"Sorry... I didn't mean that," I admitted, lowering my head. I think I went a little overboard.

Kayler put the note back in the box and rubbed his face afterward. Maybe it was just me, but he looked tired; I didn't like seeing him like that, he seemed tormented.

"I know it's hard," he looked at me. "It's only your first year, believe me, you were the last person I wanted to go through this. But I thought you'd make the minimum effort to get used to it... For me," he looked at me with disappointment.

Something settled in my chest. I'm such an idiot.

"Kayler..." I approached him. "... I... I love you, you know that, right? But there are certain things that overwhelm me," I looked into his eyes. "I just wanted to be with you and for us to be at peace. Without problems. But now, with what I did, now..." I didn't even know how to say it.

"Shhh, don't say it," he hurried to me. "I know it's hard, I understand you more than anyone, but I need you to trust me, okay? I need you to do it," he asked.

"I trust you, Kayler, I just forgot to tell you, okay?" I confessed.

He raised his hands, cupping my face in them.

"It's okay," he kissed my forehead. "I'll go with the pack, we have something to do."

"Sure."

Kayler took my hand, and we walked down the hallway together. He was dressed in his perfect T-shirt that clung to his body, his black hair disheveled, giving him a super sexy look, a total bad boy full of mysteries.

We got into the elevator, staying silent the whole time. When we stepped out onto the street, the sun hit my face; it wouldn't be cloudy today, it seemed.

"Aren't you going to class?" I asked.

"No, maybe later."

I nodded, raising my eyebrows. It seemed he never attended, but well, only he knew his ways.

"See you later then," I said goodbye, wanting to turn around, but he took my arm first and pressed his lips to mine. His kiss was soft, slow, as if he was trying to tell me he needed me. I responded in kind. He caressed my cheek, making my skin tingle.

"Take care," he whispered between the kiss, separating from me, giving me a quick glance before turning and getting into his car. I waited for him to leave, waving goodbye.

Once his car was out of sight, I resumed my walk to the university.

"Well, well, look who we have here," a female voice made me turn to my left, where that same blonde and presumptuous girl approached me. "How have you been, Carolina?" she asked boldly.

I think her name is Tara or Perla, I don't know and I don't care. I rolled my eyes at her presence.

"Do you need something?" I wanted to know, my annoyance evident in my voice. I didn't stop; I kept walking.

"Nothing, I just wanted to say hi for a bit," she replied.

Yeah, right.

"You've done that, now you can leave," I snapped, adjusting my bag strap.

"Does it bother you that I talk to you?" she feigned offense.

"Not really," I gave her a quick look. "It just bothers me that you're here, that's all."

"How aggressive," she murmured.

"Seriously, what do you want?" I finally stopped to look at her, crossing my arms.

"Let's just say I find it fun, it's entertaining to see you angry, and from what I see, the issue with Kayler makes you much worse," she taunted. That tensed me up, and maybe she was right.

"What are you talking about now?" I mocked.

She smirked.

"Nothing that can't be fixed, just tell your boyfriend to stop looking for me at night. It's really creepy that he stands in front of your window to see if he can catch you in a somewhat... provocative position," she said. I looked at her expectantly, frowning.

Did she just say Kayler stands in front of her window at night? "Stop making up nonsense," I snapped.

"They're not lies. I mean, the next time I see him, I'll have to go out and ask what he wants with me, although I admit I do like your boyfriend a lot."

I felt my blood boiling; I clenched my fists, wanting to hit something or someone, but I had to control myself. But it's so hard.

"You're a..." I stopped abruptly, as I felt my eyes changing color, taking on an animal form, but I acted quickly and shut them tight, though I think this girl had seen enough to notice something odd.

I looked at her.

"Wow... what was that?" she laughed nervously. "Are you on drugs or something?" Good, it seemed she didn't suspect anything.

"Go to hell," I growled, walking away decisively.

I started walking towards the university entrance; other students were already arriving. It looked crowded. At the entrance, I saw a small altar in honor of Dereck. I couldn't help but look for a split second, but then guilt made me turn away, enter the university, and find the nearest bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror, feeling my hands trembling. My body felt hot, more than usual. I needed to get out and vent in the fresh air. I needed something cold to take away the burning sensation.

