friends would betray her like that, that they would completely change for the worse, just because of some new girl. Grandpa Will noticed her anger and tried to calm her down once he remembered what Samantha told him 7 years ago, "There will be a time when someone or something will push Lumae to her limits, to the point where she feels extreme emotions, when that happens and I'm not around, try to calm her as much as possible, because werewolves tend to struggle to control their wolf form when they feel strong emotions. So keep her calm for as long as you can and contact me immediately".

Grandpa Will then managed to calmly get Lumae into the house and started the kettle, "How about some tea to calm your nerves dear?", Lumae slowly sat on a nearby couch, sniffling, "Y-yeah sure", he then proceeds to prepare the tea, then headed towards his phone and called Samantha, "Hey, Samantha, it's happening, she came to me crying about something and she's clearly angry as well", Samantha instantly sprung into action, "Okay I'll be there in a few minutes", "Okay, I'll try figuring out what happened in the meantime, see you soon Samantha", "No don't-", grandpa Will had already accidentally ended the call begore Samantha could speak any further.

A little after the call, the kettle started to boil and grandpa Will made Lumae her favorite tea, bringing it to her and asking, "So, what happened back there deary?", Lumae gently took the cup from grandpa Will, "I don't want to talk about it", she said as she took a sip of her tea, "But deary, something must have happened to upset you this much", Lumae looked up at the roof in anger, "It's all HER fault, she took my friends, she called me a FREAK, what gives her the right to come here and ruin everything in ONE day!", grandpa Will started to notice how Lumae was gradually getting angrier, "Oh my sweet child, sometimes these things will happen, but it's what you do about it that counts", "NO!", Lumae lashed out on grandpa Will out of anger, "She ruined EVERYTHING, she called me FAT, she called me a NERD and she called me a BLUE...EYED...FREAK, she made me look WEAK in front of EVERYONE, she made EVERY PERSON I ever counted on, LAUGH and MOCK me!", Lumae furiously stood up from the couch and went towards the open door, "I am not WEAK", she then proceeded to shift in frustration and sprinted off into the forest, almost like that time when she had first transformed, only this time she was, stronger, faster and more in control of her senses. She sprinted deeper and deeper and as she sprinted, she passed by Samantha on her way to grandpa Will's, Samantha then instantly turned around sprinting after Lumae, but struggled to keep up and Lumae lost her halfway through the forest, but she just kept on sprinting, not aware of where she was or where she was going, trying to get rid of the intense anger she felt.

She kept running and running until she noticed that she was close to the edge of a cliff, but she kept running, trying to calm down and as she ran, the edge got closer and closer, until she eventually came to a stop just in time. She then closed her eyes and took in a couple of deep breaths, calming herself down a bit before looking up at the most beautiful scenery she had ever seen, miles and miles of forest, birds flying in the distance and a huge river flowing gently through the forest. She closed her eyes again to take it all in, when she heard a branch behind her snap, as she turned to look behind her, a jet black wolf with greenish eyes, that had a tiny tint of blue, jumped her from behind, pining her to the ground, but she managed to throw it off and pin it to the ground. When the other wolf noticed how blue her eyes were, he immediately backed down and didn't even try to fight back, he just surrendered.

Remembering that Samantha told her that there are different pack territories, it didn't take her long to notice that she accidentally ran into one, she didn't know which pack's territory she accidentally ran into, but she knew she had to get out of there and quickly. She sprung off of the black wolf and sprinted back into the forest in the direction that she came from, hearing howls coming from behind her, but she didn't stop running.

Eventually she saw a worried Samantha standing at what seems to be the border between the two territories, but just as Lumae was about to reach the border another black wolf with bluer eyes and a little bit of green sprung on her pinning her to the ground once again, but this time in a way that was almost impossible to escape from. She tried to wiggle lose but struggled to do so and in the processes they interlocked eyes and something instantly felt different, the two wolves felt something strange as soon as their eyes interlocked, a strong feeling which Lumae couldn't describe and she didn't know what this feeling ment.

The black wolf that pinned her down suddenly looked as though he was in denial about something, as though he wa deep in thought and after a while he let go of Lumae, not even looking back at her as he commanded the rest of the pack to retreat. Lumae instantly hurried towards Samantha, walking along with her towards the village, where they then went to grandpa Will's place to talk. "Lumae, I know what you felt might be confusing to you right now, but it's kind of hard to explain, I would have hoped that you'd find him much later in your life, so for now I'm just going to desperately ask you to stay away from that part of the forest, I'll explain all of this to you when you're a bit older and now that you've encountered the Tenebris Lupus pack, I might as well tell you about the White Moon pack and how they've come to be extinct, because Lumae I believe that you might just be the very last of your kind..."
