5: In the Village

The two headed into the village seeing all the merchants lining the streets. Zamiyah looked over to her sister still not sure what they were here for exactly. “What are we here for?”

“I need a few things is all.” Layla just wanted to grab a few things that she could practice within the comforts of her own bedroom without fear of anyone seeing it.

“Can we make this quick i want to see what you can do before they take you for your dress fitting.” Zamiyah she knew they weren’t going to get much free time with this ball coming up and the urgency of them needing her to be perfect since she was representing the family.

Layla rolled her eyes glancing over at her sister. She knew her sister was definitely the troublemaker of the family. “Yes, I will try and make this as quick as possible so we can do something before my fitting.”

“Thank you.” Zamiyah smiled she was glad she was going to get to have some more sister tie with her.

“Always,” Layla said she was always going to do whatever she could to make her siblings happy.

She walked the isles grabbing a few things that would come in handy. Matches water bottles balloons.

“Is he following us?” Zamiyah said glazing behind her and seeing the dude who was at the lake was right behind them.

“Zamiyah,” Layla warned she didn’t have time for anything else that was going on.

“He is right behind us he shouldn’t be if we gave up our secret spot for him Layla.” She didn’t get how he could ruin their sister's time taking their secret spot and then following them through the market like some stalker.

Layla looked behind her realizing her sister was right about Jonah being behind them. “Be nice.” She wasn’t sure if her sister was right or not but she didn’t want to be bothered with it.

Jonah walked over to them grabbed one of the flowers off the table handed the merchant a bag of gold and winked to the merchant. Before handing the flower over to Layla. “Your sister doesn’t like many people does she?”

Layla rolled her eyes smirking and smelling the flower she knew her sister had a point they were girls and being followed wasn’t a good feeling. “No she doesn’t but again she is right are you following us.”

“A beautiful girl like you why would i do such a thing.” Jonah chuckled he found her intriguing which is why he had followed her. He wasn’t sure what it was but something told him to get to know her.

“Flirting won’t get you anywhere with me.” Layla warned she had other things to worry about and a guy was definitely the last thing, especially with the thing with the prince that was coming up.

“It was worth a try wasn’t it.” Jonah smiled.

“What do you want?” Layla asked.

“Your different i don’t get why.” He wanted to know why she was different why he had wanted to follow her and learn about what was going on.

“She is not different she just doesn’t bend backwards to make things happen.” Zamiyah knew being different was the last thing her sister wanted to be called. Especially since being different in this kingdom was the last thing anyone wanted because it could lead to them being detained or worse killed. “Can we go now i want to get home you have someone to impress or not impress we both know you can’t care less”

“Which is why I’m taking my sweet precious time to get to this dress fitting.” Layla knew her parents knew she didn’t care about it and that she could get away with being out because she was her sister. And her parents wanted her to have sister time with her.

Zamiyah scoffed she knew why her sister was taking her sweet time. It was because she didn’t want anything to do with this ball. “Because you really don’t want to go and you are being forced like every other girl your age because who wants to marry a stuffy prince.”

“Zamiyah manors we don’t know him to be making fun of him.” Layla was nice and kind and she knew that was the way for them to go that was how they would get through life because being mean wasn’t going to get them anywhere through life.

Zamiyah looped her arm through her sister leaning against her sister. She didn’t care about the prince's feelings to her they were always selfish jerks. And they didn’t care about anything else but them. “He’s a prince and you don’t think there is a chance he will be stuffy, mean, and a jerk.”

“We don’t judge people Maya you know that.” Layla scolded she didn’t want to be judged so she made sure her siblings knew not to judge others.

Zamiyah sighed she knew that she was right but she was scared that if her sister met the prince there was a chance she would see the good in him and then she would lose her sister. “Fine i hope he’s nice but i don’t want you to get picked. I don’t want to lose you.”

“Hey listen to me if they take me you guys are right with me you understand me.” Layla took her sister's hand looking her sister in the eye, she wanted to make sure that her sister was listening to her on this. She was never going to abandon any of them. “I will never leave you guys.”

Zamiyah agreed she wanted to be with her sister no matter what happened. “Good because if i can’t come i can’t promise that i won’t hurt anyone.”

“We don’t threaten people Maya.” Layla reminded.

“Right we are nice we listen and sit quietly.”

“That is not what i am asking.” Layla didn’t say they had to sit quietly but being nice never hurt anyone.

Zamiyah rolled her eyes she knew what her sister was saying and honestly she was happy that she saw the best in everyone, she simply didn’t want to worry about her sister getting hurt“Right you are asking me not to do anything stupid i won’t if they won’t.”

“That my sister i can work with because i have no plans of becoming the next queen Maya and i am going to stay off to the side and pretend that i’m not even there in the first place.” Layla smiled slightly she seen no difficulty in having to stay away from anyone and pretend like she wasn’t there in the first place. “Stay to a wall pretend i don’t exist amongst the thousands of others that will be there.”

Zamiyah laughed shaking her head she found it amusing that her sister thought she could be invisible when she knew there was no way that was possible. “I wish you luck you my sister stick out like a swore thumb.”

“I know.” Layla nodded.

“Yeah and you think a few thousand girls are going to help that i don’t know what dream you are living,” Zamiyah said she knew her sister was special and there was no way someone would simply look over her like she wasn’t even there.

“Can we just let it be a nice dream i don’t want to think about it i want to go to the fitting and then i want to do other things to get my mind off of this.” Like see how far she could take her power and what she was able to do and not do with it. “Maybe see what new moves i can do in the pool something to get my mind off of this.”

“Fine, it’s dropped.” Zamiyah promised for now she would let her sister have peace.

“Thank you, Maya.” Layla smiled.

“Yeah yeah, no problem.”

“Now i just need one more thing and then we can head home.” Layla went and grabbed a few more things before pulling her sister away from the market.

“He totally was eyeing you.” Zamiyah whispered.

“ZAMIYAH!” Layla warned she didn’t want to worry about guys right now.

“What it was the truth.”
