Chapter 9 The Ancient Prescription of the Miracle Doctor

As soon as William dropped that bomb, the room went dead quiet.

It took everyone a hot second to process, and then they all stared at William like he had three heads.

William's bragging was getting out of hand.

He actually claimed he could make a finger that had been chopped off for twenty years grow back?

Fiona's pinky was completely gone.

Eugene, the big-shot pharma guy in Starlight City, had seen all kinds of miracle docs and ancient remedies. He'd witnessed some wild stuff in the medical world.

But making a finger that had been gone for twenty years grow back? No way. That was like trying to grow meat on a skeleton.

William was so full of it, he was practically floating. Even Hollywood wouldn't dare to show something this crazy.

Fiona quickly tried to smooth things over. "William's just messing around. Don't take him seriously."

Eugene was not having it. "That kind of joke is way out of line."

William, dead serious, said, "Fiona, I'm not joking. I can really make your finger grow back."

Jasmine and Eugene were fuming.

Fiona was stunned. Why was William being so stubborn?

Jasmine crossed her arms and sneered, "You know medicine? Show me how you're gonna make my mom's finger grow back."

Eugene, even angrier, said, "If your medical skills are so amazing, then prove it right now."

William said, "Hold up."

He dashed back to his room and returned with a small wooden box and an ancient remedy called Regenesis Ointment, a miracle medicine for regenerating bones and flesh, perfect for Fiona's situation.

The small wooden box had the finished product inside.

When William opened it, a black, gooey, nasty-looking substance was revealed. It smelled awful.

Jasmine immediately covered her nose. "What is this? Did you dig it out of the trash?"

Eugene was even more pissed. "This is nonsense!"

Fiona's face changed a bit too.

William looked at Fiona. "Fiona, do you trust me?"

Fiona didn't really believe him, but she didn't want to hurt his pride.

The finger had been gone for over twenty years, so she figured, why not let William give it a shot.

Fiona said, "I trust you. Go ahead."

With Fiona's go-ahead, William started applying the Regenesis Ointment bit by bit to her severed pinky.

Jasmine watched nervously, worried something might go wrong. "Mom, how do you feel?"

Fiona shook her head. "It feels cool, nothing special."

After a while, Eugene asked, "Why hasn't it grown back yet?"

William explained, "The finger's been gone for twenty years, the nerves and tissues are all dead. We need to revive these first, then it'll slowly grow back bit by bit."

"If it takes a long time, it'll grow back in two to three years. If it's quick, about six months."

Eugene shook his head, full of disdain.

Anyone could say stuff like that. Maybe in a few months, William wouldn't even be around anymore. Who would they find to verify it then?

Jasmine was even more sarcastic. "With your skills, shouldn't it work immediately? Shouldn't my mom's finger grow back right away? You're just lying."

Seeing this, Fiona immediately said, "William, I believe you. I'll apply it every day to make it grow back as quickly as possible."

Jasmine was furious. "Mom!"

William handed the wooden box to Fiona. "Okay, go ahead and use this entire box of Regenesis Ointment."

Fiona said, "Don't worry, I'll apply it every day and give it a try."

William then took out the yellowed ancient remedy and handed it to Eugene.

Eugene looked puzzled. "What are you doing?"

William grinned, "I gave gifts to Fiona and Jasmine. Today, it's your turn."

Jasmine jumped in, anxious. "When did you give me a gift? And my mom too? Are you seriously counting my job at Rose Corporation and my mom's $7 billion investment as gifts?"

Eugene eyed the yellowed paper, still confused. "What is this?"

William explained, "You're the big pharma guy in Starlight City. This is an ancient remedy. If you use it, it could boost your company's market share like crazy."

Eugene held the paper, frowning. If anyone else had handed him an ancient remedy, he might've been curious enough to check it out. But coming from unreliable William? No way.

William had just shown up with that ridiculous ointment. Eugene didn't buy for a second that William had an ancient remedy that could skyrocket his company's market share.

Ancient remedies were so rare that if they got out, it could cause chaos in all of Starlight City. And William just handed it over like it was nothing?

Looking at the old, yellowed paper, Eugene wanted to toss it right then and there, let alone open it.

But Fiona stepped in, "It's a nice gesture from William. Just accept it."

Eugene held back and stuffed it in his pocket. "Alright."

Little did he know, William had just handed him an ancient remedy worth hundreds of billions.

Jasmine was just starting her job at Rose Corporation, and her friends were throwing a dinner party to celebrate her and Cassidy's new gigs.

Fiona wanted William to get in with Jasmine's crowd, so she asked Jasmine to take him along.

But Jasmine shot that down immediately. No way was she taking William to the dinner party. He'd just embarrass her in front of her friends. Everyone would know her family had such a loser.

After dinner, Eugene left the villa to go for a walk. He couldn't stand being around William.

Since he couldn't get rid of William, Eugene just avoided him.

While strolling along the paths of the villa community, Eugene absentmindedly reached into his pocket. "What's this?" he murmured.

He pulled out the ancient remedy William had given him. Seeing it made him even angrier. He tossed it on the ground and walked off.

Not long after, a group of people came strolling by. Leading them was an elderly man and a middle-aged guy.

The middle-aged guy was Eugene's arch-rival, Timothy Hayes, another pharma giant who'd been stuck in Eugene's shadow for years, always second best.

Next to Timothy was an elder with some serious clout, the vice president of the Starlight Medicine Association, Gavin Smith.

The two were deep in discussion about a project.

Suddenly, Timothy looked down and saw a yellowed piece of paper. "Why's there trash here?"

He picked it up, planning to toss it, but then he saw a line of small text.

Timothy muttered, "Regenesis Ointment? What's this?"

Gavin nearly lost it. "What did you say? Regenesis Ointment?"

This was the exclusive ancient remedy of Alfred White, the legendary doctor from Eldoria fifty years ago! How did it end up here?
