The Dark Elf mansion

Karina

The Dark Elf mansion is in a different world than what I'm used to, either from where I grew up or here in Red Town, this gigantic city that I moved to a few months ago together with Oliver to the apartment left by his parents.

The elves' house has two floors and a giant garden, full of flower beds that I've never seen so colorful in my life. It took us about ten minutes to get there by car.

As soon as we finally knock on the door of the mansion, Gina, who came all the way in the car betting that no elves would show up, shakes her head and rolls her eyes as if to say “I told you so”, because we are greeted by a human girl. .

Wesley introduces us to her and I notice the woman surreptitiously evaluating him, which leaves me with a bad feeling. It's horrible to have to face it, anyone can maintain more eye contact than me, and I simply can't show that I'm truly interested.

I'm not sexy, just a girl who works like crazy for as long as she can remember and has terrible self-esteem.

— Welcome, you three. Please come in — says the employee and we follow her, while I try to stop the pang of jealousy inside me and take in my surroundings.

The sofas in the living room are wide and spacious, with a blanket of something very soft and white on top. They even have a fireplace! With bricks on the outside and everything!

— Will we be welcomed by any of the Dark Elves? — Gina is a dick ask and she seems completely crazy to find a demon elf, looking everywhere like Sherlock Holmes himself, something I also kind of do, but I'm not proud of.

Is there one of those giant horned beings around here, lurking for us? I think I would die of my heart.

— All the family members are busy and they prefer that I deal with these matters. You know how it is… they are a very reserved family —

he explains and I can almost hear Gina mentally cursing. As for me, I feel relieved.I'm definitely not ready to meet an elf.—But I will go over the case to you in detail, don't worry.

  • Oh yes! Alright then — Wesley says and goes ahead, walking towards the sofas that are pointed.

I follow him and breathe in the smell of the house, kind of earthy and natural.

There's even a little mint in the aromas. It's like being in a forest.

Dark Elves clearly like luxury, but not that slick black and white style that people call “clean”. Their home has life, prints and warm colors that match each other.

However, they also have stuffed animal heads, which is bad, and paintings displayed proudly that would make my friend Oliver very happy, for sure.

They look like those Renaissance paintings, but instead of the man being the center, there are tall beings, with dark tails, horns and muscular bodies. A chill runs down my spine and I just can't tear my eyes away.

If I were passing by, it would just be common pictures of forests and fields. But up close like this, I can notice the amount of fire and the angry expressions of the illustrated figures, the long fangs and claws. The more I analyze them, the stranger they seem, the more otherworldly.

— Are you listening, Karina?! Are you taking notes? — Gina calls

I suddenly catch my attention and I swallow hard and jump a little because I let myself get distracted and ended up stopping in my tracks.

— I-yes, you can talk — I stutter, embarrassed, and look at the brunette who is welcoming us.

With speed, I run to the sofas where they are already, take the notebook and pen from my bag and open them on a clean page. Normally I write everything down on my notebook, however, they searched us and took all our electronic devices right at the entrance to the mansion.

— Everything I'm going to say is extremely exclusive and it's important that nothing leak, that's why you signed that confidentiality agreement at the entrance, to prevent any setbacks. — The employee looks at each of us with a much stricter tone than she has used so far.

What will it tell us that is so important?

— Nothing will be leaked out of here, don’t worry — the lawyer he assures me and I give a short, positive nod.

  • That is good. As I was saying, the last office I

Dark Elf family dealt with was not paying attention to all their demands. But a family acquaintance recommended Mr. Former and said that he opened an office a few years ago that would certainly be able to solve the problems we have. In fact, I thought Mr. Former would come today…

— Unfortunately he couldn't attend, but don't worry, sir.

Former will inspect all our activities — Gina explains, assuming a mask of cordiality.

The truth is that Former almost never takes cases, he travels a lot and no longer seems interested in practicing law. However, I am sure that in this case he will keep an eye on it.

— That's good, it will make my superiors happier — the employee

he states and takes out some papers from a bag.

— We are here to do whatever is necessary! — Wesley assures and they start the discussion.

Klaus

Someone holds me by the hair at the base of my neck, inserting sharp claws and keeping my head submerged in the water. I struggle and several bubbles come out of my mouth, along with my muffled screams, but it's no use.

I'm drowning and my lungs burn like hell, it's just no worse than my two hands. They are so damaged black, their flesh is twisted in a cruel way, and the pain I feel is the worst thing that has ever happened to me. It's heartbreaking and makes me wish I were dead.

I'm crying out to be taken now, ready to go somewhere else, where this pain doesn't exist, when suddenly a pair of brown eyes appear, they're elongated and remind me of two waning moons.

Then I see a pink mouth, soft, voluminous and so seductive... that makes some of the pain subside. I don't know how, but this vision brings me peace.

Until I hear a meow.