I turned on the faucet, splashing water on my face and arms, but it didn't help. Then something inside me ignited—I needed to transform, that was it. I left the bathroom as quickly as I could, going down the stairs to the back patio door. The good thing about the backyard was that no one used it, and I could get into the woods. I opened the door, dropped my bag on the ground, and immediately took a long jump, feeling the transformation quickly.

I landed on all fours and started running as fast as I could. I was angry, hurt, sad, and confused. I didn't know why Kayler went to that stupid girl's house, didn't know what to do about Dereck, didn't know what to think about the person who knew about me. But I also didn't know what I would do. I didn't know what all these new problems would bring for Kayler and me.

The forest was lonely, foggy, and dark. Typical of a forest, but I wanted to be alone; that's what I wanted. But what I wanted most was to vent my fury on something. I felt my hair standing on end, which was noticeable. I didn't know what to do, and then, without being able to control it, I howled as loudly as I could.

KAYLER.

"Okay, you can use the house whenever you want," Frederick handed me the keys to the new house he had bought. It was in the middle of the forest, only half an hour from the university.

In the forest, the gray clouds were always noticeable, there was fog, and it seemed to be calm. I didn't like Carolina being with that Rafael guy, and it had to be that name. Thinking that she must be in class with him right now makes my blood boil.

"Do you want me to go get the car?" Darren asked.

I had sent him to buy a car for Carolina; it would be good for her to have a way to get around. "Fine, I need it before Carolina gets out of class," I looked at my watch; it was still early. Darren nodded.

The house was big, not what I was used to, but it was the only property in this place. I had seen it well; it had a sufficiently large living room, four bedrooms on the second floor, a spacious terrace, and a perfect kitchen for us. Everything was fine.

"What do you know about the guy named Rafael?" I leaned on my car.

"He started two years ago," Frederick replied. "To be honest, I've never seen him have lunch with a student."

"Don't get mad, Brown, but I think he likes your girl," Darren added. I clenched my fists. I already knew that, it was obvious.

"Rafael seems a bit strange to me," Kevin commented, who had been quiet until now. "He's hiding something, I know it."

Yes, I thought so too; there's something strange about him that makes me distrust him. A howl in the distance alerted us; it sounded desperate and angry. I immediately got up, knowing who it was. It was Carolina, but was she transformed? Did something happen?

"Who is it?" Kevin wanted to know.

"Carolina. We have to go find her," I informed them. "Split up, I'll go to the front, and you look on the sides," I ordered. They nodded, getting up too. In less than three seconds, we transformed; it had been days since I had done it, and then I realized how much I needed it.

I hurried, trying to figure out where she was. Hoping she wouldn't do something worse. The others split up, looking elsewhere. I ran through the forest, jumping over logs, dodging branches. But nothing. I stopped abruptly to listen for any sound. Everything was silent until growls to my right made me turn my head that way.

I started running immediately, arriving at a flat area. There she was, a white wolf with blue spots, and she looked angry. But Frederick was also there with her.

"Calm down, don't you remember me?" he asked.

"I don't know you," she replied, jumping on him. "Leave me alone!"

Frederick wanted to defend himself, but he couldn't; he knew that if he hurt her, he'd have to answer to me. So I immediately approached them.

"Carolina, stop!" I exclaimed.

She stopped to look at me, somewhat surprised, but then returned to her attack position.

"Don't talk to me," she snapped, giving me a quick glance before turning and starting to run. I followed immediately, and I admit she was faster than me this time.

I didn't even know why she was angry now. Carolina was far ahead, so much so that I lost sight of her, but we were arriving at a somewhat familiar place to me. It was the back yard of the university. I stopped abruptly when I saw her further ahead, now human. But there was someone else with her, someone who wrapped her in a blanket because her body was naked.

Rafael.

I felt my blood boiling, wanting to kill that bastard for touching my girlfriend. Damn him, he'd pay for this, I swear. I wanted to go over there and rip his hands off. I could hear perfectly.

"Rafael, it's not what you think," she told him.

"Don't worry, I already knew," he replied.

I hesitated, how did that bastard know what we were? Now, even more, I had to keep an eye on Rafael; there was something wrong with him, and he was after my girlfriend. I only knew one thing: that guy wouldn't be breathing for much longer.
