Chapter 7

"Full speed ahead captain. We're almost at the harbor." One of the shipmates said.

"I hear you loud and clear mate. You get ready to drop the anchor." Kent said.

"Full speed ahead." A shipmate shouted.

"Oh thank heavens," Beth said happily.

"Why're you so beamed?" Lilith asked with curiosity.

"I'm going to see my family and all my other friends. I am so happy." She said with a wide smile on her face.

"That sounds nice." Beth did with a small smile. Her face drooped down a bit because she missed her mother so much and her friends too but she had to stay here and win her mate.

"Are you okay darling? I noticed you didn't look so happy. Is it something I said?" Beth asked worriedly.

"I was just thinking about my family and my friends. I just miss them a little while a lot."

"You'll get to see them soon though. We're on our way to New Ford right now. Don't fret."

"..."

"Oh my. I'm so sorry. I don't remember what happened to you. I feel like a bad person now for yapping about mine."

"No, it's all right."

"I- I'm sorry Lilith I shouldn't have reminded you about it."

"Sometimes I just look at the dock and I see them drowning again. Each time reliving that incident." Lilith lied smoothly.

"I'm sorry about that Lilith and I can't imagine how it is for you right now."

Guilt gnawed at Lilith seriously. She didn't want to lie to her friend but she had to get her well-being.

They sat down in a comfortable silence under the sunset.

The sun reflected on Lilith's face making her look ethereal. Her golden mane of hair glittered in the sunlight and her smooth skin. Her eyes shine brightly and her smile could make a thousand men fall to their knees.

"Lilith please report to the Captain's office." A shipmate said.

"I'll be right back Beth."

"No problem darling."

Lilith walks to Kent's office, her heart racing in anticipation.

She knocked slowly on the door. "May I come in Sir?"

"Yes." A deep voice sounded.

Lilith opened the door slightly, entering inside slowly and marveling at his space yet again.

Kent sat down in the chair in all his glory. His hair pushed back today and the slight stubble on his chin made him look more attractive than ever. His biceps flexed in the shirt he wore as he signed documents and wrote some things down. Lilith looked in awe and surprise.

"So Lilith as you may know we're heading to New Ford now and it just occurred to me that you're homeless and you never did tell me the name of the town you lived in," Kent said, suddenly breaking her daze.

"Oh um…" She stuttered.

"Is there any problem?" Kent asked.

"It's just hard saying all these things. I keep getting flashbacks of the horrible things that happened." Lilith lied again smoothly putting her face in her hands seemingly crying.

"Does this girl think I'm stupid I don't know she's lying and has been lying for the past week. She thought a shipwreck with no survivors was a solid lie." Kent thought to himself.

"It's fine don't cry." Kent consoled her, a small smile on his lips.

Lilith nodded as she cleaned her tears.

"You will be staying at my residence as you have no family to go to and I need more information to help you find where your family lives and you could go back to them," Kent said.

"Your residence?" Beth asked, her eyes twinkling.

"Yes, my residence as a guest of course I am not that bad of a man to take a victim and use her for work." Kent looked at her amusedly and at her reaction.

"Thank you, sir."

"Sir, we're close to the harbor." A voice shouted from outside.

"All right, I'll be right out."

"We're close to the harbor now and we'll be on dry land."

Beth left Kent's office and caught a glimpse of a figure watching her. It was Donna.

The look of contempt and hatred on her face was too hard to ignore. Lilith bowed slightly, walking away briskly.

"You wouldn't be that smug I'm a few days Lilith." Donna thought to herself, an evil smile playing on her lips.

A loud horn sounded.

"We have arrived at the harbor and dropped the anchor."

The ship came to the rear as a ladder was laid down to land. The maids immediately began bringing out bags and possessions and the crew removed the barrels and other items.

"Kent darling wait," Donna said walking fast to meet Kent who was standing and supervising the offloading of the ship.

As she walked to where he stood. She suddenly tripped over nothing landing in front of Kent.

"Oh! My ankle." She shouted looking at Kent with wet eyes and her bosom heaving up and down as she gazed up at him affectionately.

"Benedict, could you come and lift Miss Donna?" Kent asked, moving his face away from the woman who lay at his feet.

"Don't worry I think I can stand by myself." She said angrily, swatting Benedict's hand away from her.

"Kent may I ask you where that slut of a maid is going to stay at?" Donna asked noisily.

"I do not know who or what you speak of."

"I'm talking about the new maid Lilith."

"I doubt that's any of your business but if you must know she'll be staying at my residence," Kent answered.

"Can I stay at your place too? I think. my fathers are currently swamped with work. It would be a hassle to be with him and do absolutely nothing." She asked, blinking her eyes rapidly.

Kent frowned in disgust. "No."

The smile on Donna's face immediately turned upside down as she heard that.

"So you really won't let me stay at your residence maybe because I'll be disturbing you and your thing?"

"Precisely." He said with a warm smile.

Donna grounded her teeth as she began to shout at the harbor.

"I said I wanted to come with you. Why won't you let me come with you?" She stomped her feet angrily, her face turning a shade of red.

"Good day Donna," Kent said, walking away from her.

"Kent please I love you and I want to be with you," Donna shouted.

"I'm sorry to say Donna but you'll have to kill your one-sided affection. I do not love you and I never will."

Donna stood in shock watching Kent's back.

"Carriage please send Miss Donna and one of her staff back to her father's residence. She is not in a good condition and I urge you to take good care of her."

"Will do, sir." The carriage man said.

"I would make you and your little slut regret everything you've said and done. Mark my words Kent." Donna huffed angrily.

She entered the carriage roaring profanities to the carriage and more at Kent and unspeakable words to Lilith who wasn't even present at the time.

"I'll make you regret this, Kent." She shouted as the carriage drove away.
