Chapter 2
Elise
With the task of cooking breakfast well underway, I always made it a habit to cook for my Beta, Gamma and Delta in the process. As they always made it a habit of showing up. So I always made it a habit of cooking for them as well.
“Elise you home?” calls a voice. A familiar male voice that I knew all too well.
“Yes, in here” I shout, finishing up the last bit of cooking just as my Beta and friend enters. “Hey Shaun” I greet with a smile.
“My Alpha” chuckles Shaun, as we had been really good friends since little as his parents were my father’s Beta’s. Unfortunately, neither of them survived during the attack with the Rogue King. As the Rogue King had randomly appeared one day and decided to cause chaos for us, nearly destroying my whole pack.
It was a defeat that hurt us hard as Shaun was then forced into his role as Beta soon after. The same for my Gamma and Delta. Their parents had been injured during the scuffle with the King and while they hadn’t lost their lives like my father’s Beta’s they were gravely injured to a point that they could no longer serve as the current Gamma and Delta, thus passing the roles off to their children. My father too had been injured during the scuffle, except he was waiting for me to pass on the title of Alpha.
“Excited for the trip to Moon Walker?” asks Shaun as he moves to lean against my kitchen counter. His 6’2 frame built like a tank as his tall, fit frame balanced out his muscles nicely. Amber eyes along with chestnut brown hair made him look irresistible to many of the she-wolves.
“As ready as I’ll ever be” I chuckle, moving to sit with my father at the table, gesturing for Shaun to do the same.
“Come on then, sit down while it’s still hot.”
Smiling warmly he moves to join us only for two more people to show up to the party. “And I’m telling you that our mate will be at the mating ball” replies a female voice, the voice belonging to Iris, my Delta as she moves to enter the kitchen.
“And all I’m saying is we can’t be certain until the day of..” remarks a male voice. The voice belongs to Ian, my Gamma. Both are also very good friends of mine and Shaun.
“Good Morning” I giggle, watching as my Gamma and Delta bicker about mates.
“Good Morning my Alpha” smiles Iris. Her 5 '10 frame is a little taller than mine but petite and fit opposed to mine. Her violet eyes and blonde hair framing her face nicely as she stood within the kitchen.
“Good Morning Alpha” smiles Ian. His 6 '2 frame is just as tall and lean like Shaun’s but without the massive muscles. His blonde hair short as his dual color eyes danced in good cheer. Born with one green eye and one blue eye made him a rarity among all the wolves as most were born with either blue, brown or green with the exception of different shades of blue and brown. Very few wolves were born with violet or dual color eyes unless they were mixed with either witch, fae, or dragon.
Both were uncommon among our pack. As we had neither witch, fae or dragon living among us, but that didn’t necessarily mean they weren’t living among other packs, they just weren’t here.
“Hungry?” I smile, gesturing to the table that now held all the yummy food I had just cooked moments ago.
“Yes” beams Ian as he moves to sit next to Shaun. Both of them have been buddies since they were pups.
“Iris?” I question, looking at my Delta who still stood before me.
“Duh, Did you even have to ask?” laughs Iris as she moves to sit down next to me, all of us now sitting at the table as we move to eat.
“Mmm… Oh My GOD, Elise, did you cook all this?” asks Iris around a mouth full of eggs and bacon.
“Yes Iris. I always cook for me and my father” I say with a smile.
“And I keep telling her she doesn’t have too but she keeps on doing it” chuckles Alpha Sebastian to those around the table, taking another bite of his food as he did.
“Nonsense father. You know I don’t mind. Besides the Omega’s here are all so busy doing other things that I refuse to have them fuss over us like children. Especially when I’m very capable of caring for us” I say to my father with a smile.
“Won’t get much cooking done once your Alpha” chides Shaun as he moves to eat some toast.
“Oh I’ll find time, trust me. I’m not helpless yet” I quip only to pause. Remembering my cousin Alex who was temporarily bound to a wheelchair within his pack.
Frowning, I move to look at my father. “Hey dad?” I call to him, my eyes now serious.
“Yes, my child?” answers Sebastian to his daughter.
“How’s Alex? I haven’t heard from him in a while, is everything okay with him? You know since he’s wheelchair bound and all” I ask, always feeling sorry for him. I mean after all it's not like he asked to be bound to a chair.
For if it weren’t for Hunters, my cousin wouldn’t have been hurt. But because of them, he’d shut himself off from those around him. Only interacting with his Beta, Tyler or that of his Gamma and Delta. At the mention of Hunters, Elza growls as we had a few of them living among us here. Thankfully none of them hurt our pack. Yet surprisingly, they became mates to a couple of our wolves here when they were trying to run away from the other Hunters. Now they help us here.
“Alex? Oh my. Well according to Tyler the last time we spoke, Alex’s been avoiding a new pack member who recently joined them” chimes Sebastian as he recalls everything Tyler had told him over the phone one day.
“New pack member?” asks Iris as she looks at my father in question.
“Yes. A Ms. Kaylee Grant. Her pack was recently destroyed by Hunters and was sent to stay with a relative over in Dawnguard.” answers Sebastian.
“Grant? Hey, do you think she’s related to Isaac by chance?” ask Ian, catching the similar names.
“Who knows… I mean I’m sure Isaac would have said something if one of his relatives were in trouble and all” admits Shaun.
“Guess we’ll find out when we get to the ball then” I tell them, before returning my focus back to my father. “What pack did she belong to? The one that was destroyed by the Hunters?”
“From what I’ve been told, she hails from the Whiteclaw pack. She was its future Delta… Now” starts Sebastian as he catches all of their attention.
“Now?” I ask, suddenly curious by this new information.
“A little birdy told me that Kaylee is Alex’s mate” finishes Sebastian, causing me to squeal.
“OMG, that’s great. Did he mark and claim her?” I ask all excitedly now.
“NO… and that’s why he’s avoiding her. Being in a wheelchair makes him feel like less of an Alpha and so refuses to claim his Luna.”
“WHAT?!” we all shout in surprise.
“How can he be so careless?” yells Ian, baffled by his actions.
“Forget carelessness, doesn’t he want to be happy and have his Luna? He’ll push her away if he keeps that up” answers Shaun.
“GUYS!” I yell catching their attention. “My cousin needs time to heal. You’d feel like that too if you couldn’t walk at the moment. Remember, he was injured during a fight with a Hunter. And while it wasn’t anything major, his body still needs time to heal. I’m sure once he does, he’ll claim her. If not, I’ll be there to beat him senseless” I explain, making a mental note to visit my cousin at Dawnguard once finished with mating ball over at the Moon Walker pack.
‘For his sake, he better pull his head out of his ass if he wants to keep his Luna’ warns Elza sternly, not happy with Alex at the moment.
‘Relax Elza.. Alex just needs time. Besides, I have a feeling everything will turn alright in the end. Especially if Kaylee is a Delta and now Luna of his pack. He’ll claim her. We just have to trust in the Moon Goddess’ is all I say to her as we move to finish up with breakfast.
