Chapter 58 The Biggest Joke

Peeking out into the hallway, it was packed tight with people, like three hundred of 'em. And they were all strapped, looking mean as hell.

Kieran's family? They'd never seen anything like this before. They were shaking like leaves, all huddled up together.

Jessica, who'd been around the block and knew the underground scene, recognized them right away. "The Serpent Gang!"

Victor's face went pale as he recognized the leaders, who were known as Crimson Brothers, among those individuals and called out, "Nathan. Jacob."

Two tall dudes entered the room, exuding a vibe that clearly marked them as Intermediate wizards.

"Victor, finally got you. No lackeys today, huh? Let's see you wiggle outta this one."

Victor always had his crew with him. But today, he was just out with William, so he left them behind.

The Serpent Gang had been tailing Victor, and the moment they spotted him alone for the first time, they pounced.

"Victor, we heard you scored two top-grade Strengthening Body Pills. Hand 'em over, and maybe we'll let you live."

The Crimson Brothers were stuck at Intermediate wizard level. With those pills, they could hit Master of Witchcraft level easy.

They'd been stuck for five years, itching to level up.

When they heard Victor had the pills, they started plotting.

Now, with Victor alone, the Crimson Brothers made their move.

Seeing William eyeing him, Victor scratched his head, looking sheepish. "Mr. Davis, I might've bragged a bit, and now everyone knows."

William shot him a side-eye. "Pathetic."

The Crimson Brothers sneered, "Victor, cough 'em up. Those pills ain't for you."

With William by his side, Victor felt invincible.

Intermediate wizards? Pfft. Even a Master of Witchcraft would be toast.

Victor said, "Yeah, I got the pills, but you ain't living long enough to use 'em."

The Crimson Brothers and the Serpent Gang laughed.

"Victor, stalling for backup? Forget it. We got your crew blocked. No one's coming."

"Hand over the pills, or we take 'em off your corpse."

The Crimson Brothers' aura was crushing, like a boulder on everyone's chest.

Then a voice cut through the tension. "Get out."

Everyone in the Serpent Gang turned to look at William.

They'd been so focused on Victor, they ignored everyone else. They didn't expect this young guy to tell them to scram.

Jessica couldn't help but snap, "What are you doing? They're The Serpent Gang!"

"Even Mr. White wouldn't mess with them. Are you nuts?" She knew the power players in Starlight City.

Sure, William had Victor under his thumb, but The Serpent Gang was a whole different beast.

Jessica was freaking out.

Victor quickly said, "Mr. Davis, please."

The Crimson Brothers looked at Victor like he was crazy. "What? Victor, you're getting more pathetic by the minute."

"Did I hear that right? You called this kid Mr. Davis?"

"That's the funniest thing I've heard all year."

The rest of the Serpent Gang burst out laughing.

William's face darkened with anger at being interrupted during his meal. That really ticked him off.

He said, "Victor, you guys hit the restroom. I'll call you out when it's done."
