Chapter 3 The CEO of Apex Global Enterprises

Henry got up and helped Diana clean her body. He noticed a red stain on the sheet, remembering the intensity of the night, and frowned a bit.

He usually avoided women with fiancés or virgins to keep things simple, but he broke both rules tonight.

By moonlight, he lit a cigarette, watching Diana sleep. She had an innocent face, tipsy round eyes, a graceful figure, and a slender waist. She was his type, so why not break the rules once in a while?

The next morning, Diana woke up sore, weak, and with a headache. Memories of last night hit her, and she realized she had slept with a stranger.

As a doctor, she knew the sensations in her body were real. The torn dress confirmed how wild the night had been, and Henry was already gone.

She saw new clothes, a $200,000 check, and birth control pills on the bedside table. Diana took a quick shower, dressed, took the pill, and pocketed the check without hesitation.

On her way home, she called her boss, Felix Davis, to take the day off.

When she got home, she was shocked by what she saw. Before she could react, a slap landed on her left cheek.

"Nathan, why are you hitting Diana?" Celeste Johnson stepped in to stop him.

Nathan Windsor sneered, "Our family raised you for over twenty years. You agreed to marry Oliver, and now you want to break it off without my consent? How dare you!"

"Nathan, I don't want to marry him anymore," Diana said, meeting his gaze.

"When your parents died, we took you in. Do you think you'd have what you have today without us? Go apologize to Oliver. If he doesn't forgive you, don't come back!" Nathan stormed off.

Diana's face was red and swollen from the slap.

"Diana, Nathan didn't mean it; he's just upset," Celeste said, applying an ice pack to her face.

"Oliver called this morning and said if the engagement is off, he'll withdraw his investment from the company. You know the company has been struggling, and his help is crucial," Celeste explained.

Celeste's words hit Diana hard. Nathan was harsh, but Celeste was always kind.

Unable to resist Celeste's persuasion, Diana agreed to apologize to Oliver.

Diana wanted an amicable breakup, not to give in. She called Oliver, but he didn't answer.

She saw a Facebook post: [Spotted Mr. Smith and Ms. Spencer, a perfect match.]

Location: Golden Horizon Resort.

When Diana found Oliver, he was at a stable, leading a horse for a girl.

The girl, Clara from the Spencer family, was charming and arrogant. She didn't even acknowledge Diana.

Oliver showed a smile that Diana had never seen before.

In the summer heat, the sunlight stung her eyes.

As Oliver saw Diana, he jogged over, looking annoyed. "What are you doing here?"

"I want to talk to you," Diana said.

"Can't you see I'm busy?" he snapped.

"Busy leading a horse for someone else?" Diana retorted sarcastically.

"Whatever it is, we'll talk later. Don't cause trouble here," Oliver said impatiently.

Just then, a man on horseback returned. He was cold and indifferent, dressed in black riding gear. When their eyes met, Diana froze.

Clara hurried over, smiling, "Henry."

He responded coolly.

Diana felt like she'd been struck by lightning.

'He was Henry Spencer, the CEO of Apex Global Enterprises?'

Henry's gaze swept over Diana, proud and aloof. "And who is this?"

"She's a friend of mine," Oliver quickly replied.

One sentence chilled Diana's heart.

To please the Spencer family, Oliver didn't even acknowledge her properly.

"Since she's your friend, let her change clothes and join us," Henry said calmly.

Holding power, Henry couldn't be refused, so Oliver took Diana to change clothes.

Outside the changing room, Diana took off her ring and tried to remove her necklace, as jewelry was prohibited while riding.

But she couldn't find the clasp and grew anxious. She heard footsteps behind her, and suddenly a pair of hands touched the back of her neck.

Diana instinctively wanted to turn around, but someone stopped her, saying, "Don't move."

It was Henry.
