Chapter 5 Pay A Heavy Price

The Hall family was the leading family among the four major families in Sunset City.

Today was a day worth celebrating for the Hall family. First, the Hall family's Dragon Soar Group signed an agreement with the Legion Group, becoming the closest partners, which means the Hall family's influence will grow even stronger.

Second, it was the 80th birthday of the Hall family's patriarch, Kevin.

Outside the Hall family villa, luxury cars gathered, and the elites of Sunset City appeared one after another to celebrate Kevin's 80th birthday and congratulate the Hall family on becoming permanent partners with the Legion Group.

The Garcia Family, the Wilson family, and the Johnson Family all sent expensive gifts and best wishes.

At the entrance of the Hall family, a waiter with a microphone continuously announced the gifts brought by the guests.

In the villa's hall, Kevin, dressed in a suit, looked spirited despite being 80 years old. Hearing the gifts from the guests, he smiled happily.

There were  people from various prominent families in Sunset City.

Even members of the lesser-known Lewis Family came. To curry favor with the Hall family, Victor put in a lot of effort and bought an expensive necklace for Kevin.

People from various families took this opportunity to expand their connections.

Outside the Hall family villa, a man in a brown coat with a mask on his face walked in carrying a coffin.

The coffin weighed at least 200 pounds, but the man lifted it with one hand, seemingly effortlessly.

It was Larry, who was well-known and feared by everyone in Southwild.

He returned this time for two reasons: to repay Chloe and to seek revenge.

Since he had married Chloe, he didn't want to bring trouble to her, so he wore a black mask, transforming into the Ghost-faced Asura.

Arriving at the Hall family's gate, he suddenly exerted force, and the coffin flew out, smashing through the gate and landing in the villa's hall.

The sudden scene frightened everyone present.

The noisy banquet suddenly became quiet.

What was going on?

Today was Kevin's 80th birthday. Who was so bold to send him a coffin?

Kevin was chatting with the heads of several families.

Seeing the coffin, his face darkened, and he shouted, "What's going on? Where are the security guards?! Who sent it in? Get it out of here!"

"Kevin, this coffin is a gift for you. Today is your 80th birthday. This time next year will be your death anniversary."

A shout came from outside the door, followed by a man in a brown coat with a ghost mask on his face walking in.

"Who are you?" Kevin stared at Larry. He was the head of the Hall family, one of the top figures in Sunset City. No one dared to act recklessly here.

"The one who will take your life."

Larry's cold voice echoed in the hall. Wearing a black ghost mask, he walked step by step toward Kevin.

"Don't be so smug." A man in his twenties walked over, pointed at Larry, and cursed, "I don’t care who you are. In the Hall family’s territory, you will bow to me."

He was Charles Hall. Charles pointed at Larry's nose and cursed, trying to take off his black ghost mask, saying coldly, "Let's see who you really are."

Larry suddenly made a move, grabbing Charles's hand, exerting a little force, lifting Charles up, and spinning him forcefully.

Charles let out a scream.

The elites of Sunset City attending the banquet were all stunned. They lived in peaceful times and had never seen such a bloody scene. Many people stepped back, fearing they would be implicated.

Larry was like a god of death. His aura was strong, and with his forceful move, the people of the Hall family were all trembling and retreating.

Kevin also stepped back, reaching for his lower back, preparing to draw a weapon to kill the enemy in front of him.

Larry walked step by step toward Kevin.

In the villa hall with dozens of people, the only sound was Charles’s agonized cries.

After a few screams, he fainted from the pain, and the hall became silent.

"Kneel down."

Larry's shout echoed.

His aura was very strong. This was the killing intent formed from years on the battlefield, slaying countless enemies. Under the pressure of this killing intent, the elites of Sunset City and the people of the Hall family were all trembling with fear. With Charles's arm being instantly broken, no one dared to stand up and say a word.

The command to kneel down made Kevin's heart tremble with fear and unease.

At this moment, he forgot to resist and uncontrollably knelt on the ground.

