Chapter 4

Phoebe's Pov

Despair - That was the one word that can contain the collective of emotions I felt.

My best friend and protector betrayed the pack. My father, whom I haven't seen for 3 years, was forced to surrender to the enemy even going as her as to kneel to him.

I lost both my parents today. I wanted to badly believe that this was all just another bad dream.

"Get up," Dominic's grip tightened on my arm, compelling me to rise to my feet.

"Let go of me!"

"And why would I do something like that? Didn't you hear your old man? You belong to me now."

The weight of his words pressed down on me, this was my fate now. reality sinked my very being to the lowest depths.

"If I may, Sir," Reynold spoke, interjecting with a respectful tone. "If I may, it's time to address the Silver Night pack."

Dominic released his hold on me, he shifted his attention towards his right hand man.

A tense pause lingered in the air as the dynamics within the room shifted.

The impending address to the Silver Night pack held an unspoken importance, and the atmosphere crackled with anticipation.

It was a pivotal moment, history was in the making, a dark history that is. I steadied myself, the scene of my parent's demise replayed in my head.

"Hmm, yes. They should know that the era of their once beloved Alpha and King is over."

He let's go of me and makes his way to outside. "Reynold, bring her with you."

"Yes sir." With that, Dominic left the palace.

Reynold walked towards me wearing a look of concern. He paused in front of my parent's body and makes a silent bow.

He whispered, "Thankyou once again, I promise, I won't let anything happen to your legacy, after all. That was the role you gave me, to protect the princess."

I darted him a look that houses nothing but rage and killing intent. "Traitor."

"Say what you want, but I didn't betray you. You're still alive and safe."

"Yeah all thanks to my parents whom you betrayed." I countered wiping the last of my tears. I had to steele my resolve, regain my cool and act accordingly.

"Princess Phoebe... Understand, this wasn't personal."

"My gosh can you hear yourself right now? This is way beyond personal."

Reynold didn't say a thing to me again. He simply gestured for me to follow him.

The location was the courtyard. Dominic, Reynold and Me stood side by side. He was ready to address everyone.

"For those of you who don't know me, my name is Dominic... And I am the new Lycan king. Your previous king fell by my hands and now, the Silver Night pack will fall under my rulership. If you want to stay, I protect you all. But if you choose to rebel against me... You will a fate similar to your king."

I cast my gaze across the courtyard to see the aftermath of the battle. We faced alot of casualties and losses.

I scanned through the people gathered in the place. My eyes locked onto Lee and Keith, standing shoulder to shoulder.

A strong wave of emotion seemed to have engulfed them; Keith wrestled with tears, his struggle very evident, while Lee appeared utterly shattered and engulfed by sadness.

It wasn't just Keith and Lee, all the members of the Silver Night pack had lifeless eyes. They lost their king, their luna, their brothers, sisters, lovers and parents. Everyone was in grief. Seeing this further compelled me to compose myself.

The weight of grief hung heavily in the air, it was a burdened shared by each and every member of the pack save for Reynold.

Each face in the crowd mirrored the ache within my own heart. They weren't merely pack members; they family. A family loved and revered by my father.

The news of his death casted a shadow over the entire assembly, an undeniable unavoidable heaviness settling upon each soul.

"A moment of silence for the loss of your king." Dominic commanded.

The courtyard echoed with quiet sadness, showing how much my father, their king meant to them.

"Okay moving on now, I have taken a blood oath with Grunade before his passing. He gave me his blessings to take his only daughter," He pointed at me. "Princess Phoebe is no more, from today henceforth, you shall address her as your new Luna."

Dominic grabs my hand again pulling me close. He squeezes my cheeks and lands a kiss. I felt like going crazy. My parent's murder was kissing me in front of my pack and I was powerless to do anything.

"Consider yourself lucky princess," he breaks away and whispered to my ear. "I have rejected countless potential mates over the course of my life."

"I hate you."

"Doesn't matter. You belong to me now, feel free to commit suicide. Let your parents' sacrifice be for nothing."

"I swear, I will have my vengeance on you. Weather it takes me months, years, decades or even a century... I will be the one to carve out your heart. And I will present it as an offering to my parents's grave."

"Yeah, you do you girl." Dominic responded to my threat as if it came from an infant. "If that's your mating vow, here's mine. I promise to keep you safe. I promise to keep you locked within the castle walls. And I promise to break your spirit."

We exchanged looks when suddenly, a sharp pain seared through my head once again, it was similar to the one I felt earlier but this time, the pain had intensified into something far more excruciating.

Tears streamed down my face as I crumpled to my knees, the agony and torment was unbearable for me to handle anymore. I was

Dominic watched as I suffered with amusement, his eyes revealed a twisted pleasure in my torment. "This is getting good."

I looked at Reynold as he watched me with a look of concern. I just don't get it, if he does care about me, why betray us?

As if to remind me that I didn't have the liberty to be thinking about other things, the pain increases again. My consciousness was slowly slipping away as I fought to stay awake.

"What's happening to me?" I cried out. The unanswered question hung in the air, everyone present watched as I rolled around on the floor like a mad person. There nothing they could do.

"Princess..." Lee called out to me, his teeths were clenched. It was a frustration from being helpless, a feeling I was forced to familiarise with just a few moments ago when Dominic had my parents surrender their lives.

"This shouldn't be happening," Keth couldn't even look. "Reynold, why are you just watching?"

My cries echoed throughout the castle for half an hour. Just when it seemed like the pain might subside, it shoots back up, reaching even greater heights.

My heart throbbed to the pain that ulsed through me, leaving me vulnerable and bewildered.

Having reached my limit, I passed out. However, things only got weirder from there. I found myself in what feels like a dream.

I knew immediately that it wasn't a dream, it was the same as earlier in the palace - those weird memories.

The strange flashes of memories resurfaced, I was left with a single question as the images appeared and disappeared inside my head.

Whose memories were these? The flashes were slower and clearer this time as I was able to depict some of its contents.

I found myself in an unfamiliar place, it was a bustling environment teeming with all sorts of people.

The altar before me immediately caught my attention, it was adorned with a grand flame.

"This design... It's identical to the pictures mother showed me about the coming-of-age mating ceremony."A ceremony I wouldn't be having all because of Dominic.

The memory continued playing in my head, I stood facing a large, indistinct figure. My hand extended towards him, it was a silent invitation for connection.

His features remained obscured. It was all a blur. He neither accepted my gesture nor responded in the way I expected.

Instead, he uttered a string of words. However, I struggled to comprehend what he was saying as his voice was distorted.

The flashes stopped and I woke up to the faces of Reynold and Dominic hovering over me.

"How long have I been out?"

"15 minutes." Reynold replied.

"It felt like a year... So many memories. I could even feel emotions that matched each scene that played iny head:

"Here," Reynold offered me his hand. "You've been through alot. I'll take you to your room."

I was reluctant to accept his help, but right now, I could barely feel my legs let alone move them. Heck, half of my body is numb to the bone.

"Don't expect a Thankyou." I said to him.

Reynold smiled, "Never, it's my job." He wraps my hand over his neck to support me as we move to my room.

Moments later, I finally reached my room. Reynold brought me to my bed where I sat on.

"That will be all now."

"Yes, My Luna."

"I am not your Luna!" I refuted his claims while he walked away.

"Now let's see." I closed my eyes, trying to recollect and reorganise all the memories that I can.

The most crucial one was what the blured faced man said to me...

"I Alpha Dni, rj you ** my L***."

While cracking my head to solve this puzzle, it dawned on me...

"Alpha Dominic." I said with spite. "What was he doing in my visions?
