Chapter 7

...Claire wasn't the only one that gave Lumae a hard time. Landon Mcaine, Claire's close friend, never missed a chance to bully Lumae. He never physically harmed her. That part he left to the girls, even though they never managed to land a punch on her. He still kept to his belief of not hitting a girl.

As Lumae was walking through the hallway towards her locker, she noticed Landon waiting there, "Well, well, well, the town's princess has finally arrived". He leaned on her locker, blocking her from getting her things.

"Claire might not be here today, but I sure as heck am". Lumae looks at him in a judgmental manner.

"Seriously Landon, you really have to find more original things to say. Now can you move please, I'm trying to get to my locker."

Landon moves out of the way, gesturing with his hands that she is free to go to her locker, just as a butler would. Lumae, sensing that he's up to something, cautiously proceeds to get her things for first and second period, but as soon as she closes her locker, Landon firmly places his hand on it, blocking her from going anywhere. He pinned her to her own locker.

"Thought I'd let you go this easily? Hah! In your dreams."

Lumae sighed and rolled her eyes, "Once again Landon, get something more original". She then used her leg to slide Landon's away, making it give in and giving her a gap to escape to her first period. The period she so hates, physics. She didn't really know why the school had to make physics and chemistry one subject, but they did, and she now had to live through it. She really just wanted chemistry, since it kinda helped with biology, her favorite subject.

During break, she spotted her one and only friend, Riley, the only girl that didn't turn her back on Lumae. She once defended Lumae against Claire and her gang, even though Lumae didn't need it, and walked out of school with a black eye. Riley was the true embodiment of an amazing friend, kind, generous, caring, loving, funny, she had a million traits that made her amazing.

Lumae headed over to Riley and plopped down right beside her, giving her a stare that told Riley that something had happened again, "OH MY WORD! What did he do THIS time?"

Lumae smiled at how well her friend knew her, "So first, he leaned on my locker, then he said this really cliché, unoriginal junk and when I went to get my stuff, he acted all butlery, and strangely enough, when I finished getting my things, he pinned me to my own dang locker." Riley smiles.

"Please tell me you kicked him in the nuts or something," she said, rolling her eyes in a joking way.

"Nope, but I did trip him," both of the girls burst out laughing, with Riley imagining his face as he tripped, and went on to eat their lunch, later separating to get to their other classes. Both of them were going on happily for the rest of their day, but the only time Lumae wasn't happy, was in math. Mostly due to Landon being in her math class. At least the second break was right after math, but that just means that he'll probably be more likely to pick on Lumae during the break. She went into the classroom and noticed that someone had taken her seat for some reason, and the only open seat was in front of Landon. JUST FRICKING GREAT.

Lumae went to her seat and patiently tried making it through the period, but Landon kept making it hard by tapping her on her shoulder, bumping her chair's leg with his foot and trying to send a note over to her, but she just kept ignoring him. As soon as the bell rang for break, Landon made sure to be the first to jump out of his chair. He went over to Lumae, placed one hand on her desk and the other on his, behind her, once again blocking her from going anywhere.

"Meet me behind the gym in five minutes. It's important. Oh, and don't try bailing on me, I'll just come find you after school then." He lifted his hands, turned around and left the classroom, also leaving Lumae completely and utterly confused. Lumae walked into Riley in the hall, and they decided to head together, "So uhm, I'm supposed to meet Landon at the gym for some reason, he said it was important, but I don't really want to go alone, you know. Just incase," Riley looks at me shocked.

"Oh yeah, sure, but did he say why? It's quite odd of him, he usually likes to make a public display of you, and he doesn't like hitting girls, so.... Yeah no, I've got nothing, this is a total...mystery to me, I'll just hang nearby, if he gets touchy or anything I'll step in," she makes a heroistic stance, with her hands on her hips and her head held up high. Lumae laughs.

"Thank you, Riley, I can always count on you. Well, we've gotta go, otherwise I'll be late for this mystery meeting", Riley chuckles at Lumae's use of the word that Riley used for lack of other words. They then proceeded to the gym, where Riley kept a safe distance from her and Landon, who was waiting just around the corner. As Lumae approached him, she stepped on a branch, causing Landon to turn to the sound. When he saw that it was Lumae, he instantly grabbed her arm, pulled her towards the wall and once again pinned her.

"Seriously, Landon, again? How many times do you want to pin me today?" Once he realized that he once again pinned Lumae, he instantly let go of her.

"Oh s-sorry Lumae"

"So, what did you want to tell me?"

Landon scratched the back of his neck, clearly nervous, "W-well, you see," he sighed, "This is kind of hard to explain," Lumae was starting to get irritated and crossed her arms.

"Just talk already, Landon. We don't have the world's time on our hands."

He then took a deep, nervous breath in, "W-Well, to be honest, I-I heard from a friend, that if you bully a girl, that she'd eventually fall in love with you, but after realizing that it only drove you further away from me, I think it's better to just confess my feelings," Lumae, instantly looked confused and and even more irritated, "L-Lumae I uh..." She stops him.

"Landon, if you're going to say what I think you're trying to say, you must be out of your mind, not only are you the best friend of the worst bully in town, you literally shamed and embarrassed me in front everyone. I'm sorry, but I don't think I can have this conversation anymore", she turned to leave, but Landon grabbed her hand.

"I know what I did was messed up in so many ways, but at least let me prove myself before rejecting me," Lumae looked at his desperate expression.

"You literally bullied me this morning, Landon, do you really think you can prove yourself?" Landon looked at Lumae confused for a second, but then recalled the morning's events.

"Oh right, you mean the 'town's princess', and the 'Claire not being here' thing, and me pinning you to your locker. Yyyeahhh, so that was just me not knowing how to tell you to meet up with me and my brain responding in a really strange way, eheh." Lumae crossed her arms again.

"Seriously Landon, do you really expect me to believe that?" Landon's desperate grip on her hand, clearly loosened, and his expression instantly got gloomy. Lumae sighed.

"Alright fine, you can try to prove yourself, but if there is the slightest hint of you doing this for any other reason than you liking me, you're dead!" Landon throws both of his hands up.

"Okay, okay, no jokes, I promise," he looked so sincere at that moment that Lumae would never have been able to guess what would happen.
