Chapter 6 - Bodyguard in an Instant

I

Daffodil suddenly stiffened as she heard Lexus’ words. “Proclaim and mark me? For what?” she exclaimed.

Lexus looked at her with a spark in his eyes. “I will mark you and you will mark me. If that happens, no other wolf will even try to think of having you or having me, because they know that we already belong to each other.”

“Crazy, I belong to no one!” she hissed at him, but he was not even moved at all. His smile never even faded.

“Finding your mate indeed will make you crazy, especially if we have our mate bond already,” he said while his smile was growing wide.

“I don’t want to hear that mate thing anymore. Let me go, I wanted to rest.” Daffodil once again snarled at him.

But he just looked at her seriously this time. “Let me accompany you to your studio unit and let me stay there and be with you until your flight back to your country. You need to be guarded, as I am sure; the other pack already knows that the possible missing golden she-wolf is just around here.”

“Oh goodness, that is not necessary.” Daffodil was now feeling frantic. She remembered suddenly what her Dad and Mom told her. Now she understands.

“Please, I will not harm you; I am here to protect you.” His voice was pleading and the look in his eyes now made her wonder why he could affect her in such a way that she could not resist him.

“Why should I trust you?” she retorted.

Lexus put his hands on her shoulders. “Because I am your mate and my wolf can feel your wolf. She is begging for you to listen to her, to connect with her for years now.”

“I can not understand this anymore,” she whispered.

“Just trust me, Sweetheart. You are not safe in this place; I can smell wolf blood around,” he whispered back.

Suddenly Daffodil felt so foolish that she could not control herself to nod at him in submission.

Lexus accompanied Daffodil in going back to her booked garden studio unit in the resort. In his hand was the bag of his clothes and other things.

He put his right arm around her shoulders protectively as they walked going to Daffodil’s place. She could not remove his arm on her shoulders, for in her mind, she could not offend him at this moment.

When they reached Daffodil’s booked studio room, they hurriedly went inside; they did not notice two blazing eyes looking at them from afar. Those eyes reveal one thing … pure jealousy.

Inside the studio room, Daffodil felt so awkward. This was the first time in her life that a man was with her inside her room. What's more, if they are already sleeping, she is sure that she will not be able to sleep peacefully.

Without her knowing it, Lexus could connect to her mind already. Daffodil’s wolf, at the onset, has already tried to connect with Lexus’ wolf, Aryas. She even introduced herself as Arcel. With that, Lexus could somehow read Daffodil’s mind, which is too open now, without her knowing it.

“Am I the first man to be with you inside a room alone, Daffodil?” he suddenly asked, a smile curving his lips.

“I don’t need to reply to that Lexus. You may take the couch while I take my bed in here.” She replied, frowning.

“No problem, I could even sleep on the floor.”

“You know what, I can’t believe that my supposed holiday would end up like this. Am I having an instant bodyguard now?” she sighed.

He laughed merrily. “I am darn so happy to be your bodyguard Sweetheart.”

“Oh gosh, what am I into? I should just have listened to Mom and Dad and just stayed in Sydney, Australia,” she sighed again.

Lexus heard what she said and he just gave her a happy grin. “Fate brought you here because this is where you are going to meet your future; you just met him a couple of hours ago.”

“I have not seen my future yet nor my fate,” she retorted.

“You just did, Sweetheart, and you cannot deny that to me all throughout,” he said, very confident of himself, and Daffodil somehow admired him for being so brave and firm.

In her place, no man could do whatever Lexus is doing now to her. Men are aloof from her, or she may say afraid of her. It was only Dixon who had the guts to befriend her and get closer to her, maybe because their parents are friends.

And speaking of Dixon, he is calling him now on his mobile phone. Her phone is ringing, with Dixon’s name flashing on its screen.

“Oh, hi Dixon,” she answered happily when she heard Dixon’s hello on the other line.

Suddenly, Lexus' eyes squinted.

“Uhumm, I, I am enjoying Sydney. Yes, I am here.”

Lexus's ears are burning with jealousy, hearing her joyfully speak with a man on the phone. All of a sudden, he heard a low growl nearby, which made him automatically stand up.
