Chapter 6

Dominic shook me to recover from my deep thoughts. I discovered he was half naked, and the thought of mating with him a man that was self-centered, eroded my mind. Just at that moment, the thought of running away from him came into my mind, as I began to harbour the thought, I decided to put it into action, but...

"What do you think you are doing...ahh," he laughed scornfully. "Come, my Luna, I now own you. Every breath of yours, I control them," Dominic spoke into my ear while each and every syllable of his words resounded in my head. I prayed that the ground would just open and swallow me so I could be free from this terrible nightmare that was seemed to persist without a view of how it would end.

Just in time, he pushed me to the bed, tore my dress, and made his way to eat off my body like a starved dog craving its bone. He had sex with me roughly while I lay there like a log of wood, not participating. After Dominic was done, he picked up his shirt and went back to his chambers, looking like a vampire satisfied with blood.

I went into the bathroom and had my bath. I lifted my face and looked at it in the mirror. "My life is messed up. I wish I could turn back the hands of time. I am nothing but a disgrace to the Silver Pack. With this pain in me, will I be able to liberate my people from the hands of this evil man?" These words came out of my broken soul, the princess of the late Lycan Grunade.

A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. I quickly went to the door, wiping my tears with the back of my palm. "It's Reynold, princess," Reynold called out to me. "I'll be right there in a short time," I replied while heading towards the door and holding it open.

Reynold immediately knelt on his knee, faced down, and spoke in a tender tone. "Princess, I have come to beg for forgiveness. I am sorry for the pain I've caused your family and the entire Silver Night Pack that trusted me. I took it for granted and betrayed the royalty pack. I am so sorry. I am guilty of the death of our Alpha Grunade and our Luna Selene. I am the one who went in search of that particular wolfsbane which was meant to kill your parents. I didn't have a second thought about it. I am sorry, ma'am," Reynold sobbed, with pain in his heart.

I fumed but since he asked for forgiveness, as the reincarnate of the moon goddess who has a beautiful heart, I forgave him with ease. In my eye glittered a teardrop of light as a sign of freedom from a burden.

He felt like a burden was lifted from his shoulders. "Stand up, you are forgiven," I held him by the shoulder and lifted him up. He thanked me and left to his duty posting in the castle yard.

Immediately after Reynold left, another knock on the door of my chambers came. It was Keith on a mission to deliver a message from Alpha Dominic to me. "The king demands your presence in his chambers at the moment," Keith delivered. "I'll be there soon," I responded.

After a few minutes, I entered the chambers wearing a weird look on my face. "My Luna, sit," came the voice of Dominic from the balcony where he sat, taking a view of the town while smoking and drinking. He moved inside, came to my chair, touched my chin, and gave me a peck on the forehead. "Look how beautiful our town is," he said to me. "While that is not my reason for calling you here, I asked for the keys to the dungeon below the castle," Dominic said.

With shock in my eyes, I couldn't believe he was asking for the keys to the dungeon. For what reason specifically, I wasn't aware of the latest development. "I have asked the castle Wolf guards to take down that maid who bumped into me in the hallway and..."

"What!? Why did you have to do that?" I interrupted with utmost disdain on my face. "Never will you do that," I confronted him.

"Haha..." Dominic laughed aloud. "I have already done that, my princess. I didn't have to ask for your permission to do that," he concluded and afterward stepped out, slamming the door behind him.

Lee arrested the maid and handed her over to the dungeon guards, who took her to her cell and locked her up. She sat there and cried, hoping I would come to her rescue, but to no avail.

That night was the night I was meant to burn the corpses of my parents to ashes according to our culture, which demands that no dead corpse should be left unburnt till the morrow.

Throughout that day, I was not myself due to the sequence of bad things that happened, but I had to move on to fight for justice. It was foreseen as a prophecy that the era of the one touched by the moon goddess would eliminate the nefarious one, making the pack a safe haven for good wolves who would inherit it.

My neatly ironed black furry gown was laid on my bed by another castle maid. I sat facing the mirror, crying alongside my parents' pictures that hung on the wall by the mirror, which made me cry even more. But I had to pull myself together for the funeral rites.

Everyone in the pack dressed in their various black furry gowns as they all arrived at the field of the ancients. They all watched the guards set the firewood into the well-decorated royal boat by the River of Peace. Everyone was in pain as they sat, waiting for the princess.
