Chapter 5 Karen's Visit

"Now that you know I've cut ties with the Miller family, please don't disturb my life anymore, Phyllis." Elsa coldly hung up the phone.

When Elsa returned home the afternoon of the next day, Karen was blocking the doorway, as expected.

"Elsa, what do you want?" she frowned, asking directly, no longer maintaining her public gentle demeanor in front of Karen.

"You know I just want to take back what rightfully belongs to me." Elsa glanced at Karen indifferently. "Move aside. A considerate person should avoid causing inconvenience to others."

"What belongs to you? You've already severed ties with your father. What else belongs to you in the Miller family?" Karen's tone was harsh. "I warn you. Don't entangle with Luke anymore; he is now my fiancé."

"Your fiancé? How ridiculous! The marriage contract written by Rhys himself is still in my hand. How did Luke become your fiancé?"

In reality, Luke's cold and calm personality was not Elsa's type. She preferred the sunny and warm type. But all of this was not important. Her primary concern was that Phyllis and her daughter Karen were unhappy, which brought her a sense of satisfaction.

"Elsa, for over a decade, the Miller family has only had me as the eldest daughter. If you don't want trouble, leave Maplewood City early. I can give you some money for your short-lived brother's medical treatment. If not, don’t blame me for being ruthless."

Karen was very angry, and she started to curse.

Elsa raised her hand and slapped Karen.

The mention of her "short-lived brother" was like a dagger, making her angry.

"If you dare speak a single bad word about Vincent again, I'll make sure you die right now." She grabbed Karen's collar and pushed her hard. "Get lost!"

She drove Karen away before entering the house.

‘It is not safe to stay here. Phyllis and Karen would never stop causing trouble,’ she thought as she turned on her computer.

"Phyllis, Elsa is still studying abroad, and Vincent is in poor health. If you have any issues, come to me; don't trouble my two children." In an inconspicuous folder deep in the computer were recordings of conversations between Elsa’s mother and Phyllis.

Each time Phyllis uttered the chilling words, “What if I want you to die?” in her demon-like voice, Elsa would immediately be consumed by rage, no matter how many times she had heard it before.

“As long as you can spare my child, I can do anything.” Elsa’s mother sounded fatigued and heartbroken.

"My mother will take good care of Vincent as long as you keep your promise." It was Karen's voice.

Then, there was a lot of noise, and the call was disconnected.

Elsa clenched her fists.

Her father, David Miller, and mother, Leslie Green, were originally married, starting a small business together from scratch. But after their business flourished, David had an affair with Phyllis.

Phyllis brought her daughter, who was one year younger than Elsa and went to the house to cause trouble. At that time, Leslie was already pregnant with Vincent. She was a woman with high esteem, so she took Elsa and left the Miller family.

David was heartless, and after Vincent was born, he never even went to look at them. Due to prolonged depression during pregnancy, Vincent was born with congenital heart disease. They had spent a lot of money on treatment, but there was no improvement.

Elsa hadn't seen her father again since she was five years old, while Karen, Phyllis's daughter, became the "only" daughter of the Miller family.

Even though Elsa had become the top degree holder in the city at the time, no one associated her with the Miller family.

"I will make everyone pay for this," Elsa said through her gritted teeth.

After her mother's death, she dropped out of school and returned to the country, cutting off all ties with David. She had been waiting for an opportunity to get revenge on them all. Now, there finally came a chance.

Over the recent months, Elsa had been toiling away at Chloe's club, selling beverages and getting commissions that were up to tens of thousands a month. However, the cost of Vincent's medical care was a gaping hole, rapidly depleting her funds and leaving her unable to accumulate any savings.

She felt exhausted as if her bones were about to fall apart, but she still forced herself to go to the club at night.

"Elsa, you're here. William White just asked you to introduce the beverages," the supervisor Amy said as Elsa entered, handing her the uniform and the order-taking iPad.

"Can't someone else do it?" Elsa subconsciously refused.

William was a notorious playboy who had tried to flirt with Elsa several times, but she had cleverly avoided him each time.

"William said if you don't go, he'll smash the store today. He can do that." Amy then whispered to Elsa, "Just for Chloe's sake, Elsa, you should go and see."

Elsa was Chloe's friend, and it was an open secret in the club.

"Alright, I'll go." Elsa had no choice.

It didn't matter to her. She wasn't even afraid of death. A playboy would not be worse than death, would it?

She took a deep breath, went to the changing room to put on her uniform, and knocked on the door of William's private room with the beverage menu.
