Chapter 2: The Runaway Bride Falls into His Arms
Soon, the driver caught up outside the car and anxiously said, "Miss White, please come back with me. We're running out of time!"
At this moment, the driver saw the man and was stunned, subconsciously saying, "Mr. ..."
Before he could finish, John Lewis shot him a cold look and said icily, "Get lost!"
The driver stood frozen as John sped away in the car.
Inside the car, Aurora was desperately tugging at her pure white wedding dress, gasping for breath in discomfort.
She felt like she was floating on clouds and walking through a desert at the same time. She was very thirsty, feeling like she was about to die of thirst.
"Hot, thirsty, water, I need water."
"I'll take you to the hospital," John instantly recognized Aurora's condition.
"Help me! I'll do anything." Aurora grasped John's hand, looking at him with pleading eyes.
"Hold on a bit longer," John frowned coldly. He usually didn't meddle in other people's business. If it were any other time, he would have thrown her out of the car. But seeing Aurora in such distress, for some reason, he felt a pang of compassion.
The effects of the drug gradually took hold, and Aurora became increasingly uncomfortable. Desire surged like a tidal wave. She cried out to John again, "I'm in pain, help me."
John looked at her, seeing her flushed face and seductive eyes, as enchanting as a fairy. His body stiffened, and reason told him not to take advantage of her, but he seemed unable to resist her allure.
"Please help me," Aurora crawled over, her small hands wandering all over him.
The car soon stopped by the roadside. Aurora climbed onto John's lap, her tender breasts rubbing against his arm.
John took a sharp breath, while Aurora wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing his sexy thin lips. His erect, thick penis pressed against her buttocks, its heat and size making her crave him even more.
Aurora was desperate to be penetrated by him. At this moment, all reason vanished; she only wanted to make love with him!
The tension in John's mind snapped, and they began to kiss passionately. The car's temperature soared as the sound of their wet, passionate kisses filled the air. Aurora tore off her pure white wedding dress, her ample breasts bouncing free, her erect nipples brushing against John's skin.
Unable to bear it any longer, John placed Aurora on the back seat. She slipped off her wedding dress and wrapped her long legs around his strong waist.
Desire filled John's eyes, his voice hoarse, "Remember, I am John Lewis."
Aurora was already too far gone to process his words.
She clung to John's neck, kissing him fervently. Gradually, her consciousness faded, and everything went black.
That night, Aurora had a dream. She dreamt of that wild night years ago.
The next day, it was already noon when Aurora woke up.
The memories of the previous day flooded her mind, and she felt a lump in her throat, almost wanting to cry.
'I slept with a stranger, huh? It seems there's no future with Daniel now,' she thought.
Aurora looked around, noticing that she seemed to be in a hospital room. She was lying on a hospital bed, with a handsome man sleeping at the bedside. The man had deep-set features and a chiseled jawline.
Her gaze shifted to John's muscular arm, his defined muscles exuding strength.
Aurora tried to recall the events of the previous day but couldn't remember clearly.
As Aurora propped herself up on the bed, John suddenly woke up.
"Awake?" John stretched lazily, gazing at Aurora. "You owe me a favor from yesterday. Have you thought about how to repay me?"
"I..." Aurora was at a loss for words. She did start things off yesterday, feeling a bit guilty. "Thank you for yesterday."
"That was my first time. A simple thank you, and you think we're even?" John gave her a hurt look.
"What first time? Did we really do it yesterday? What happened afterward? I can't remember." Aurora blushed, feeling embarrassed.
"I meant it was my first time meddling in someone's business," John said with a playful smile. "Yesterday, at the crucial moment, you passed out, and I brought you to the hospital."
Aurora let out a sigh of relief. 'Thankfully, this man was a good person and actually took me to the hospital instead of continuing with me in that situation,' she thought.
"You look disappointed. If you want, we can continue what we didn't finish yesterday," John teased.
Aurora shyly lowered her head, quickly saying, "No need!"
Then, she added, "Actually, here's what happened yesterday. My stepmother wanted to marry me off to a crippled, disfigured, dying man. I would rather die than marry him. The driver was trying to catch me, and in the urgency, I had no choice but to ask for your help! Thank you so much."
John's mouth twitched.
'Rather die than marry? If she knew that the "crippled, disfigured" young master of the Lewis family was right in front of her...'
John's lips curled into an amused smile. "Yesterday was supposed to be my wedding day. Thanks to you, I couldn't marry my bride. You owe me a bride."
"What? I'm sorry, I didn't know you were getting married yesterday." Aurora felt even more guilty. "I'm really sorry."
"Forget it. You're so beautiful, and judging by your expensive wedding dress, you wouldn't be interested in a poor guy like me." John's eyes dimmed, his tone full of disappointment.
Aurora didn't know his true background, but seeing his disappointment, she felt a bit sad and blurted out, "I will repay you."
John smiled, grabbing Aurora's hand. "Then come back with me now and meet my parents."
"Not now." Aurora awkwardly pulled her hand back. "I have something to take care of. I'll leave you my phone number, and we can contact each other later."
She had to go back to the White family now.
"I'll wait for you to come back," John said, no longer teasing her.
Aurora left a string of numbers and left, unaware that she had written one digit wrong in her haste.
John watched Aurora's departing figure, a strong interest gleaming in his eyes.
He glanced at the hair accessory left on the hospital bed, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Suddenly, his phone rang, and John answered.
"The bride ran away halfway, and you, the groom, were missing all night. Boss, what did you do yesterday?"
"Naturally, I was with the bride!" John's eyes showed a rare tenderness.
John hadn't expected that his runaway bride would end up in his hands.
John's nonchalant words left Todd Bailey on the other end of the line stunned.
"Boss, are you kidding? The bride ran away. How could she be with you? The White family is pretty bold. You were supposed to marry the younger daughter, Emily White, but they sent the unloved elder one, Aurora White. Emily married into the Taylor family."
Anyone with a bit of intelligence could figure out what happened.
Todd continued on the phone, "Boss, Mr. Lewis said to wait for you to handle it when you get back."
"Send someone to the White family to annul the engagement," John paused, then added, "Don't make things difficult for them."
"Boss, the White family played tricks on you, and your bride ended up married to Daniel Taylor. Are you just going to let this go?" Todd was surprised; this wasn't like his boss at all.
"Stop talking nonsense and send someone to the White family."
Todd reminded him over the phone, "Boss, you can't annul or divorce. You've already 'lost' three wives. If you don't successfully marry this time and the Lewis family finds out, all our efforts will be in vain."
John pondered for a few seconds. "This one doesn't need to 'die.'"
"Boss, do you have a new plan?" Todd was puzzled and shocked.
John changed the subject, "Get me a cheaper car."
"Boss, what are you planning to do?"
"I'm going to pursue my wife."
...
Aurora had just reached the White family's doorstep when she saw Dean White and Nicole respectfully seeing off a middle-aged man.
This man was sent by the Lewis family to annul the engagement.
The Lewis family had initially wanted to marry a daughter from the White family, but now they had come to annul the engagement. The bride had gone missing, yet the Lewis family hadn't made things difficult for them. Dean was very puzzled.
After the man got into his car and left, Dean wiped the sweat from his forehead and shouted sternly at Aurora, "Aurora, you still have the nerve to come back? How dare you run away from the wedding! If the Lewis family hadn't shown mercy, we would be bankrupt by now."
Aurora stared coldly at Dean, questioning him, "Dad, did you know about Nicole's deliberate scheme against me?"
She had come back home only to confirm one thing: whether her biological father had conspired with her stepmother against her!
