The twins

Five years later.

Balqis Minaj, the popular internet celebrity was still trapped in her past. Her name no longer reigned like before, Balqis still couldn’t get out of the misery. The only reason that kept her going was her family-her mother who never left her, and her children, I mean the twins.

Her passionate night with Trevor Quin got her pregnant which added to her frustrations.

“Macey, Mara, your Mommy is home!"

Hearing her grandmother’s call, Mara's eyes sparkled. Her blue eyes glowed in ecstacy as she removed the book from her lap and slumped from the bed. Laughing, she had a quick battle with her brother.

“Mommy’s home! Mommy’s home!”

Right after Balqis put the plastic groceries down on the table, the twins lunged at each of her leg. Seeing her beautiful children, her heart lept with Joy as she smiled and stroked the toddlers gently.

“Hey Macey, I have told you to stop running at home, It will hurt if you fall.”

Macey smiled as he showed his tiny teeth, Macey shook his head firmly. “I can’t fall, Mommy. My legs are strong.”

“My legs are also strong too, I can run through the house five time faster than Macey" Mara declared as she flipped her long, thick, wavy hair. She looked exactly like a little Balqis. Only their eyes’ colors were different, she had blue eyes, and Balqis’s hair had just been cut to shoulder length.

As for Macey… he was a hundred percent replica of that blue-eyed devil only that he didn't have blue eyes. Even so, Balqis loved them just as much.

“What did you buy for us Mommy?” Macey's Little hands tried to grab the plastic bag she probably placed on the table. “Is that why you’re late?”

Balqis’s joy suddenly faded as she heard this, after her predicament five years ago, she was unable to work anywhere due to her leaked sex tape and for she was once a celebrity.

Diego didn't help her much, he instead blocked her from getting any help from anyone. She was able to manage a sales representative at a company, but as soon as Diego knows about this, she was sacked with immediate effect.

The manager who had to fire Balqis felt sorry. He gave her severance pay from his own savings, and also some gifts.

“Storybooks? Mommy said we have to be frugal. But why did you buy this many, Mommy?” Mara's little voice jolted her out of her dreamy trance.

“Look at this model, Mara! This is the latest release. It must be expensive!” Macey shouted with excitement.

Balqis had to fake a smile. She felt sorry for the twins. Soon, they would turn six and go to kindergarten, but she, their mother just lost her job. She had affected her kids education with her dirty past.

"Alcohol is my worse enemy" she muttered to herself.

She fell on the bed nightly as she got to her bedroom, Balqis sighed as she looked at the numbers on her passbook. There wasn’t much left. The severance pay from the manager was enough to sustain life for one month. But, what about the next month?

‘Should I look for that blue-eyed bastard and demand responsibility? Perhaps he could show some mercy if he see the twins?"

A second later, Balqis blinked and pushed the thought out of her mind.

‘No. That cruel man will not hesitate to kill me. Macey and Mara would be orphaed, he might even kill them'

"A penny for your thoughts?"

Hearing her mother's voice, Balqis hid the passbook and faced her mother like an obediently, "Mum, you're here? I just… calculated this month’s expenses and income, it's safe"

But her smiling face turned pale as she saw a letter from her piece mother’s hand, she failed to hide her anxiety, the older woman understood her predicament she patted her lovingly,

“Don’t worry. This is not a bill,” Madam Monica sat next to Balqis. Her expression was somewhat nervous and tinged with pity. “It’s... It's Diego’s wedding invitation.”

Balqis’s face immediately darkened. That name never failed to rule her heart. Five years ago, shelived him dearly but she was disappointed that he didn't believe her to trusted her.

After braking up with her, he even went as far as to make sure she never got jobs. For this reason, She once tried to hate Diego, but failed within seconds.

She nooded her head slowly, It's foo that he’s getting married, That’s great. It means, he has managed to forget me. He won’t bother our lives. anymore, Mom.”

Susan smiled sadly. Stroking her daughter’s thin shoulder, she whispered, “Balqis, you don’t have to be tough all the time. If you want to cry, cry.”

“I’m not sad, Mom. I’m actually relieved. Now, all that matters to me are the Twins.”

Balqis covered the sadness well behind her steady voice. However, her eyes could not pretend. Her mother was in pain to see her gloom.

“Mommy.” A small voice suddenly came from the door. Mara was standing there. The new storybook she was dragging almost touched the floor. Beside her, Macey was busy working on his new models cube. "Someone is knocking at the door.”

“A guest? At this hour?”

“Yes, mommy we heard a knock on the door.” Macey seconded, the fellow said they came for you"

In an instant, Balqis was engulfed in panic, what if Diego is the one? Maybe he came to taunt her again and flaunt his new bride to her face.

She left the room to the living room, peeking out of the window, Balqis saw a lady of about her age. She was neat and charismatic. Vaguely, Balqis could see her formal attire smelling rich and wealth.

Behind the lasy, two bodyguards stood firmly. They were fully alert, not looking dangerous but still suspicious. Nevertheless, Balqis opened the door with to meet her guest.

“Good evening, Miss Minaj, I’m Miss Carina Carter from immortal Group. Would you mind taking some time to chat?”

Balqis blinked uncertainly. Her hand was reluctant to let go of the door handle. Observing her hesitation, Miss Carina handed her a business card. As soon as she checked it, Balqis gasped.
