Chapter 6 Confession Ⅱ
"What do you mean you died? You're alive and well," he said as if reading my mind.
"I know that's why I need you of all people. You're the only one who will understand and listen to me. You're the only one I can trust with this secret," I pleaded.
"What secret would you want to tell the son of a driver?" he questioned harshly.
"Please stop referring to me like that. It was a mistake of the past, and now I regret what I did to you. I'm begging for your forgiveness, but why are you making it so difficult for me to earn your trust again?" I cried out.
"I know you're hurting, and now I'm in even more pain than you," I admitted.
"Fine, explain what's going on. Why did you say you died?" he asked, calming down and sitting beside me.
"The goddess gave me a second chance," I began, but he still didn't seem to understand.
“I was targeted for assassination. I died, but at the last moment, I wished for a second chance, and the Moon goddess granted it to me. I'm afraid and unsure of what to do, but I trust you. In my past life, you were the only one by my side through everything,” I explained to Loki. He looked at me as though I'd just spoken another language.
"Two years from now?" Loki asked, puzzled.
"Yes, two years from now, I returned because the Moon goddess wanted me to correct my mistakes. I now know whom to trust and how to navigate everything," I replied.
"Who orchestrated your assassination?" Loki inquired, but I couldn't reveal it yet. Ronald and Natasha were behind it, but disclosing that might provoke Loki into rash actions.
"I can't tell you yet," I said.
“Does that mean you still don't trust me? You wanted me to play a significant role in your current life, but how can I do that if you don't trust me?” Loki pressed.
“It's not that I don't trust you. It's just not the right time to tell you. There's more you need to know. I have to explain everything about why I came back, but today isn't the day. Today, it's about you forgiving me and us starting anew, if you want to,” I told him. Loki seemed surprised.
“You wrapped all that up just for me to forgive you when I already have?” he smiled. “I forgave you the moment you stood up for me in the meeting.”
“I just needed to make sure you heard it from me, not through rumors. I didn't want to keep secrets from you. I want to share everything with you, so you understand,” I said, and he chuckled, holding me tightly.
“At least I'm allowed to hug the Luna,” Loki teased.
“Why would you dare hug the Queen?” I joked back.
"I've already decided to forgive you since you defended me earlier, so checking on you was out of concern," he said, smiling.
“Now that we're on good terms, I hope nothing will make us turn against each other again. You know how deeply my parents' death affected me, especially since your father was the driver. It all complicated things, and I was angry, not just at you, but also at myself,” I explained.
“I understand. I was grieving my father's death, too,” he replied.
“We were both in so much pain that we took it out on each other. I'm sorry for directing my anger at you. I'm being careful not to repeat that mistake because our friendship means everything to me,” I admitted.
“It's okay, but next time, don't use sickness as an excuse to see me,” Loki teased.
“I need to leave now. It's not safe for me to be alone with you,” Loki said, standing up.
I couldn’t resist grabbing his wrist, causing him to look at me awkwardly.
Drawing closer until we were mere inches apart, I felt his eyes on my lips.
"I really should go," he murmured softly, almost as if he didn't mean it.
As much as I craved that kiss, I knew it wouldn't go the way I desired.
He quickly regained composure and gently pushed me away.
"Let's not do this," he said firmly, turning to leave. But then, as if drawn back by an invisible force, he hesitated, his gaze locking with mine. In that suspended moment, everything seemed to hang in the balance—the tension, the unspoken desires.
Before I could react, he closed the distance between us in one swift motion, his lips meeting mine in a sudden, intense kiss. It was electrifying, sending a jolt through my entire body. For a fleeting moment, time seemed to stand still as we melted into each other.
I stood there, stunned, replaying the touch of his lips in my mind. It left me longing for more, yet uncertain of what it meant for us.
