Chapter 5 Mistaken Son, Right Mother

Seraphina's Perspective:

Four Years Later.

I stepped off the plane, holding my adorable kids' hands, coming back to a place that only brought me pain. There was no sense of homecoming, just a deep-seated resentment.

This time, I was back to make those people from four years ago pay, to seek justice for myself and revenge for Amy! I also needed to find my lost child, Charles Vale.

Not long after I escaped back then, I found out I was pregnant. After a lot of thinking, I decided to keep them. At that time, I couldn't show my face and had to hide everywhere, only daring to give birth in an unlicensed clinic.

After Charles was born, the doctor who delivered him disappeared with him. I was frantic but had to endure the excruciating pain of giving birth to Lucas Vale and Saki Vale alone. I searched the clinic with my two babies in my arms, but I never saw that masked doctor again.

I was deceived! That must have been a heartless human trafficker!

I cried painfully, but Cecilia was still looking for me. I had to leave with my two children to protect them.  After hiding them in a safe place, I went to look for Charles again, but there was no trace of him. It's been four years since then.

I didn't know if Charles was still alive, but I would never give up searching for him.

"Mom, we'll definitely find Charles," Saki, my wise daughter, noticed my emotions and gently tugged at my hand.

Hearing Saki's innocent voice, my heart softened. I picked her up and kissed her rosy cheek. "Saki, don't worry. I'm fine. I know Charles is out there somewhere, waiting for us to find him."

"Okay." Saki nuzzled against me like a little furry kitten, making my heart melt.

Suddenly, I felt Lucas, who I was holding, get bumped. I looked over and saw ice cream stains on his white shirt. The culprit had already walked away with their head down.

Judging by their height, they were about the same age as my kids.

If Charles were still with me, he would be about that tall.

Thinking of this, I felt a strange sense of familiarity with that small figure.

"Mom just bought you that shirt, and you already got it dirty," Saki teased, wriggling out of my arms with a mischievous grin. "Watch out, or Mom will spank you."

Lucas, hearing this, moved closer to Saki as if intending to dirty her clothes too.

Saki giggled, hiding behind me.

I took out a tissue to wipe Lucas's shirt, planning to clean it properly at the hotel, but the more I wiped, the dirtier it got.

"Mom, wait here. I'll go change my shirt," Lucas said, pulling away and heading to the restroom.

Lucas was incredibly smart for his age, so I didn't stop him. I just reminded him not to wander off.

Lucas's Perspective:

I changed my shirt in the restroom and was about to leave.

"Alex, there you are! Come with us. Mr. Everhart is very worried about you!" A burly man approached, trying to grab my hand.

"Who are you?" I was startled and dodged his hand.

"Alex. Why don't you stutter?" The man looked puzzled.

"Alex? I'm not Alex. My mom is waiting for me. I need to go," I retorted, trying to dodge past him.

But the man grabbed my arm, looking exasperated. "Stop joking around. You are Alex. Come with us. If Mr. Everhart gets angry, it won't end well for any of us."

They didn't seem to be lying. Could it be that I look a lot like this Alex, and they mistook me for him? Was there really someone who looked exactly like me? This was interesting. I wanted to see him.

So, I stopped struggling and obediently followed them out.

Alex's Perspective:

I hid in the restroom for a long time until I was sure I had shaken off my father's men. Only then did I come out feeling relieved.

I never wanted to go back to deal with that awful woman! No way!

Just then, a warm little hand grabbed mine, startling me. I turned to see a little girl who looked a lot like me, smiling at me.

She asked, "Why are you so slow? Were you sneaking some snacks in there?"

Looking at the little girl's big, round eyes, I felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

"No."

I was surprised by my voice. Usually, I wouldn't say I like talking to people, let alone strangers.

My cheeks felt hot, and I shook off her hand, planning to leave.

But before I could take a step, a beautiful, gentle woman picked me up.

"Alright, stop teasing Lucas. What do you want for dinner? Should we go to the supermarket?" she asked.

Her sweet scent enveloped me like warm water, and her soft voice was like a cool summer breeze, making me want to get closer.

"Yay! I want chips!" the little girl cheered.

I couldn't help but follow them out, feeling a sense of home, even though I didn't know where we were going.

"Lucas, your shirt feels so nice," the little girl said as we walked out, touching the hem of my shirt and pressing her forehead against my face. "I don't remember you having this shirt. Did you steal my allowance to buy it?"
