Chapter 4 She Just Wants a Divorce

Sharon froze for a moment, then started to struggle desperately.

Just thinking about how Alex had kissed Ava last night made her feel nothing but disgust and anger.

"Let go!" She struggled wildly, but Alex's hand around her waist didn't loosen at all.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he kissed her fiercely, his face full of possessiveness.

Sharon was furious and bit his lip hard, the strong taste of blood spreading in both their mouths.

However, far from releasing his grip, Alex's other hand daringly ventured beneath the folds of Sharon's robe.

Her body stiffened suddenly; then, she struggled even more violently. "Alex, get off me!"

Alex acted as if he didn't hear, his fingers constantly teasing her sensitive spots. "Sharon, you need me too, don't you?"

Sharon's struggles were futile, and she felt increasingly desperate.

Finally, as Alex pressed against her, she closed her eyes in despair. "Alex, don't make me hate you."

Alex's actions suddenly stopped, and he looked down at Sharon, his pupils involuntarily contracting.

He had never seen her like this, full of despair and pain, like a delicate doll that could shatter at any moment.

He wanted her desperately. But at the same time, a voice in his head told him that if he took her this time, it would be the end for them.

Alex stared at Sharon, his hand on her waist tightening, his eyes full of struggle.

After a dozen seconds, Alex suddenly let go of her, got up, and quickly left the bed.

The bedroom door slammed shut, the loud noise making Sharon shudder, and she clutched the blanket tighter.

For the next few days, Alex didn't come back.

Sharon called him several times to discuss the divorce, but he didn't respond at all.

Soon, it was the weekend, and she was in the living room, sending out resumes to find a job. The door to the villa suddenly opened, and Alex walked in.

After a few days, Alex seemed to have become more haggard.

Their eyes met, and both remained silent.

Sharon was the first to break the silence. She closed her laptop and stood up, looking at him calmly. "Since you're back, let's talk about the divorce," she said.

Alex frowned. "I told you I won't divorce you. I came back today to remind you that we have dinner at the Smith Mansion tonight."

The Smith family had a monthly family dinner, and ever since Sharon married Alex, they went to the Smith Mansion every month.

The Smith family members were not easy to get along with and didn't think much of her. Every time she went there, Sharon would be subtly and overtly picked on.

In the past, Sharon could comfort herself that as long as Alex loved her, nothing else mattered, but after seeing that scene, she could no longer deceive herself.

She said, "I don't want to go. You go by yourself."

Alex's expression showed some helplessness and a bit of impatience. "Sharon, how long are you going to keep this up?"

Sharon said, "I'm not keeping anything up. I just want a divorce."

Hearing the word 'divorce,' Alex's last bit of patience wore thin.

He said, "Divorce? Since we got married, you haven't worked. What will you live on after the divorce? Which company would hire you? And what about your dad's medical bills? Can you afford them?"

"Sharon, you're not a teenager anymore. You're 28 years old. Can you be a bit more mature?"

"I'm the CEO of the Smith Group. It's inevitable to face various temptations. Sometimes, it's hard to resist, but those women will never affect your position as Mrs. Smith. What more do you want?"

Why couldn't Sharon understand that he still loved her, but he would never have just her in his life?

Looking at his aggressive demeanor, Sharon couldn't reconcile him with the shy Alex, who blushed while confessing his love in college and promising never to let her be sad.

Maybe this was the real Alex: selfish, arrogant, and high above.

Sharon said, "If your so-called maturity means tolerating your infidelities, sorry, I can't be mature. Find another woman. This is the divorce agreement I had a lawyer draft. Sign it when you have time."

Looking at the document Sharon handed over, Alex took it and flipped through it. When he saw the property division section, he couldn't help but sneer, "I didn't realize you had such an appetite, wanting to take half of my assets. Do you think that's possible?"

"This is what I deserve. Why not?" Sharon said.

Alex chuckled softly and said leisurely, "Look around this house. What did you pay for? And in the years we've been married, I've been paying for your dad's medical bills. If we really calculate, you should be giving me money. Do you want me to have a lawyer do the math?"

Looking at Alex's harsh demeanor, Sharon couldn't believe she had once loved such a person.

She said, "Alex, don't forget, if it weren't for me giving you that patent, you wouldn't have secured your position as CEO of the Smith Group. And after we got married, you told me to stay home. If I had continued my research, I would have earned more than what you've given me these years!"

Back then, she willingly gave her drug patent to Alex to help him stabilize his career. She trusted Alex unconditionally, but he betrayed her.

He didn't care and said indifferently, "Do you think anyone would believe you now if you talked about the patent?"

"I don't want to argue about money, but if you insist on the divorce, I have to settle accounts with you. Sharon, as long as you don't bring up the divorce again, you can still use my money freely."

"Alex, you're utterly shameless!" Sharon shouted.

Since Alex wouldn't agree to the divorce, she had no choice but to file a lawsuit with a lawyer.

She turned to leave but was stopped by Alex.

He said, "Go change your clothes and come with me to the family dinner."

"I said I'm not going. Just tell them I'm not feeling well," as soon as she finished speaking, Alex grabbed her wrist and said in a deep voice, "Sharon, my patience is running thin. Don't force me to cut off your dad's medical bills!"

"You wouldn't dare!" Sharon said.

Alex immediately took out his phone and called his secretary, "Hello, about my father-in-law's medical bills for next month..."

Sharon couldn't believe Alex would actually do it. Her eyes turned red with anger as she snatched his phone and ended the call. "Alex, don't go too far."

"Too far?" Alex yanked her close and said condescendingly, "Sharon, everything you have now is because of me. Go change your clothes, or I have many ways to make you comply."
