GRADUATION

Here’s a corrected and slightly refined version of your chapter:

There are lots of students standing in the college hall. Everyone is so happy. Why? Because today is our graduation day. But I am super happy because after this, I can finally go to my dream country, New York. Yeah, I know, everyone's dream country.

"Naina Joshi!" the principal shouted my name, and I quickly stood up from my seat, almost running to the stage. Everyone is clapping, and all my friends are shouting my name. With each step, I feel like I’m one step closer to my dreams.

I’m now standing in front of the principal. He wished me well for my future, and I was smiling at him. Then suddenly, he shouted, "WAKE UP!"

"Wait, sir! Why do you sound like my Ma?" I asked him.

Then I felt something cold on my face. UGH, what’s this now? Water!

I opened my eyes and sat up in bed, looking around my room in shock. Why am I in my room? I was in college, right?

Then I felt someone looking at me with anger. I turned and saw Ma standing there with a bucket in her hand, glaring at me.

Oh no! This was just a dream. God, when will this dream come true?

Ma said, "When will you go to college?"

"COLLEGE?" I asked, still half asleep.

Hearing my question, Ma slapped her forehead and said, "Hey Parameshwara (Oh God), what am I going to do with her?"

I rolled my eyes. Just an Asian mom thing.

"Today is your graduation day; don’t you remember?"

At that moment, my sleep vanished into thin air.

"WHAT?" I asked, shock written all over my face.

She stood there with her hands on her hips, raising one eyebrow. I quickly grabbed my phone and saw that today was Monday. But how? Just yesterday was Saturday, and now it’s already Monday? Why, God, why does the weekend crawl by like a tortoise and fly away like a rabbit? Ugh!

I quickly jumped out of bed, gave Ma a quick hug, and ran to the washroom to get ready. I was brushing my teeth while listening to Ma complain to Papa about how much he spoils me. Just tell me, whose father doesn’t spoil his daughter?

After getting ready, I ran to the hall. Well, it’s a room, but I call it the hall to satisfy myself, don’t ask me why. coming there I immediately plopped down on the bed.

"My breakfast!" I shouted toward the kitchen.

Ma came within a minute with breakfast. After handing it to me, she went back to the kitchen. I was eating when Ma started taunting me about how I should wake up early and make breakfast for myself. What will I do when she’s not around?

After finishing my breakfast, I grabbed my bag and headed out the door. Not before reminding Ma and Papa to come to the college on time. I hugged Papa, kissed Ma, grabbed my bike keys from the table, and left the house. I started my bike and made my way to college.

Let me tell you something: when I go to college, whenever I see any boys, I whistle at them or wink at them. The way they do to girls, not to all, obviously.

Why do I do this? Well, because I like that awkward look on their faces.

Why not let them taste their own medicine?

Everyone is clapping. I’m holding my graduation degree in my hand with so many dreams, smiling straight at my parents, who are crying and looking at me with pride. Yes, Papa, Ma, I promise you that one day I will change our livesβ€”the life you couldn’t live because of me.

I came down from the stage and headed toward my parents, hugging them tightly. Almost the whole college came to congratulate me. Why not? I’m a famous studentβ€”not because I’m a topper or anything like that. I was famous for being a pain in their ass. There wasn’t a single day when a complaint didn’t reach my house, about how I beat someone up or some other thing. All my teachers and the principal are happier than me about my graduation. Why not? From now on, there will be no more fights, no more complaints, and no more parents shouting, "Look how she beat my child." Nothing.

So tell me, how’s the chapter? Don’t be a silent reader.
