Chapter 5 Loan for Money
Steven replied, "My name is Steven Rogers. Is there any issue with my order?"
Brian was taken aback; this was the first time their hotel had encountered such a situation since its opening.
However, it was such a large order that they would definitely accept it.
"Mr. Rogers, the amount of food required is not small. If you need it, we can prepare it right away, but we need you to pay a $30,000 deposit in advance."
Steven responded, "No problem, send me your account details, and I'll transfer the money."
Money talked, and Brian readily agreed, then added Steven as a friend and sent him the bank account details.
Steven transferred the $30,000 without hesitation.
On Brian's end, after confirming with the finance department that the deposit had been received, he immediately started instructing various departments.
"Hurry! We've got a big order. Tell the procurement department to stock up quickly, and the kitchen should temporarily stop taking other delivery orders!"
"We need to prepare all the dishes the customer wants within a day!"
On the other side, after hanging up the phone, Steven couldn't help but sigh, "Although money will be useless in a month, I still need it to buy things now."
In his hands, the inheritance from his parents and his own savings totaled about $300,000.
Now, half of it was gone just like that. He felt a bit distressed.
But on second thought, it was also a good thing.
Many people held onto a lot of money, which later became worthless paper.
Not everyone had the chance to spend their money.
"However, there are still many things I need money for. I have to find a way to get enough money."
Steven's eyes fell on his house.
This house was located in the center of Starlight City, with an area of 1,200 square feet, and the community was built 10 years ago.
According to the current market, 10 square feet cost more than $5,000.
In other words, this house was worth at least $600,000 now.
"I get it. I can mortgage the house to get a loan. That way, I'll have money." Steven smiled excitedly. The best part was that he wouldn't have to repay the loan, which was truly delightful.
He immediately left home, got in his car, and drove to the bank to apply for a loan.
On the way, he received a message from Alice.
Alice:[Steven, weekends are so boring. I really wish someone could take me out.]
Steven glanced at it and then tossed his phone aside.
He arrived at the bank to handle the loan business.
Due to the large loan amount, Steven's complete documents, and the absence of an existing mortgage on the house, his loan was approved quickly. However, the bank only granted him a $550,000 loan.
Steven didn't push for more; after all, it was money he didn't need to repay, and he didn't have time to argue with the bank.
After signing the papers, the bank transferred the money to his account.
"Now, after spending over $100,000 on the dishes, I still have about $700,000 left."
"This money should be enough to renovate the house. However, I still need to buy a lot of medicine and weapons. This money might not be enough."
Steven stroked his chin, pondering how to get more money.
At that moment, a rogue on the roadside noticed Steven deep in thought. His eyes lit up, and he immediately approached. "Hey, do you need money?" he asked.
Steven looked up at the rogue. "Who are you?"
The rogue's smile deepened, and he lowered his voice to ask, "I'm just asking if you need money right now and the bank won't lend it to you?"
Hearing this, Steven immediately understood what this guy was up to.
He was definitely a loan shark!
Steven's mind started to churn with ideas.
He sighed and pretended to be in a dilemma, saying, "You're right; my family's business urgently needs funds to keep running. But the bank..."
At this point, Steven deliberately showed a troubled expression.
The rogue also put on a helpful demeanor.
Anyone who could borrow money through normal channels from a bank wouldn't choose to go to a loan shark.
He said to Steven, "These days, the conditions for borrowing from banks are really harsh! They usually have all sorts of requirements, and the loan disbursement process is slow."
"But buddy, if you urgently need money, I can help you out," the rouge offered.
Steven looked cautiously at the rogue. "You? Can you really do it? I need tens of thousands of dollars!"
Hearing it was a big deal, the rogue's eyes clearly lit up with excitement.
He took out a business card from his pocket and handed it to Steven.
"Our company specializes in helping those in financial distress. If you need money, we're the right choice!"
Steven glanced at the card, which read "Super Loan Financial Services Limited."
And the rogue's title was Business Manager Robert Lewis.
Steven said excitedly, "You can really lend me money? I need $700,000. If you can help me out, I promise I can pay it back within three months at most!"
Robert smiled. "That's easy. Our company is very capable. We specialize in helping people like you who need funds."
"Come on, let's go to the office and discuss this further," Robert said.
With a look of anticipation, Steven nodded and followed Robert to their company.
The so-called company was in a secluded office building.
Once inside, Robert led Steven to the boss's office.
The boss of this loan company looked very robust but was dressed in a high-end Benetton suit.
It was clear he was trying to create the image of a legitimate company.
However, there was a hint of menace in his eyes.
If this boss hadn't been hustling in society for years, he wouldn't have that look.
Robert introduced Steven's basic situation to the boss. "Manager, this is a client who wants to borrow money from us."
The boss's name was Vincent Edwards. Upon seeing Steven, he smiled and invited him to sit down.
"Mr. Rogers, how much money would you like to borrow?" Vincent asked.
True to being a loan shark company, their conversation was straightforward and to the point.
Such companies were inherently illegitimate, so they didn't have many formalities.
Moreover, they had plenty of ways to make you repay, so they weren't worried about you defaulting.
Steven said, "I want to borrow $700,000."
Vincent frowned, "That's not a small amount. But Mr. Rogers, let me be clear upfront: our interest rates are very high. You need to be prepared for that."
Robert chimed in, "Mr. Rogers's business urgently needs funds. Once the business turns around, the money will be earned back quickly. Right?"
The two of them worked in perfect sync, and Steven took it all in.
Still pretending to be desperate, Steven said, "Yes, I can repay it quickly. High interest is fine! Just lend me the money."
