Second Mistake
I feel nervous, for some reason I feel uneasy. I know this is one of my bad attitudes, namely overthinking. That is the reason why my parents always worry about me.
Drrrttt... drrrttt
My phone vibrated again, I received an incoming message from Diana and Kimberly. It seemed their conversation was still continuing. Seeing how my new friends and I got along quickly made me happy.
"Soraya, how is your roommate? Does she still not want to talk to you?" Diana asked. I really didn't expect that Diana would be so caring like this.
"She's really like a mother." I thought. A smile spread across my lips.
"Yes, we've talked to each other. I was heading to the market to buy dinner and snacks. Kerry even asked me to buy some things for her." Type me on my phone.
"Really? Thank goodness. I hope you two can get to know each other better." Diana said. She even added a happy smiling emoticon to the message she sent.
"No no, that's not good. What was that? Why did she just order you like that?" In contrast to Diana who is super positive, Kimberly is the opposite. She likes to be prejudiced and tends to be cautious before deciding that something or someone is worthy of trust.
Reading the message Kimberly sent made me frown. I didn't know that for Kimberly, asking for help from someone you just met was forbidden.
"Do you mind? Isn't that normal?" Diana asked, right before I asked the same thing.
"Wasn't she very quiet at first and didn't let you approach her? So, why is she suddenly acting so friendly with you? This is strange, you have to be wary of her." Kimberly said.
I confirmed what Kimberly said, when suddenly Kerry Smith spoke to me and asked me to buy something at the market. I felt a little surprised, especially since a few minutes earlier it was very clear what the look on the blonde girl's face was when I accidentally saw her personal items.
"Let me help!"
"No need, I'll just-"
"It's okay, you can arrange your clothes in the cupboard. Let me take care of this part!"
"No! Let me just-"
"But- "
My mind immediately went to the time when I did something stupid and acted all familiar. I felt very embarrassed and a little sorry because I had made a bad first impression on my roommate.
"You idiot! I'm really stupid. Besides, why would I force myself to help her if she doesn't want to? Tsk, I'm so pathetic." I muttered as I entered a convenience store across from the campus dormitory.
"WELCOME?" A young man with brown hair who was standing in front of the cashier's desk greeted me with a smile.
Seeing the young man's face, I looked confused. I know this handsome young man with a wide, very friendly smile. To be honest, I felt a little impressed, but seeing the uniform the athletic young man was wearing, I couldn't help but laugh.
"David? What are you doing here? Hahaha...your uniform? Maybe you work in this shop, huh?" Without thinking, I immediately approached David, who still hadn't let go of his sweet smile.
"Can I help you, Miss?" David asked. His eyes looked at me intensely. Seeing David's strange behavior made me smile in amusement.
"Hahaha...what's gotten into you, huh?"
"As you can see, I work here. So, like it or not, I have to act like this with customers. Especially customers who are very beautiful like you!"
"You're teasing me?"
"You mind?"
"Hahahaha...you're really funny! If Kimberly saw you here she would definitely faint. Alright, I want to buy something. I'll be right back!" I said as I walked towards the shelf containing bread.
"Okay, don't be too long! I'll wait for you here!"
"You don't have to wait for me!" I said as I walked towards the food shelf.
David couldn't hide his happy smile, meanwhile I returned to the cashier's desk after taking several items I needed including items ordered by Kerry Smith.
"Hi, I'm back!" I smiled awkwardly as I put the basket on the table. My sweet smile seemed to make David embarrassed.
David placed the items I bought on the table before counting them and putting them in a plastic bag. Even though his hands were working deftly, his eyes were still fixed on me.
"So, how's your roommate? No complaints, right?" David asked, it seemed he was quite curious about what happened to me after reading the message in the chat group that somehow made him join without realizing it.
"You've joined the group, haven't you? I didn't expect you to want to too!"
"Actually, I'm not that interested, but since you're joining too, so it can't be helped." David said. He said frankly that I was the reason for joining the chat group which only had five members.
I choked before I burst out laughing at David's answer. Even though it was funny to me, my insensitivity seemed to make me unable to respond to David's teasing as I should.
"Hahahaha...you really want to make me laugh, don't you?"
"Not really. It's just that you seem to be the type who laughs easily, right?"
"Hmm...you want to say that my sense of humor is bad, is that it?"
"Maybe!"
"You're annoying! Ok, how much did I spend in total?"
"The total is 12 Pounds, is there anything else extra, Miss Soraya Chamberlain?"
"No, thank you. Here's the money and change, just take it! See you?" I handed the money into David's hands before walking away carrying two plastic bags.
"Hey, you don't have too much money!"
"Is that so? Hahaha..."
My laughter stopped when my head and body hit someone in front of me. I was careless again and made the same mistake again.
"I-I'm sorry! I really didn't mean to-" I stopped when I saw who was standing in front of me.
My eyes widened and I naturally took a few steps back. I'm at a loss for words because this is the second time I bump into and run into the same person, namely the cold and super mysterious lecturer, Levi William Stanley.
"It seems like you have a habit of walking less than normal, huh?" Levi asked with a sharp gaze that could make someone in front of him flinch.
"I-I'm sorry, sir! I'm really sorry!"
