7: The fitting
Layla and Zamiyah walked back into their home heading into the living room and seeing there parents sitting with a seamstress. Layla and Zamiyah both sighed knowing they were going to have to wait before they could have time to themselves. “We’re back.”
“Good Maya why don’t you go and put those things in your sister's room so we can get started,” Liana asked she knew they needed to quickly get this done so when the ball happened it would be ready.
“Of course.” Zamiyah took the bag from her sister nodding to her parents and heading upstairs to her sister’s room.
“Alright Romona is going to take you to start your fitting and you can go over the design and whatever you would like your dress to look at with her.” Liana knew this was her choice how she wanted this to go and since she didn’t want to be there. She figured it was only fair to let her daughter have a say in what she would be wearing. “You are an adult and are old enough to decide what you would like to wear on your own.”
“Thank you mom.” Layla was excited she was getting to choose what it was she was going to wear since she wanted to do her best not to be noticed by another.
“Of course. Why don’t you show her to the office so she can get started.” Liana knew this was going to be a tedious affair and knew the faster they started the faster they would finish.
“Yes mother,” Layla said taking a breath she hoped this went as smoothly as it could. “You can follow me, Romona.” She led her to the office opening the door and letting her walk through before closing it behind her. “Where would you like to start?”
“Why don’t you have a seat and we can go over what you would like your gown to look like?” Romona suggested she knew it was the best way for them to start and for her to get a clear idea of what she was going to be working with.
“Of course.” Layla went over to the chair using her hands to smooth the back of her dress before taking a seat.
“So what is your idea for the dress?” Romona knew most women had a vision of what they wanted to look like for a special occasion. And after all what was more special than a ball that was dedicated to finding the crowned prince a wife?
“I want something simple definitely blue or orange.” She didn’t want to stick out but if she was going to show off she was showing off with the elements that she controlled. Like her sister said she would still be noticed and she didn’t want to look like she simply threw something on when she was representing her family. “I want it off the shoulder I don’t want it to be to wild more tame and fitted.”
“I can work with that how about something off-shoulder ice blue fabric with like simple orange suns covering the dress? Make it look like a sky with tons of ball of light.” Romano said she loved the vision and could certainly imagine her wearing this dress. It would surely look beautiful on her. The ice blue against her pale skin the splash of orange contrasting with her amber eyes.
“Balls of fire.” Layla corrected she wanted to make that clear what it should look like.
“I like it.” Romano started to sketch the dress turning to show her what it looked like. Slim-fitting ice blue fabric with amber balls of fire scattered throughout the design. “This fits you.”
“You think?” Layla asked she wasn’t sure if she was taking it to far with this idea.
“I know.” Romona assured she knew this was going to be perfect on her. “Now let us start the sizing we want this to fit you like a glove.” She grabbed her plastic measuring tape motioning for Layla to stand up. “When i am done with you the prince won’t know what hit him.”
“I hope not.” Layla murmured it was the last thing she wanted being noticed by the prince not on her to-do list.
