Karina Part 2

— Do you think this is real? — Gina asks, pointing to the

TV in the office break room, where everyone gathered after a few crazy hours of work. — Do you really think they exist? Walking around normally?

There are about five lawyers spread out on spacious sofas. Behind us is a row of glass windows that give a good view of the outside of the city center building.

— Well, for as long as I can remember they have been shown in television and the internet. It seems they were discovered about seventy years ago and are very powerful — Wesley, a black man with honey brown eyes says. — Have you ever seen one of these, Karina? — he asks, as always making me included in the conversation, and also leaving my heart racing.

Lawyers are a complicated breed, and even though this is an averagesized firm, most of them still seem to see themselves as some kind of god. Except Wesley. He always smiles at me and includes me in conversations, even when I have no idea what they are talking about with their jargon and complicated cases.

  • I don't know. — I smile awkwardly and pay attention to the beings in the room.

television, without the courage to continue facing the lawyer.

I don't know how to flirt and I can't stand eye contact with men I'm interested in for more than twenty seconds without feeling like a clown.

— Persians are a mystery…

Everyone has heard of the Persians. They call themselves “Persian Elves” actually, but I'm not sure if I can believe that, since in my opinion the beings shown on the screen are more like demons, with their tails, horns and dark tattoos that take up a good part of your body. Their eyes even glow when they're angry!

Aren't elves supposed to be charming, according to literature?

— How can they say that vampires and werewolves don't exist, but

They want us to believe that these things exist somewhere? I've never met a single person who has seen one of these live and in color — Gina continues with her incredulity. She's a super tall and thin brunette who's only good at asking me for coffee, even though I'm a secretary for at least five lawyers at the same time and I don't even have time for that. — For me, this Persian elf thing is a marketing ploy to take money from the crazy fans who are after them.

The Persians are considered by many to be almost like Greek gods, with their broad, strong bodies and different features. They attract crowds of women who can't resist their charm, even though almost none of them have seen them in person.

— Most of the Persians live hidden on that super island, close to the Italy. The place is huge and yet it took them ages to find it. — Wesley strokes his beard and once again my heart skips a beat. Yeah, I have a crush on this guy, which is annoying because I don't think he sees me as anything more than a colleague, just like all the men do. — They have a very different nocturnal lifestyle, from what I read in an article once.

— Those on TV are the Dark Elves, right? — I take the courage to go in a little more into the conversation, even though Gina doesn't even turn her face to look at me. Next to her there is another blonde lawyer and they start a conversation in parallel.

  • That's right. Dark Elf is one of the only Persian elf families that live among humans. To me they are like controversial celebrities. — Wesley answers me and I feel myself blush.

Blushing easily is one of my karmas. Those damn cheeks and nose won't let me hide anything!

— It’s not for nothing that they’re called demon elves… — Gina says again join the conversation, which relieves me a little, so I don't have to answer the man less than half a meter away from me on the couch. — But isn't it strange that every week a different piece of news comes out, but no one has ever had contact with one? We even have information on the internet, but nothing very in depth. Are they mammals? Or I don’t know… do they lay eggs? — She's serious, but the blonde next to her chuckles. — Do they have their own language? Why is everyone tattooed? — Well, I think you can find out for yourself! - In

Suddenly the owner of the office, Former, a man in his fifties, enters the small room and gives us a huge scare. Everyone who had a relaxed posture becomes tense. Former is a legendary lawyer and everyone always wants to suck up to him. — Wesley and Gina, you're going to the Dark Elf mansion in an hour — he says simply and makes my eyes widen.

The Dark Elf mansion is always shown from the outside, never from the inside.

  • Are you serious?! — Gina exclaims.

— I received the call just now, it seems like they want us hire, but only if we go in person — Former explains and piques my curiosity even more. — And Miss Choi, you will come along to provide support and get whatever is needed.

Then my face heats up even more.

I? Meeting an elf?! What God me help!
