Chapter 4 Future Nine-Star Powerhouses

"I'm Sienna!" The woman in pajamas gritted her teeth, speaking somewhat fiercely.

William, looking at this beautiful and sexy woman, felt a bit puzzled. If this woman really went by that name, then William knew her. Of course, she didn't know William.

The woman who called Sienna had a resounding nickname in the post-apocalyptic world, Slaughter Rose! A Nine-Star Powerhouse known almost worldwide! Since Slaughter Rose Sienna and William both hailed from the same city, he had paid special attention to her, knowing a lot about her glorious achievements, whom William had to look up to.

Even ten years later, a Nine-Star Powerhouse remained an unattainable existence, still part of the most powerful minority! Although William's strength as a Six-Star before his rebirth was decent, he was negligible compared to her.

Who would have thought that after his rebirth, he would encounter Slaughter Rose, who had not yet become powerful?

However, William quickly came to his senses. This future Nine-Star Powerhouse had somehow produced a fruit knife and was now pointing it at William, wearing a deliberately fierce expression on her pretty face, indicating that don't come any closer, or she'll stab you!

William chuckled inwardly, wondering if his thoughts had been exposed. It's said that women were very sensitive in that regard.

William said softly, "Don't worry, I won't harm you. Are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?"

Having experienced ten years of the apocalypse, William had grown accustomed to thinking in terms of self-interest. His earlier impulse was merely an alternative desire for power, something he truly needed to establish a good relationship with Sienna.

William had three choices before him. Firstly, to kill Sienna. While this option seemed straightforward and could even provide a twisted pleasure of conquering and enjoying the future Nine-Star Powerhouse before killed her, it clearly held no real benefit for William. It had no connection to his own interests apart from eliminating a top-tier powerhouse and satisfying some primal male urge.

Secondly, to drive Sienna away. This approach would allow William to dominate this apocalyptic Roulette. Since this Roulette appeared in Sienna's home, she likely used it as a starting point on her path to becoming a top-tier powerhouse. By seizing control, William might essentially retrace the steps Sienna had taken, potentially becoming a Nine-Star Powerhouse like her.

However, even without this Roulette, with his past life's experience and memories, dominating the Roulette wasn't crucial for him. Instead, it could lead to the disappearance of a Nine-Star Powerhouse. Striping Sienna of her Nine-Star qualification would not benefit William in any way.

Moreover, given the current situation, despite Sienna holding a knife, William had twenty ways to subdue her. In that case, dominating the Roulette or dealing with Sienna directly made no difference.

The third option was to establish a good relationship with Sienna. This way, he might have a somewhat friendly ally in the future apocalypse, someone who could bring significant benefits in critical moments.

Sienna was highly likely to become a Nine-Star Powerhouse in the future. Therefore, William chose the third option.

However, whether in peacetime or in the apocalypse, building a good relationship with her was not his forte. After pondering for a while, all he could come up with was, 'Would you like something to eat?' Even as he said it, his expression seemed stiff.

Sienna looked at the man, sharp-eyed but somewhat unnatural, suddenly bursting into laughter, lowering the fruit knife slowly and saying, "No need. Just tell me what happened."

William turned slightly, his gaze sweeping over Sienna, who was smiling at him but tightly gripping the fruit knife. He thought that she truly deserved the title of Slaughter Rose, a Nine-Star Powerhouse, as her current demeanor surpassed that of most women.

"This is the Apocalypse Roulette, a machine that can be powered by Magic Crystals to obtain valuable items through a lottery," he explained.

Deciding to establish a good relationship with her, even if they couldn't become friends, they couldn't become enemies either. William had no intention of hiding much.

Having a powerful friend in the early days of the apocalypse would be immensely helpful.

"As for outside," William walked back to the hall, drawing out the mountain-splitting straight knife, and he approached the open door, listening to the screams and cries already echoing in the neighborhood. He calmly stated. "It's the apocalypse."

Sienna's face stiffened for a moment, then a hint of relief unexpectedly appeared. This was not a normal reaction upon hearing about the apocalypse, but William didn't notice. Although William remained wary of Sienna behind him, his gaze was fixed elsewhere.

William's gaze landed not far from the door on the three security guards who had been chasing him earlier.

All three individuals seemed to be unlucky, undergoing a sudden mutation.

The transformation from human to zombie was horrifying.

