Chapter 3: Billionaire
Yesterday Pancay indeed received the repair fee from Hekka. He didn't believe that Skyview inherited five billion, so this time, he decided to tease him.
As soon as these words were spoken, the audience was not surprised; instead, there were mocking laughs one after another.
After so many years of being classmates, everyone knew each other well. So, no one would believe this.
"Skyview, a so-called billionaire, is nothing more than a hundred-dollar millionaire." Someone laughed.
"I've always wanted to keep a low profile, but it seems like you've all found out. Fine, I'll show my identity. Yes, I am a billionaire!" Skyview shrugged with a laugh.
With these words, the people below laughed along with Skyview, but mostly in mockery.
"Skyview, we've all heard about you and Alice. Honestly, we all feel sorry for you, but please don't end up with a mental illness!"
"We've been classmates for so long, do you really think you're a billionaire? Stop fooling around, shut up."
"Skyview, don't blame me for being straightforward. Alice is so beautiful, with your poor social status, you really don't deserve her."
Everyone chimed in. While they were mocking Skyview, Pancay had a smug smile on his face, while Alice looked calm, her gaze toward Skyview clearly showing disdain and disgust.
When the sarcastic voices subsided, Skyview chuckled self-deprecatingly and fell silent.
Talking about being a billionaire with a group whose monthly income is only tens of thousands, they simply couldn't understand the concept of billions, so naturally, they won't believe it.
Meanwhile, Skyview wouldn't force them to believe either.
Just then, Pancay stood up, pointed directly at Skyview, and smirked, "Skyview, since you're a billionaire now, spending a few tens of thousands to treat us to a meal shouldn't be a big deal, right?"
"Yeah! Skyview, now that you're a billionaire, it's only fair for you to treat us to this meal, isn't it?" Everyone chimed in.
A meal at a five-star hotel would cost at least a hundred thousand, and even after splitting the cost, it would still amount to thousands.
If some fool was willing to foot the bill voluntarily, that would be even better.
"Why didn't you tell me early? I just wanted you guys enjoy the best food of the hotel," Skyview said with a smile. He snapped his fingers, and a waiter approached.
"Prepare your best seafood and wine for everyone," Skyview ordered.
"Of course!" The waiter replied and promptly left.
As the laughter in the hall subsided, everyone looked at Skyview as if he were a fool.
Clearly, Skyview was the one paying the bill, but there was no gratitude on their faces, only mockery and sarcasm.
After ten minutes, the dishes were slowly brought to the table.
"Let me tell you, these lobsters and king crabs are quite valuable. Along with these signature dishes, this meal costs at least thirty thousand! Even with my family's wealth, we only eat like this once or twice a month."
Pancay said this with a smirk, his face showing a sense of pride.
Everyone looked at Pancay with envy. A meal costing thirty thousand, even if they earned tens of thousands a month, they couldn't afford such a feast.
Alice took a bite of crab meat and sneered, "I've been with Skyview for so long, I know what kind of person he is."
"I'm sure. To show off in front of classmates, he not only spent all his savings but also borrowed a lot of money."
Everyone nodded in agreement. They all lived in Swallowford City and knew that Skyview had been a delivery man in Swallowford all along. A courier certainly couldn't afford a meal at a five-star hotel.
"Skyview the delivery man, that's who you are!" Pancay taunted, taking a bite of shrimp.
Skyview sat at the next table. Although he didn't catch every word, he got the gist of it.
It seemed that friends who got along well with Pancay weren't kind people.
Skyview smiled faintly. He had indeed come to this class reunion to show off, but he hadn't expected it to end like this.
Just then, a waitress with her hair tied back walked in.
"Excuse me, whose black Porsche is downstairs? I'm sorry, but it's blocking the way," the waitress said respectfully.
As soon as these words were spoken, the room fell silent, and the word 'Porsche' echoed in their ears.
That was a luxury car!
Even Pancay, who came from the wealthiest family in the class, couldn't afford such a good car!
Everyone looked at each other, and finally, all eyes fell on Pancay.
Pancay smiled awkwardly, stood up, and said, "That car shouldn't be mine..."
"It's mine!"
However, before Pancay could finish speaking, Skyview's voice rang out.
"It must be my secretary who didn't park it properly. Could you move it for me?" Skyview said casually, taking out the Porsche key from his pocket and handing it to the waitress.
"Thank you." She smiled.
Skyview casually took out some money from his wallet and handed it to the waitress.
Seeing this scene, the expressions on everyone's faces froze, and their gazes toward Skyview gradually changed.
Especially Pancay, who drove a BMW, which was indeed not cheap. But compared to a Porsche, his car would be worthless!
"Spending a little money, getting the waiter to fake this play, and you all believe it?" Alice's disdainful expression deepened. "We've seen this kind of thing before."
Alice couldn't believe that Skyview would come up with such a show-off wealth status just to retaliate against her.
However, the more deliberately Skyview showed off, the more pitiful Alice found him.
"You're right, it's just a show. Spending a few dollars online to buy a Porsche key, and a few hundred to bribe the waiter, only Skyview could pull it off!" Pancay said, deliberately slamming the BMW key on the table. "A BMW with top-of-the-line configuration may only be worth sixty or seventy thousand, but it's genuine. I'm not like Skyview, always dealing with fake stuff!"
Pancay intentionally mocked Skyview, and everyone understood, so they all looked at Skyview with mocking eyes.
Skyview smiled wryly. It seemed that his identity as a delivery man was already deeply rooted in their minds.
It didn't matter anymore. Soon, most of the people among them would be from two different worlds.
Skyview had almost finished eating. He tapped the table lightly, thinking about how to end this class reunion dinner.
But at that moment, a girl with her hair tied back walked toward Skyview and sat next to him.
She wasn't very pretty, but she had a unique temperament, giving off a cute girl-next-door vibe.
Skyview remembered her. Willow Link was the study committee member from college, a good student in the eyes of the teachers and one of the few who didn't look down on Skyview.
"You don't have to do this." Willow said meaningfully. "How much does this meal cost? I'll transfer my share to you."
"Do you also think that I've spent all my savings and borrowed money just to pretend to be rich in front of Alice and Pancay?" Skyview retorted.
