Chapter 2 Lily, who is he?

Tiffany Reed was Edward's stepmother, and Nicole was her niece. During dinner, Nicole and the Wellington family enjoyed the meal harmoniously.

Only Edward was frowning, without any appetite.

Lily left with Landon without taking any of their valuable possessions, including the $20 million and the mansion.

"Where is Lily? Why didn't she come down for dinner?" Patrick Wellington, Edward's father, asked curiously.

"We got divorced. We've signed the agreement," Edward replied, looking down. "We'll set a date to finalize the divorce procedures."

Patrick was stunned. "Divorced? Why?"

"Oh, Patrick, I've told you before. Edward and Lily were never a good match. Your father arranged their marriage," Tiffany sighed.

"Lily had been suffering for three years, and now she's willing to end this marriage and live separate lives with Edward. It's actually a good thing for both of them. You know that Edward has always loved Nicole," Tiffany explained.

"Edward, marriage is not a game. And besides, Lily..." Patrick started to say.

"Dad, we've already signed the divorce agreement. Lily has also left without taking anything," Edward said impatiently, furrowing his brow.

"Well, the country girl certainly has some guts," Debra Wellington, Tiffany's eldest daughter, sneered. "I hope she won't go around saying that the Wellington family mistreated her."

Edward felt a hint of anger after hearing this.

"Edward, you acted too hastily this time. Your grandfather is still ill. How will you explain this to him?" Patrick was anxious because he worried that Edward's grandfather, Byron Wellington, would be angered by this.

"I will tell him the truth. And next month, I will publicly announce the wedding news and officially marry Nicole," Edward declared.

Nicole gazed at Edward's handsome profile, feeling as if she had fallen into a honey jar.

"You're being ridiculous! Leaving your wife of three years just like that? If this gets out, your reputation will be ruined!" Tiffany scolded.

"I don't care about my reputation. Lily was never the woman I wanted," Edward said in a resolute tone, showing no hint of regret.

"Please don't blame Edward. Blame me instead," Nicole leaned on Edward's broad shoulder, crying. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have appeared in front of Edward... I will return to Mythorica tomorrow morning. Edward, please reconcile with Lily. I don't want to be the one who tears you apart..."

"Nicole, this is not your fault," Edward looked at Nicole earnestly, holding her delicate hand. "Lily and I are finished. You have endured for me for three years. I won't let you suffer anymore."

The cool evening breeze was refreshing.

Landon brought Evelyn to Crescent River to relax. They boarded a cruise ship to admire the stunning city night view.

"Landon, you made me sad!" Evelyn looked around at the couples surrounding them with a gloomy face. "This is a popular place for couples' dates! I never dare to come here usually, OK?"

"Really? Then blame Simon. He said there would be fireworks here at exactly 8 pm," Landon elegantly lifted his wrist to check his watch. "Five, four, three, two, one."

With a bang, a huge red and purple firework burst into the sky.

All the couples moved to the deck, and gradually, more people gathered on the riverbank.

"Simon's taste is really outdated," Evelyn shook her head helplessly, but she felt warm inside.

"Think about the weird gifts you've received over the years. This is already an improvement," Landon said.

Landon put his arm around Evelyn's shoulder and gently pulled her into his embrace. "Today, your gifts are not limited to this. We have prepared everything for you. Your room is filled with gifts. Evelyn, many people love you. Give your love and time to those who are worth it."

Evelyn couldn't help but shed tears, deeply moved.

And at that moment, a black Maybach stopped outside the crowd.

Edward held Nicole's hand as they got out of the car. The cool night breeze made her quickly lean into his arms.

"Wow, such beautiful fireworks! Edward, look!" Nicole often preserved her innocence when she was in front of Edward, and he loved that about her.

On the other hand, Lily was not romantic, dull, and too introverted. Nothing about her suited his taste.

Over the past three years, she had only one advantage: she was obedient enough and listened well.

But that didn't matter. She was not the person Edward wanted at all.

Nicole and Edward walked to the railing. Suddenly, two fireworks burst simultaneously and formed two characters in the sky.

"Happy birthday!"

"Oh, it turns out someone is celebrating their birthday. Who could receive such a gift? That person must be very happy." Nicole sighs with envy.

Edward's face suddenly darkened. An invisible force gripped his heart, and his thin lips pressed into a straight line.

Today was Lily's birthday, so he wondered if these fireworks were Landon's birthday gift to her.

Suddenly, a clear and beautiful voice entered Edward's ears. It felt so familiar!

The cruise ship passed them, and a striking couple stood on the deck—Lily and Landon!

"Hey? It's Lily! Who is the man beside her? He looks somewhat familiar. They seem to have a good relationship," Nicole innocently asked.

Edward's face instantly became gloomy. The veins on the back of his hand gripping the railing stood out.

He thought to himself, ‘As expected!’

‘We haven't officially divorced yet. She couldn't wait to spend the night with another man and stay in his arms. In the afternoon, she cried in front of me. What did she mean?’

The cruise ship made two rounds before docking at the shore.

After the tourists dispersed, Landon put his arm around Evelyn's waist and got off the boat.

"Lily!"

Hearing the call, Evelyn immediately tensed up.

She turned around slowly and noticed Edward approaching her in the dim light. His handsome face still held a charm for her.

But what did that charm matter now? Her love had been shattered by the man who had once captivated her for thirteen years. She had given up entirely.

"Who is he?" Edward looked cold and oppressive.

"Mr. Wellington, it seems like your memory is poor." Landon held Evelyn tightly and calmly replied, "In the business world, we have met more than once."

"Lily, answer my question." Edward ignored Landon and continued to press on step by step.

"We have already divorced, Mr. Wellington. Regardless of who this gentleman is, why does it concern you?" Evelyn replied coldly and resolutely.

Edward felt shocked. He couldn't believe that Lily, who had always been gentle and pleasant, would speak to him in this tone!

"We haven't officially divorced yet. Are you so eager to be with another man?"

Although Edward had cheated in the marriage, he acted as if he were not at fault.

Landon's face darkened. He was about to step forward but was blocked by Evelyn.

She was actually defending another man, which made Edward even more displeased!

"We haven't officially divorced yet, Mr. Wellington, but your lover couldn't wait to move into your house. I didn't complain about it. Mr. Wellington, what right do you have to interfere with me being with someone else?"

Evelyn's hair fluttered in the wind, and a mocking smile appeared on her red lips. She was stunningly beautiful and had an untamed wildness about her, but this was a side of her that he had never seen before. "What? As my ex-husband, you can be with someone else. Can't I be with someone else?"

Her words were truly unpleasant. Edward was speechless in the face of her rebuttal!

Nicole, who had lost Edward earlier, had just caught up to him. When she saw that he still cared about Lily, she stomped her foot in anger. In her high heels, she twisted her ankle and fell to the ground.

"Ah! Edward! My foot hurts!"

Only then did Edward come back to his senses and hurriedly turned to help Nicole on the ground.

When he looked back at Evelyn, she and Landon had already disappeared, just like a deeply in love couple.
