Chapter 3 How Many Times Did We Hook Up Last Night?

Seraphina's Perspective:

I got tossed into the dungeon, hitting the cold, hard ground with a thud. The sound of the chains locking up sent a shiver down my spine. I gritted my teeth against the pain and forced myself to stand, hugging my shivering body against the damp, chilly air.

At that moment, I couldn't help but think of the warmth from last night, and my cheeks burned with embarrassment. I must be out of my mind to think of him now. After all, he had taken advantage of me, and he was far from a good guy.

Tears of anger and frustration streamed down my face. Carol used to be just an ordinary Beta. If it weren't for his relationship with my mom, he wouldn't be where he is today. Now, he was using my mom's legacy to mistreat me with another woman! If my mom could see this from heaven, she'd be furious!

My anger surged, and I pounded the ground with my fist. Exhausted from last night's events, I soon drifted into a fitful sleep.

"Seraphina."

In a daze, I heard someone calling my name. I struggled to open my heavy eyelids and saw Amy Williams, a servant, looking at me with concern from outside the iron bars. Amy's mom was my mom's confidante, and we grew up together. In this house, she was the only one who truly cared about me.

Seeing me awake, Amy smiled reassuringly. "Seraphina, I brought you some food. Please eat."

To avoid worrying her, I forced myself to walk over and sit down despite the soreness in my body. "Why's today's meal so good?" I asked, eyeing the steak and veggies on the plate. Usually, when I'm locked up, I get nothing but stale bread or spoiled soup.

"We have a guest at the house. Carol valued him a lot and had a lot of food prepared.. I snuck some out while they weren't looking. Eat as soon as possible before they find out," Amy said, glancing nervously over her shoulder.

"A guest?" I thought of the foul-smelling Baron and frowned in disgust. That disgusting beast must be back again.

I said to Amy, "Amy, keep an eye on things upstairs and let me know if anything seems off."

I refuse to sit here and do nothing. Even if it means my death, I won't let Carol have his way.

"Okay," Amy replied and left.

To conserve my strength, I forced myself to eat all the food despite my discomfort.

Silas Everhart's Perspective:

I fiddled with the necklace in my hand, feeling a bit annoyed. Last night, under the influence of the full moon, I ended up with a female wolf. I've never lost control like that before, nor have I ever met a female wolf who matched me so well. Ironically, when I woke up, she had fled. As the most powerful Alpha in the tribe, countless female werewolves threw themselves at me, but I couldn't care less.

I had planned to give that woman a title, but she ran off. If it weren't for this necklace she left behind, I'd be the one who got ditched.

I chuckled in disbelief.

"Mr. Everhart, it is our honor to host you. How may I assist you today?" Carol asked cautiously.

"Whose necklace is this?" I couldn't be bothered to engage with him, so I tossed the necklace onto the table. "She knows why I'm here."

I was curious to see how that bold woman would react when she saw me.

Carol glanced at the necklace, then at Cecilia, too afraid to speak.

"It's mine," Cecilia said fearfully, stepping forward.

"Yours?" I gave her a once-over. Though last night was a blur, I remembered the woman only vaguely—she looked similar to Cecilia, yet not quite the same.

Cecilia replied, "Yes, it's mine. My name is engraved on the back, but this necklace—"

"Make a choice," I interrupted, feeling inexplicably irritated and not wanting to hear more.

I had thought she was special, but beyond her bravery, there was nothing particularly remarkable about her. Her appearance, physique, and personality were quite ordinary.

"What?" Cecilia asked, clearly frightened, her voice trembling.

"One, name anything you want—money, whatever, as much as you want. Two," I glanced at her, feeling very reluctant, then continued, "be my woman."

"What?" Cecilia gasped, her eyes wide in disbelief.

Carol and Ophelia exchanged shocked glances.

"I'm not an irresponsible werewolf. You and I were so in sync, but I don't particularly appreciate forcing anyone. So, the choice is yours. You don't have to answer right away; take your time to think about it." Having said my piece, I didn't want to stay any longer. I stood up, ready to leave.

"I'll be your woman!" Cecilia's voice rang out behind me, barely able to contain her excitement.

"It's an honor for Cecilia to become your wife," Carol added, unable to hide his joy.

Their happiness only soured my mood. Still, I handed Cecilia the card that symbolized my status.

"Thank you," Cecilia said, taking it eagerly.

"How many times did we hook up last night?"

Even though I was pretty sure it was her, I still had doubts because the woman from last night felt so different from the one standing before me now.

"I lost count," Cecilia said, lowering her head shyly. "Many times."

Indeed, it was many times.

I nodded, not lingering any longer, and turned to leave. Maybe it was the effect of the drugs that made my feelings so contradictory.
