Chapter 4: She and Daniel Ended It
"Daniel, Daniel," Aurora shouted as she chased after him.
'Didn't the Taylor family say Daniel went out with Emily? Why's he here? Did they lie to me?' she thought.
Aurora finally stopped Daniel at the restaurant entrance and urgently explained yesterday's events, "Daniel, this is all a scheme by Nicole and Emily. Come with me to explain to your parents and switch the bride back."
Daniel looked at Aurora expressionlessly, "It's too late."
Aurora was stunned, "What do you mean? Daniel, what's wrong with you?"
Daniel glanced around as if confirming something, then pulled Aurora to a secluded spot.
"Aurora," Daniel hugged Aurora tightly, avoiding her previous question, "I heard you were married off to the Lewis family. I was worried all night. Are you okay?"
"Daniel, I didn't..." She was about to explain when Daniel interrupted, "It's good that you're okay. Aurora, I'm sorry for what you went through. Once I inherit the Taylor family and take full control, I will definitely marry you."
"Daniel, what do you mean?" Aurora was a bit confused.
"Aurora, by the time I realized the bride wasn't you, it was too late," Daniel said guiltily. "Emily agreed to help me secure the heir position. Don't worry, as soon as I control the Taylor family, I'll divorce Emily and marry you."
In that moment, Aurora felt the man in front of her was a complete stranger.
She wasn't a fool. Daniel was just an illegitimate child of the Taylor family and had no right to compete for the heir position.
Emily actually had agreed to help Daniel seize power.
Aurora didn't want to think about why Daniel was so sure Emily could help him. She looked at Daniel's face, feeling deeply hurt.
"Are you abandoning me for the heir position?"
"Aurora, how is it abandoning you? I'm planning for our future. I want to give you the best. You need to know, I've always loved you, but you can't help me. Emily can." Daniel gripped Aurora's shoulders, "Give me a year, no, half a year, and I'll marry you."
Aurora was heartbroken. This was the man she had loved for a year, willing to abandon her for power and status.
Aurora pushed Daniel's hands away, her expression and tone cold, "No need, Daniel. I must have been blind. I've been so wrong about you all this time."
"Aurora..." Daniel tried to coax her again but saw Emily approaching. He quickly distanced himself from Aurora, his attitude changing drastically, "Aurora, Emily and I are already married. How shameless are you to seduce your own sister's man?"
Aurora was stunned and then saw Emily, understanding everything.
Aurora laughed, her tone mocking.
She had such poor judgment, to have fallen in love with such a man!
"Daniel, there you are," Emily strutted over, naturally and intimately linking arms with Daniel, subtly provoking Aurora. "Oh, Aurora, you're here too. Why did you drink so much?"
Aurora looked at Daniel with pain and mocked, "Brother-in-law, I wish you get everything you want."
Aurora's gaze felt like a slap to Daniel's face, burning hot.
"Enough, Aurora, how long are you going to make a scene?" Daniel lost his patience and yelled, "I'm lucky I didn't marry you, or I'd regret it to death. Look at you, drunk and disorderly. Remember, I'm now Emily's husband. Stop being so cheap."
With that, Daniel turned and left.
Aurora watched Daniel's departing back, her eyes stinging, a tear unwillingly falling.
This tear was a farewell to the past year with Daniel.
From now on, she would never shed another tear for him.
Emily looked at Aurora's pale face and laughed, "Competing with me for a man, Aurora? Do you even deserve it? You're only fit to be with that crippled, ugly, short-lived man!"
"Emily," Aurora gritted her teeth, "Your mom was a mistress, and so are you. Daniel is an illegitimate child. An illegitimate daughter and an illegitimate son, you two really are a perfect match."
Emily's face turned livid with rage, "Aurora, say that again! Your mom was the mistress. Dad loved my mom first. Your mom was the one who intervened. You and your mom are both bitches, and you're even more shameless, trying to steal my man!"
Emily angrily started to hit Aurora.
Aurora was fed up with everything. She had suffered years of mistreatment in the White family and was now being framed by them. Her anger couldn't be contained anymore.
Aurora rolled up her sleeves and fought back, grabbing Emily's hair and slapping her face hard several times.
Aurora didn't know that this scene was witnessed by a man in a nearby car.
John watched Aurora fiercely beating Emily, a rare smile appearing on his lips.
'My new wife is quite fierce,' he thought.
Aurora fought to her heart's content. Fighting was her forte, and the delicate Emily was no match for her.
Aurora, exhausted from the fight, stood up from Emily, looking down at her and sneering, "I don't think Daniel cares about you, Emily. Can you really hold onto something gained through schemes?"
Emily, with a bruised face and messy hair, looked utterly disheveled, her clothes torn, and in a sorry state.
Aurora, on the other hand, was calm and composed, not even a hair out of place.
Emily was furious, screaming, "Aurora, you lunatic, this isn't over!"
"I'll be waiting," Aurora said, adjusting her clothes and standing tall.
With alcohol clouding her mind, Aurora stumbled away. She usually took the subway or bus, but today she decided to splurge and take a cab.
Aurora, her head spinning, sat on the ground waiting for a cab.
Soon, a car pulled up beside her.
Aurora, already drunk, didn't look closely, thinking it was a cab. She opened the door and got in, "Sir, Rose Garden Estate, please."
With that, Aurora lay down on the seat, drunk and unconscious.
John glanced at Aurora in the back seat, a rare tenderness in his deep eyes.
'She's so drunk. Does she even know she got in my car?' John thought.
