Unseen Bonds

Ashina's POV

I walked towards the window and tried to open it gently but it was stuck because it was more like an abandoned room, and no one went there.

I looked at our pack and it was very beautiful. As the sun was gradually going down it shone over the only river in our pack, casting a beautiful glow on the deep blue water.

I stood on the window and let out a breath I did not realise I was holding in.

“Goodbye world, it's been a pleasure been among the beautiful people of the earth”

“Is this your plan?” Nala quickly yelled out

“Don't do this, it's a very bad idea. You could decide to confront him or run away. Why do you want to kill yourself? No please don't do this” Nala continued to plead with me but I refused to listen to her as I held one of my legs up and was about to jump, when I heard a familiar voice from behind me

“Stop Ashina, you are making a very big mistake. Please come down, I need to talk to you”

I turned around and it was Zeeb, the alpha’s twin brother. What was he doing here? How did he even know I was there?

“I am sorry but I have already made up my mind, and there is nothing you can do to stop me”

I proceeded to take my second foot off the window, when he quickly held me and dragged me down from the window.

“Leave me alone, I struggled with him and that was the only thing I remembered before it all became dark and I could hear faint voices before finally passing out.

“Beep, beep” was the sound that woke me up. I gently opened my eyes and looked around only to find myself in a room that looked so much like a hospital. I looked at my hand and I saw a drip attached to it, water was on one side while blood was on the other side.

“What is going on?” I asked no one in particular and I heard the voice I dreaded the most in my life

“My love, I am so glad you are awake. How are you feeling?”

“I am fine, your grace” I did not turn around to look at him but I knew someone was obviously in the room with us for him to be sounding so nice to me.

“If not for Zeeb that found you in the hallway passed out, only the moon goddess knows what would have happened to you”

His statement only meant one thing, Zeeb did not tell him what really happened.

Soon enough the pack physician came into the room and Lobo quickly stood up and came close to me, pecking my forehead and standing in front of me.

“I see you are up. How are you feeling today?” The pack physician asked me and I wondered for how long I had been in the hospital.

“I feel much better sir, I am grateful for your care”.

He went further to explain what happened to me

“You became dizzy as a result of anaemia”

I could not argue because oftentimes when Lobo and his ruthless wolves ravage other clans that refuse to surrender to him, he would compel me to heal them and I did so by giving them my blood.

“Now that you are pregnant, you have to eat well and make sure you rest to avoid this kind of incident happening again”..

“Who is pregnant?” I asked out loud and I immediately held my hands across my mouth when I realised everyone heard me.

“Congratulations my love, we are pregnant. Finally I will have an heir that would be strong and courageous like me. He would rule after me and make me proud” Lobo's words angered me but I had no choice but to chuckle nervously.

The pack physician turned to Lobo and gave him certain instructions that he should abide by if he wanted the pregnancy to be successful.

Lobo assured him of his support and unending care to ensure the baby arrived safely.

The physician gave me some drugs and asked me to see him in two weeks.

He said they would let me go after they confirmed that I was strong enough to go.

He smiled at me and Lobo before he left the room. It was after he left the room that I realised Lobo's kind words to me initially was because he knew I was pregnant. He wanted a son that would inherit my genes and abilities and despite my continuous pleas to the moon goddess not to grant his heart desire, it finally came to pass.

I faced the wall and tears began to flow from my eyes. But Lobo would not allow me to sob in peace as he called my name and I turned to face him.

“I am so happy Ashina, finally I get to carry my own son” I smiled wearily and his smile soon changed into a frown

“Why are you not happy?” He asked me and I had to force myself to smile amidst the pain I felt

“I am just feeling a bit weak, but I assure you that I am very happy”

He said he could not wait for us to get back home and I dreaded it. He might not hit me any more but there was no end to what to expect from Lobo. He was all shades of evil.

He said he had to go because there was rumours of rogue wolves entering some small clans through the wasteland

“My driver would pick you up and take you home. Be a good girl till I return. I nodded my head as he placed a kiss on my lips.

I just hope he remembers the doctor's words and does not make me heal his wounded wolves when they return.

As the door closed one thing kept troubling my mind, how did Zeeb find me in the attic?