Seeing this, the elites of Sunset City were stunned.

This was Kevin, the head of the Hall family, the leading family among the four major families in Sunset City, now kneeling on the ground.

In Larry’s hand appeared a wire, strange and segmented, composed of countless silver needles joined together.

"Kevin, do you know your sins?"

At this moment, Kevin finally reacted, cold sweat breaking out on his back. He thought, 'What is going on? Why did I kneel?'

He tried to stand up but found his legs weak and unable to rise.

"Do you know who you're talking to?" Though he couldn't stand, he still acted tough, reaching for his lower back, ready to kill the enemy in front of him at any moment.

The other Hall family members didn't dare to step forward, fearing they would be implicated.

"Let me tell you why you must die. Ten years ago, by the lake at Flower Residence, a fire burned for a day and a night, claiming thirty-eight lives. You should pay a heavy price."

Larry's cold, merciless voice echoed through the villa hall.

In a flash, Larry appeared behind Kevin, took the wire made of silver needles, and looped it around his neck, applying slight pressure.

The elites of Sunset City screamed in terror, all dropping to the ground, trembling. The Hall family members were equally horrified seeing Kevin's death.

Larry took out a black bag, placed Kevin's head inside, and turned to leave.

He had already left, but the Hall family villa was deathly silent. Everyone was crouched on the ground, hands over their heads, while Kevin's headless body lay quietly in the hall.

At the Bennett family cemetery, in front of Richard Bennett's grave, Larry placed the black bag down and leaned it against the tombstone.

He took out a bottle of wine, took a hard swig, and then poured it onto the ground in front of the grave.

"Grandpa, rest in peace. I will make sure the Bennett family's souls find peace, and I will find a way to reclaim the Artwork of Moonlit."

With that, he stood up and walked away.

After returning to the Imperial Residence, he took a shower.

At the Hall family villa, the elites of Sunset City who came to congratulate had all left.

In the villa hall, a coffin was placed, and Kevin's body lay quietly on the ground.

Charles, whose arm had been broken, had already been sent to the hospital.

The Hall family members were all kneeling in front of Kevin's body.

Leading them was a sexy and beautiful woman in a dress, Kevin's youngest daughter, Roxanne.

She was the one who made the Bennett family restless and destroyed.

She was calm.

"Did you call Frederick Hall?"

Roxanne's angry voice echoed in the silent hall.

"Yes, we did."

"Don't touch anything here until Frederick returns."

Late at night, in the Sunset City military district, several helicopters landed, with the words "Western Territory" painted on them.

A middle-aged man in a military uniform, with a cold expression, got off the helicopter.

Outside, a row of fully armed soldiers stood at attention and saluted instantly.

Then, several military vehicles arrived. The middle-aged man got into one of the cars, which headed straightly to the Hall family villa.

The middle-aged man who rushed back saw the situation at the Hall family villa and the headless Kevin lying in the hall. He immediately took off his hat and knelt on the ground.

"Dad, I'm late. I swear, no matter who it is, I will not let them go."

A roar filled with boundless anger echoed.

"Frederick." Roxanne approached.

The man in front of her was Kevin's fourth son, Frederick.

Frederick's face was expressionless, his demeanor somber. "I need the surveillance footage from the banquet."

"Okay, I'll get it right away." Roxanne nodded and immediately ordered someone to retrieve the footage.

Frederick stood up, examined Kevin's wounds, and then watched the footage, seeing the entire process of Larry killing Kevin.

His face turned cold, and he asked, "What did he say before killing Dad?"

Roxanne replied, "Ten years ago, by the lake at Flower Residence, a fire burned for a day and a night, claiming thirty-eight lives. You should pay a heavy price."

Hearing this, Frederick clenched his fists, his face darkening. "A remnant member of the Bennett family?"

"Probably."

Frederick covered his face, waved at Roxanne, and said, "Let dad rest in peace. Keep the funeral simple. I'll go to Capital City tonight to inquire with our contacts about any surviving members of the Bennett family."
