Chapter 29 The Smith Family Apologizes to William

After a few minutes, Victor slowly lifted his head, gave William the once-over, and asked, "So, you're the guy looking to buy some info?"

William nodded. "Yeah."

Victor leaned back in his chair, all casual-like. "What kinda info you after?"

William said, "I'm looking for stuff from twenty years ago."

As soon as he said that, the four dudes next to Victor got all riled up. "What's that supposed to mean? Are you trying to start something?"

Victor made his living selling all kinds of info, but this was the first time someone asked about something from twenty years back.

Victor waved his hand. "Chill, let him talk."

William said, "Twenty years ago, there was a woman named Eden from Sintros City. I wanna know where she is now."

Hearing this, Victor's face changed, and he asked, "Is she the one who ran off to Starlight City with some big shot's love child from Sintros City?"

William grinned; Victor was definitely in the know.

He said, "Yeah, she came back to Starlight City once. I wanna know where she is now."

To get more details, William pulled out a ring. "This is a ring she used to wear. You might not remember her, but this ring might jog your memory."

When they saw the blinged-out ring, Victor and his crew couldn't take their eyes off it. This ring had to be worth a ton.

Realizing he was drooling, Victor quickly cleared his throat. He took the ring and gave it a good look.

Judging by the fancy stuff in his office, it was clear Victor knew his gems.

Victor even busted out a magnifying glass and some tools to inspect the ring up close. Slowly, a look of excitement and joy spread across his face.

This was one rare gem. It was definitely more valuable and rarer than anything in his collection. No joke, this ring could easily go for over seventy million bucks now.

A greedy glint flashed in Victor's eyes as he immediately desired to keep it, unable to resist saying, "I believe I've seen this ring before..."

William asked excitedly, sensing hope, "Do you know where she is then?"

Victor replied, "I still need to check. It's been twenty years, a long time. Go home and wait for the news."

William nodded. "Alright, as long as you find the info, I'll reward you big time. Now, hand the ring back."

Victor suddenly asked, "What ring?"

William's face changed. "The ring in your hand, give it back."

Victor slipped the ring on his finger and grinned wickedly. "This is my ring. What's it got to do with you?"

Victor's men chimed in, "This is clearly Mr. White's ring. I've seen him wear it for over ten years. How dare you try to scam us?"

Victor attempted to forcibly keep it, prompting William to laugh.

It was no surprise Eugene had warned that Victor was sly and treacherous, possibly even more so than Kyle.

William had seen it for himself, but they messed with the wrong guy.

He said coldly, "I'll give you one chance, hand the ring back, or there'll be hell to pay."

But Victor and his crew just laughed. To them, what did they care about the threat from a young punk?

Determined to keep the ring, Victor sneered, "In Starlight City, who isn't aware of my rules?"

Someone next to him explained, "Listen up, consulting with Mr. White comes with a fee. This ring will cover the consultation fee."

A cold light flashed in William's eyes. "I gave you a chance, but you blew it."

Victor ordered, "Don't be ungrateful. Break his legs and toss him out."

In the hallway, all the guards at the door rushed in.

Over a hundred guys, each holding a weapon, looking fierce and ready to rumble.

But at that moment, a voice echoed through the Sapphire Club. "Aaron and the entire Smith family, all three hundred and sixty-eight of us, are here to apologize to Mr. Davis!"
