Darkness

The earl’s p.o.v

Everything was perfect, until that damned girl had nearly ruined it all with her ridiculous heart attack.

I stormed through the corridors of the estate, my anger simmering just beneath the surface. Valerie. The name alone was enough to ignite my fury. She had been a troublesome presence ever since she arrived, but this was the last straw. I would not allow her to jeopardize my standing.

As I approached her quarters, my mind raced with thoughts of how I would reprimand her. She would understand the gravity of her actions, and she would pay for her carelessness. I reached her door and rapped sharply, expecting to hear her meek voice inviting me in. But there was nothing. Silence.

I frowned and knocked again, louder this time. Still no response. Irritation flared within me. "Valerie!" I barked, my patience wearing thin. "Open this door at once!"

When there was still no answer, I didn't bother waiting any longer. I pushed the door open and strode inside, ready to unleash my wrath. But the room was empty. The bed was neatly made, the curtains drawn, and her belongings were scattered about as if she had left in a hurry.

A cold, uneasy feeling settled in the pit of my stomach. Where could she have gone? I glanced around the room, my eyes narrowing as I took in the signs of her abrupt departure. I felt more irritated as I stood in the room. I had warned her severally not to dare step out of the quarters at night, and just two days later I come to find out that she had indeed gone out.

I cursed under my breath, a mix of anger and concern gnawing at me I could not let another bride go missing, the village already thought I was some sort of monster and it was gradually starting to affect my estate.

This was not just some impulsive act. i bet she had planned it . But why? And more importantly, where could she possibly think she could hide from me?

I turned on my heel and marched out of the room, my mind racing with questions. I needed to find her, to bring her back and make her understand the consequences of defying me. As I made my way to the study, I summoned my most trusted servant, and maid that watched over her, named Julian.

"Julian," I said, my voice cold and commanding, "Valerie has gone missing. I need you to find her. Search the grounds, question the staff, do whatever it takes. But bring her back to me."

Julian nodded, her expression serious. "Yes, my lord. I'll begin the search immediately."

As she left, I sank into the chair behind my desk, my mind racing. Valerie's disappearance was not just an inconvenience; it was a threat to my carefully constructed image. If word got out that a mere girl had defied me and escaped, it would undermine my authority.

I poured myself a glass of brandy, the amber liquid soothing my frayed nerves. I had to think. Valerie was more than just a troublesome girl; there was something about her.

The thought sent a chill down my spine. If Death was involved, this was far more serious than I had realized. But no matter the reason, Valerie would be found. She would be brought back, and she would answer for her actions.

As I stared into the fire, the flames dancing in the hearth, I made a silent vow. Valerie would not escape her fate. No one defied the Earl and lived to tell the tale. And I would ensure that she learned that lesson well.

Valerie’s p.o.v

Hades took my hand, wrapping his fingers around my neck “I think it’s time you visit your new home"

I looked at him, too drained to fight but my eyes held a lot of begging. Begging me to just let me live my miserable life in peace, begging him to not kill me …

But most of all, to just let me be. "please, i can not die this way" i begged but nothing came out of my mouth, it was as though my mouth had been sealed up.

i tried to move my hands to shove him away but it was the same thing. i barely was able to lift a finger

my mind flashed back to my father

would he miss me?

would he morn my disappearance

was he going to be indifferent about it?

As my eyes felt heavy, I felt the crippling sense of engulf me pulling me away into the dark abyss, preparing me for my doom.

this was it, just like that, i was added as one of the missing brides of the earl. never to be seen again, just like the rest
