Chapter 5 Mr. Quinn Arrives
They recognized the old man; it was Fabian, the butler for the richest guy in town, Hayden!
Mr. White, who had visited Hayden several times but never met him, always dealt with Fabian instead.
Mr. White quickly stepped forward. "Fabian, what brings you here?"
"Fabian!"
"Hey, Fabian."
The others greeted him eagerly.
Fabian ignored them and walked straight to Fergus, saying respectfully, "Mr. Yost, sorry for the trouble. Let me handle this."
He then glared at Jessica and questioned, "How dare you threaten Mr. Johnson's guest? Are you looking for trouble?"
Jessica was stunned, frozen in fear.
Mr. White and the others were also shocked. Fergus wasn't a fugitive? He was Hayden's guest?
Fabian continued, "Apologize to Mr. Yost now, or you'll regret it for the rest of your life!"
Jessica's face went pale. The Henderson Group had some clout in Tarynville, but they were nothing compared to Hayden. Even Fabian could ruin them.
"I..." Jessica started to speak.
"Forget it!"
Fergus spoke up. He didn't want to humiliate her, and they had a prenuptial agreement, so he decided to give her a break.
He looked at Fabian and asked, "What do you want from me?"
Fabian quickly bent slightly. "Mr. Johnson sincerely invites you to return."
Fergus thought for a moment. Since he couldn't leave today anyway, he decided to go and see. "Let's go," said Fergus.
The two walked out, leaving the restaurant in dead silence.
Inside the Westside Manor, Hayden had already explained everything.
Hayden introduced, "Sophia, this is Fergus. He saved your life, and he's also your fiancé!"
Hayden recalled his father's words: This young man's abilities could ensure the Johnson family's prosperity for hundreds of years. He didn't believe it before, but now, seeing Fergus save his daughter effortlessly, Hayden was convinced Fergus was his son-in-law.
"He is not!"
Sophia said coldly, "Dad, I told you that I wouldn't marry anyone. Don't force me!"
"Don't get excited. I don't want to marry either!"
Fergus was silent, unable to understand why girls always thought they were irresistible.
Fergus asked Hayden, "What do you want from me?"
Hayden was at a loss for words. Sophia was naturally cold, and that was how she spoke. Why was Fergus also so rude and lacking in manners?
Seeing Hayden in a tough spot, Linda smiled and said, "Fergus, you and Sophia have a prenuptial agreement; we are family."
"By the way, why did you come alone? Where are your parents?"
Seeing Linda's kind attitude, Fergus, used to holding grudges, softened his tone. "I have no parents. I was raised by my Master. My Master has been traveling for three years and hasn't returned, so I came alone."
Linda frowned slightly and thought, 'No parents? I thought he came from a prominent family.'
She smiled again, "How have you been these three years? Why didn't you come earlier?"
Fergus, feeling angry, replied honestly, "My Master told me to wait for him in prison."
Linda, Hayden, and even Sophia were stunned.
"Prison?" they thought.
Linda's face quickly turned cold. How could a good person come from prison? And he wanted to marry Sophia? How dare he?
Her attitude shifted. "Sophia, during the year you were sick, Tyler often came to see you. Be nice to him!"
Sophia nodded and said casually, "I'm tired!" She turned and went upstairs.
Linda looked at Hayden and said, "Honey, Ms. Gray from the Gray family is coming to Tarynville to invest. You should prepare to work with them. Go to the study and get ready."
Hayden understood Linda's meaning. She wanted to be the bad guy and drive Fergus away. He also thought Fergus came from a distinguished background, but it turned out he had no parents and had been in prison. He couldn't agree to this, so he got up and left.
Hayden thought, 'As for Daddy's words, he probably is just senile!'
Fergus noticed Linda's change in attitude but was more shocked by the coincidence.
He tentatively asked, "Mrs. Johnson, is Ms. Gray from the Gray family named Violet Gray?"
Linda's face showed only disdain. "Yes, but that's none of your concern. Also, don't call my name; we're not close!"
Fergus frowned. No matter how old a woman is, she can be very fickle.
Smack!
Linda took out a bank card and threw it on the table. "Here's $200,000. Take the money and leave. From now on, you have nothing to do with the Johnson family. Don't tell anyone you had a prenuptial agreement with Sophia, understand?"
'The Johnson family is not something a jerk like you can measure up to!' Linda thought.
Fergus felt a surge of anger but remembered his Master's words: "Don't bother arguing with the clueless."
He calmly said, "I have nothing to do with you. Also, being poor is not your fault, but being unaware of your poverty is. Keep the $200,000; consider it a gift from me!"
Fergus got up and walked out.
After a few steps, a thunderclap sounded, and it started pouring rain outside.
Linda trembled with anger. She thought, 'As the richest lady in Tarynville, how could anyone call her poor?'
She shouted, "I'll give you ten minutes to call a cab. You must be out of my house in ten minutes!"
Fergus didn't bother to respond. He took out his phone and called Xavier to come and pick him up.
Linda, seeing that he could still contact someone, sneered. "Just arrived in Tarynville and already has friends? I guess prison friends? If you don't care about $200,000, your friends must be really impressive!"
Linda thought, 'Having spent three years in prison, he was probably just a thug, and his friends couldn't be much better.'
Just then, Fabian walked in and said, "Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Quinn is here!"
