Chapter 8

Elise

As the dinner round slowly begins I mentally try to get myself to pick a choice as the Servers slowly make their rounds, asking everyone who was present if they would like the chicken, beef or seafood. Biting my lip I finally force myself to settle on the chicken as well just as a Server approaches our table.

“Hello, good evening and what can I get for all of you?” asks the Server with a smile as she moves to stand next to us, her eyes watching us as we move to place our orders. “I’ll have the Beef” replies Shaun with a smile.

“Sure” says the Server as she moves to hand him a plate of the beef, as each Server had a cart that they pushed when they went around to ask the tables on there choice of food. Once his plate is served does the Server move to look at Ian and Iris and then myself. “And for each of you?”

“I’ll do the Seafood” says Ian, a knowing look on his face as he knew how much I hated seafood.

“And I’ll do the Chicken” smiles Iris to the girl in front of us.

Nodding, she moves to place a plate of each down in front of them before turning her gaze over to me, me being the last one to say what it was that I wanted. “I’ll do the Chicken as well” I say to her, not wanting to make her job more difficult then it already was, as Omega’s were always treated way differently then those of a higher rank, even Warriors got better treatment then the Omega’s and it was clear that this pack definitely treated their Omega’s differently then how I treated mine.

Once the food had been served, everyone who was seated at the tables begin to slowly eat. “Not bad, I mean not as good as your food Elise, but not horrible either” whispers Shaun, not wanting to insult the pack here on how they cooked their food.

Smirking around a mouth full of food do I move to reply back to him mentally, ‘Now who’s the food snob’ I say just as I move to swallow the food, my eyes smirking at the truth behind my words as my Beta, Gamma and Delta where always spoiled by my food as were many of those within my pack as I always made sure that everyone enjoyed a home cooked meal at the pack house.

Sticking his tongue out playfully we all move to finish with our meal when suddenly I hear a commotion coming from over at the Alpha’s table, my eyes moving to see the younge girl dressed in blue stand abruptly. Worried that something might be wrong, a part of me wants to go over to her just to make sure everything was okay when I’m suddenly stopped by Elza.

‘NO… You can’t’

‘And why not? Clearly she’s in distress and needs help’ I say back to my wolf, now torn at what to do as the girl moves to look at those at the table her eyes moving to that of her Alpha’s.

‘The twins… they sense her discomfort too. There fighting for control of their wolves to keep from just marching over there as well’ says Elza causing me to shift my focus to where the twins where seated with their party only to indeed see them struggling to stay seated.

Oh Moon, I muse, Oh how I don’t envy having twins for a mate, their doublesided nature both a blessing and a curse for anyone who was blessed to have twins as a mate especially Identical twins at that for once they found their mate, anyone who dared to hurt them would eventually feel their wrath.

Keeping my eyes trained on what was going on around me do I finally see the girl in blue dash from the room as if hell hounds were directly behind her, frowning when I see Beta Brian, Gamma David and Delta Shane each move to follow after her a sense of danger now lurking at the back of my mind as I slowly move back to watch the twins, the twins struggling with wanting to go after her, yet not wanting to look rude and skip out on the banquet.

Yep, I definitely don’t envy that, but I can’t help but feel sad for them, their mate is clearly in distress and the need to go after her that much stronger but knowing they can’t must really hurt them, I think my attention now back on the Alpha’s table where Beta Collin now sat with scowl as he moves to talk with his mate, the other girl who I now realize is Beta Collin’s daughter, Diana still sat at the table with the Alpha’s son, a small knowing smirk gracing her features as if knowing what was about to happen to the girl who just ran from the room.

‘This pack screams nothing but trouble, especially with Beta Collins family’ I eventually say to Elza not liking the vibe I was getting from the Alpha’s table or that of those who sat there, especially the vibe I was getting from Beta Collin and his family.

‘I couldn’t agree with you more. If only there was something we could do to help’ whispers Elza just as dinner comes to an end and desert was now being served as the Omega’s moved to clear off tables before others moved to serve out the desert.

With desert now served everyone within the room attempts to ignore what had just a happened while my thoughts continue to drift between the Alpha of Moon Walker, the girl in blue and the twins, as I sat here wondering how I could offer my serve to the twins while keeping the peace long enough without causing a scene in which I’m sure I would be scolded for once I got home by father, as my father was still reigning Alpha until I managed to find my mate, a rule that the Council seemed to enforce as many packs were taking over as new leaders without so much as claiming a Luna, which ultimately left them without a heir, granted some did find their mates shortly after, but just not in the way the Council wanted.

‘The Council are nothing but old farts, who all seem to know what’s best for the packs except for them, enforcing a stupid rule to all new leaders is rather stupid if you ask me’ mutters Elza, having never really liked the Council but knew we couldn’t risk angering them without them taking away our title as Alpha for if any higher rank wolf ever dared to oppose the Council then the Council had a right to remove them from their position and then appoint a new wolf in it’s place, which meant that if I ever did decide to challenge the Coucil on something that I didn’t like, they could very well take away my position as Alpha and give it to someone that they deemed worthy of the title forcing me to either step down to Beta or in some cases a Rogue depending on how far I had angered them.

‘Yet a Beta isn’t all bad’ murmurs Elza, choosing to be a Beta over a Rogue anytime.

‘Of course you’d say that, because Rogues go crazy without an ancor… without a pack or mate, Rogues become aggressive and lash out whenever they can which is why the Rogue King takes in all the Rogues, to ensure they have a place to go to but now, it’s like the Rogue King has other hidden agenda’s in which doesn’t include the safety of other packs as his band of misfits have all but wiped out one pack among our kind while attempting to kill my father with the help of the Sky Pack’ I say to Elza, remembering everything that I’ve seen or learnt throughout my teachings at Alpha school.

At the mention of the Sky pack, does Elza move to growl again, there pack Alpha, Malik was one Alpha I wanted to stay far away from as possible, but with them being a neighboring pack it was hard when Alpha Sloan refused to leave me and my pack alone.

‘If he EVER, comes near us again, I’ll rip out his throat and feed it to his pack’ growls Elza knowing that if I allowed her too, she would, all I had to do was give her the okay to do it and she would.

‘I know Elza, I know’ I whisper softly, my focus now back on my desert as I try to clear my head for the upcoming task, the task I needed to do before the night was done, and that was find our mate.
