Chapter 7 James Smith, the Healer?

Jennifer touched James's deep eyes, her body slightly trembling and inexplicably flustered, avoiding James's gaze.

But soon, she calmed down. What was wrong with her? Was she even scared by this piece of trash, James Smith?

"Hehe, I believe you." Jennifer sneered, "You are much better than John, boasting without any basis. If you can be half as good as him, I would laugh at that."

James wanted to say something more, but at that moment, Jennifer's phone rang. After the call, she said to James, "I have something to do, so I won't drive you home. Take a cab yourself."

Her attitude was very indifferent, nothing like a wife should be.

James asked, "Whose call was that just now?"

Jennifer frowned impatiently and said, "What's it to you? Hurry up and get off. I have to go."

James reasoned, "But this is the suburbs, and it's not easy to get a cab here. How about you drop me off at the bus stop ahead?"

"No." Jennifer Johnson rejected his request without hesitation. She insisted, "I'm in a hurry; you have legs; can't you walk there yourself?"

After saying that, she impatiently drove James out of the car.

James Smith sighed heavily. Being bullied by his wife to this extent must be a record, right?

There was no choice but for him to walk slowly to the bus stop a few miles away.

Fortunately, he had unsealed quite a bit, his stamina was much better than before, and it wasn't too strenuous.

As he passed an intersection, he heard cries for help coming from the right front. Looking over, he saw a group of people gathered in a circle, vaguely seeing an older adult lying in the middle, while a woman beside was crying helplessly.

James realized something was wrong and immediately hastened his steps to approach.

He saw a nearly seventy-year-old woman lying unconscious on the ground, her face pale without any color, a bit of foam at the corner of his mouth, looking seriously ill.

"Who can help us? My mom fainted, sob..." The woman beside her was already crying with tears, seeking help from the people around her.

But the people around remained indifferent, even stepping back a few steps, keeping their distance, afraid of being scammed.

Someone suggested, "None of us are doctors. We can't help you. I think you should call an ambulance and have her taken to the hospital."

The woman anxiously said, "I've already called, but the hospital is too far from here. It will take some time for the ambulance to arrive. My mom can't wait that long."

"What disease does the old lady have?" someone asked.

The woman sobbed, "I don't know what's wrong with my mom. She has been in good health, but starting last month, she would often have seizures for no reason, foam at the mouth, and faint.

"We went to the hospital, but they couldn't figure out what was wrong... The doctor said if this continues, my mom may not have much time left."

At this point, tears streamed down the woman's face.

Finally, after a while, the ambulance arrived. The medical staff quickly opened the stretcher, preparing to lift the old lady onto it.

"You can't move her!" A voice suddenly rang out, and a tall figure squeezed in, holding the medical staff's hand—it was James Smith.

"What are you doing?!" The medical staff were blocked and immediately frowned, reprimanding.

Others also looked at James one after another.

"The elderly lady is currently suffering a major health crisis. We shouldn't lift her, else she might pass away right here and now," James Smith stated gravely.

The medical staff, seeing James's seriousness, hesitated and asked, "Are you a doctor?"

James shook his head and answered, "No."

"What! Not a doctor. What are you messing around for here? Get out of the way. If you delay the patient's treatment time, can you afford the responsibility?" The medical staff angrily scolded, trying to push James away.

The woman glared at James fiercely, as if she would rush up and fight him if he didn't move.

James was not afraid at all. He patiently said, "Although I'm not a doctor, I know how to treat this kind of illness."

"What? Can you cure my mom?" The woman immediately rejoiced, grabbing James's hand tightly.

James smiled and nodded. He replied, "I have a seventy percent chance. The patient has a rare form of epilepsy. During a seizure, she must not be moved. Otherwise, it will worsen the condition, and in severe cases, she may die on the spot."

The woman frowned and questioned, "Epilepsy? Are you mistaken? We have specifically visited several hospitals, and this is not epilepsy at all, but a strange disease.

"The doctor said it might be due to calcium deficiency in my mom, but even after giving her a lot of calcium, it didn't work."

James patiently explained, "It is epilepsy, but this type of epilepsy is rare, one in a million, and most doctors are not aware of it."

The medical staff nearby laughed at his nonsense, treating James as a fraud, and impatiently said, "Do you still want to take the patient to the hospital? If not, we have to leave. Our hospital's ambulances are in short supply."

The woman was immediately in a dilemma. Just as she hesitated, James had already knelt down in front of the elderly lady and began to treat her.

He made a strange gesture with his right hand, then lightly tapped on certain acupoints on the acupoints's head, chest, and back, gradually increasing the force.

In less than ten seconds, the elderly lady who had already fainted suddenly made a big movement, as if she was pretending to be dead, startling everyone around.

"Mom!" The woman saw the elderly lady wake up, excitedly called out, tightly hugged her, and cried, "Mom, you woke up! That's great!"

The people around James, seeing James actually waking up the old man, widened their eyes in surprise. Even the medical staff rubbed their eyes. Could this guy really be a healer?

"Young man, thank you, thank you!" The woman was grateful to James, about to kneel down to him. It was evident that the woman was also a filial daughter.

James hurriedly held her, saying, "Sister, you will curse me like this! I just did what I could. It's not a big deal."

The woman still profusely thanked him, so James had to put on a serious face and say, "Sister, the old lady's illness is not completely cured yet. I just temporarily relieved her condition."

"What? How can it be cured? Doctor, as long as you can cure my mom, I'm willing to do anything for you!" the woman said and was about to kneel down again.

James once again held her, saying, "Sister, don't get too excited. Actually, the old lady's illness is not too serious. As long as the method is right, it can be completely cured.

"The method is simple; just follow what I did earlier, along with taking medication. In a year or so, the disease can be completely cured."

Then James explained the method to the woman and wrote her a prescription, so she could go back and get the medicine according to the prescription.

"Okay, okay, thank you, thank you, doctor!" the woman said repeatedly and expressed her gratitude once again.

The people around James had changed their attitudes. They regarded James as a healer, surrounding him and asking for help with their own health issues.

Meanwhile, not far away, a luxurious Bentley was parked by the roadside. The people inside had witnessed the scene just now, and a magnetic voice sounded.

The magnetic voice instructed, "This person seems to have some skills, Virgil, go and call him over."

Virgil asked, "Young master, do you think he can cure Todd's illness?"

The voice replied, "Let's give it a try. What if he really can cure it?"

Virgil said hesitantly, "But Todd's disease isn't an easy one to cure. We've run all over the country in these past two years, and so many renowned doctors have been at their wits' end.

"This young man, looks like he's under thirty. I fear he might not be up to the task, don't you agree?"

The voice replied, "Sigh, I know this all too well. We've scoured the states and sought out so many famed miracle doctors, yet none could heal my father.

"The chances of this young man curing my father are practically nil! But what else can we do right now, other than clutching at straws?"

The voice added, "Let's hope this young man turns out to be our savior."

Despite their words, their tone was filled with skepticism.