Their once soft and warm skin turned ashen and dry, eventually becoming gray-black, covered with worm-like black veins. Their eyes turned bloodshot, sharp fangs protruded from their mouths, oozing black, foul-smelling saliva. Black, sharp nails sprouted from their hands, and their hair fell out sparsely. And they lost speech and emotion, becoming creatures driven solely by a desire for flesh and blood.

For a normal person who had never seen a zombie in reality, witnessing such monsters crawling out of the grave for the first time would cause most individuals to freeze in fear, unable to think. Consequently, at least hundreds of millions of normal humans became meals for the zombies in the following days. With each part of the zombies' bodies carrying a deadly virus, a scratch or bite from them would lead to infection, turning the victims into their kind, exponentially increasing the number of zombies.

It could be said that the largest loss to humanity after the apocalypse's arrival was the initial zombie mutations. The casualties caused by subsequent animal mutations and the emergence of monsters paled in comparison to the zombie.

Sienna cooed, "Zombies?"

Thanks to the widespread popularity of zombie movies, anyone who had seen such films could identify these creatures, including Sienna.

Perhaps in a few years, she would be a Nine-Star Powerhouse, having killed countless individuals and even hunted high-level monsters, venturing into dangerous territories. But for now, she was just a woman in pajamas, slightly calmer than the average woman. Seeing these terrifying monsters, Sienna involuntarily took two steps back, her face turning pale.

"Yes, zombies."

William squinted, repeating the word. But his demeanor wasn't one of fear but one of excitement.

It was because he noticed gray crystals appearing on the foreheads of these zombies.

First-Level Magic Crystals!

Without much thought, William charged forward. Although his current body couldn't compare to the Six-Star warrior he was before his rebirth, the skills stored in his mind were sufficient to deal with a few newly mutated zombies.

William swiftly approached the three security guard zombies. Just as their crimson eyes focused on him, he tightened his grip on the handle of the mountain-splitting knife with one hand and pushed the back of the knife with the other, striking straight into the neck of the foremost zombie. The sharp blade sliced through the zombie's fragile neck, cutting through to its vertebrae. Simultaneously, he dodged narrowly as another zombie's claw swiped at him, sidestepping to the side, grabbing the decapitated zombie's head and twisting it back, snapping its neck, leaving the head attached to the body by just a thin layer of skin.

As the zombie's neck had been cut open, black blood gushed out, but William had already moved aside, bending down and lowering his shoulder, knocking the zombie that had come close to him away. With a flick of his wrist, the blade plunged into the softest part under the jaw of another zombie, instantly killing it.

The remaining security guard zombie staggered back a few steps, untouched by William, but his aggression was aroused. Growling in a non-human voice, it was about to charge again, only to be met with a flash of blades. William had already drawn his knife instinctively, half-turning his body, using the momentum to strike fiercely into the eyes and nose of the zombie. The half of its skull was brutally torn open, and a mixture of white and red spilled out immediately.

With a thud, the first zombie's body hit the ground.

In about four seconds, William efficiently dealt with the three zombies.

Sienna, still inside the room, watched in astonishment. The next moment, she covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom.

For someone who had never experienced such a scene, reacting like her witnessing such a bloody battle was normal.

William sighed inwardly, somewhat dissatisfied with his recent actions.

If it had been his previous life, under the same circumstances, even without using his abilities, he could have resolved the fight in two seconds. Now, it took him four seconds, indicating his current body was somewhat weaker.

William habitually scanned the surrounding environment, finding no danger. He then proceeded to extract the Magic Crystals from the center of the foreheads of the three completely deceased zombies, wiping them clean with the security guard uniforms.

Touching these items once again, William felt a surge of excitement. In his previous life, he had hidden for quite some time and taken even longer to adapt to the post-apocalyptic life. By the time he encountered these gray First-Level Magic Crystals, it was several months after the apocalypse had begun. This caused him to miss the peak period of First-Level Magic Crystal harvest. Because by then, most of the zombies had already evolved, it wasn't easy to find isolated ordinary zombies. Moreover, the places zombies gathered were not accessible for ordinary people to hunt in. Therefore, obtaining a First-Level Magic Crystal entirely depended on luck. As a result, he hadn't rapidly grown stronger, mainly due to missing out on the opportunity to collect these crystals.

Placing the three First-Level Magic Crystals in his pocket, he paid no mind to Sienna, who might still be vomiting in the bathroom, and swiftly headed toward the direction where the screams were coming from.

Because where there were zombies, there were Magic Crystals.
