A New Begining

Elena's POV

The drive to Red Blood pack had been short and silent. I stole glances at him while he kept his eyes fixated on the road.

“If you are going to keep trying to look at me, I would strongly advise that you try to make it less obvious that you are drooling over me. But not to worry, Elena Hanson, I am all yours.” He teased, and my face blushed red.

“I… I wasn't even looking at you. What am I even supposed to look at?” I said, pretending to be unaffected by what he had just said. He chuckled, the sound flowing richly from the depth of his stomach. I loved the sound of it and even though I was in the dark about him being my mate or not, I didn't totally dislike the idea.

“So, what brought you this far? You are not from these sides, considering… You know.” He said, and his eyes ran over my body, I recoiled in shame. These were the best clothes I had, and they had been gifted to me by a childhood friend who had long found her mate and gone to be with him in his pack.

“I just needed to leave where I was. It was no longer home to me. Not like it was ever home, but, it was evident that I had to go.” I said, trying not to provide details about my past since I didn't really know him yet.

Although, I had this feeling in my heart that I was safe with him and could totally trust him. He seemed like a nice guy and not like those things I had heard about him before now.

“Well, welcome to your new home, then.” He announced, and we entered one of the most magnificent and beautiful compounds I have ever seen. It was hard to believe that this was my life now, even not as his mate. But, to have somewhere good to lay my head.

My mind suddenly drifted to the things I left at the uncompleted building and the kind grandpa who had offered me water.

“I have to go back,” I said suddenly, wondering why I had said that loud even though I was only practicing what to say to him in my mind.

“What the fuck? Go back to where? A place you just claimed was no longer home to you?” He asked, looking at me like I had suddenly grown two heads after stopping abruptly on the never-ending driveway.

“No, no. Not there. I slept somewhere and left my things there. An old man is taking care of my things, and I don't want him to wait for a long while.” I explained. He had a puzzled look in his eyes like he was not believing what he was hearing me say.

“You want to go back because of your clothes?” He asked me and I wondered what was so bad about wanting to get my things.

“Yes and say thank you to the kind grandpa,” I said innocently and he started laughing.

He laughed for about two minutes before shaking his head.

“You know what, settle down here first and meet everyone. I'll have someone go to the location and pick up your things. The kind grandpa will also be handsomely rewarded. So, don't worry your pretty redhead about that.” He assured me and continued driving to the entrance, laughing at intervals.

I felt stupid, but I bit my lips hard to stop myself from crying. I was tired of everyone seeing me as a fool and treating me like a weakling. I made up my mind to stand for myself and if I face the smallest ounce of disrespect, I will leave. Not stopping to think about the consequences.

“Welcome to my home and now, yours.” He said, and I looked to see the number of people waiting to receive me. They were celebrating like it was the arrival of someone important, so I just imagined that they were having an important guest before I came. They probably made a mistake and thought it was me since it was the Alpha that had brought me.

A beautiful woman hurried towards us. She was tall and beautiful, one of the most gorgeous beings that I had ever set my eyes on. She had maroon-colored hair that stood in sharp contrast against her white skin. Her dress was perfect, and she had this queenly aura about her that my first instinct was to fall at her feet and worship her.

Surprisingly, she gathered me into a warm hug.

“My daughter, welcome home. I am Grand Luna Rossi and this rascal over here is my son.” She said and laughed. She looked exactly like her laughter, soft, rich, and elegant. I stood there, lips tied, the words stuck in my throat and refusing to roll off my tongue.

“That's enough mother. She needs to go in and get settled. It's been a long day for her.” He briefly explained and that was when I realized that everything happening was to welcome me. He had actually called to inform them of my arrival. It must have definitely been the time he took three minutes to do something.

In all the years of my existence, no one had ever been so happy with having me around. Especially for people who did not know anything else about me apart from what their Alpha must have told them.

“Good…good evening Grand Luna Rossi” I managed to greet her, and she laughingly waved it off.

“Call me mom. I am your mom now. Let's get you inside and cleaned up.” She said, leading me through the ecstatic crowd. It was obvious that everyone in this pack loved and respected Wesley. They also trusted his judgment a lot to be able to treat a complete stranger this way just because he said so.

After I settled in and showered, the Grand Luna Rossi walked in.

“Darling, you should stay in Wesley's room. He just told me you refused.” She said calmly.

“I… I don't… I don't really know him.” I said, trying not to sound stupid.
