Raxon’s threats

Prince Greg’s POV

Finally, the leader lay still, unconscious or dead, I didn’t care which.

I stood up, breathing heavily, and surveyed the scene.

The other rogues were either unconscious or had fled, the ones who could still move dragging their injured comrades away.

I turned to Anna, my heart still racing. She looked at me with relief, though the fear hadn’t entirely left her eyes. I reached out and gently took her hand, pulling her to her feet.

"Are you okay?" I asked, my voice softening with concern. “Are you okay?”

She nodded, her eyes glistening with fear. "Yes, thanks to you."

I pulled her into a tight embrace, feeling her body tremble against mine.

For a moment, we just stood there, holding each other amidst the aftermath of the battle. The forest was quiet, as if the trees themselves were holding their breath.

Standing before Anna, I felt an undeniable spark between us.

It was more than just physical attraction; it was something deeper, something primal.

Her eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, the world around us faded away.

I leaned closer, unable to resist the magnetic pull between us.

“You… have something to say to me?” I asked as she shuddered backwards, hitting her back against a tree.

“N-no,” she stammered with a gulp.

As I leaned in, Anna reached out and touched my hand.

The instant her skin met mine, a jolt of electricity coursed through my body, so intense that it made my breath hitch.

I could see the same shock reflected in her eyes, a silent acknowledgment of the powerful connection we shared.

My heart pounded in my chest, and I felt a warmth spreading from where our hands touched, radiating through my entire being.

It was a sensation unlike anything I had ever experienced. My instincts told me what my rational mind was still trying to grasp—Anna was my mate.

As the realization settled over me, I felt a surge of energy.

My eyes, reflecting my inner wolf, glowed a vibrant blue. I saw the same transformation in Anna; her eyes glowed a mesmerizing red, revealing her true nature.

She was a fox shifter. How was this possible?

I thought wolves could only mate with wolves. Why did my body react to hers?

I could see the confusion and wonder in her eyes, mirroring my own emotions.

We were from different worlds, different clans, yet fate had intertwined our paths in the most unexpected way.

The pull to kiss her was overwhelming, but I held myself back. This moment was too important, too profound to rush.

“You feel… it?” She asked as I tried to hold myself back.

“This is wrong,” I said, looking away at the rogues who were picking themselves up and running away. They were not a threat so I didn’t mind them.

Watching them grabbing their leader to run away was hilarious but I had to focus on the emotions at hand.

“Anna,” I said softly, my voice filled with shock. “You’re my mate?”

She nodded slowly, her eyes never leaving mine. “I feel it too, my prince.”

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. “I never expected this, and even when it feels right how would everyone around us react to it?”

I almost laughed out loud thinking about it.

Who knew that the woman sent to spy on me would be the one who I would fall for?

Her hand tightened around mine, and I could see the tears glistening in her eyes.

I pulled her into a gentle embrace, our bodies fitting together as if they had been designed for this moment.

The warmth of her body against mine was soothing, and I could feel the steady rhythm of her heartbeat matching my own.

For a long moment, we just stood there, holding each other in the quiet of the forest.

The connection between us was undeniable. We were mates, destined to be together despite the odds.

“What do we do?” She asked. “We can’t tell the king. We can’t even let anyone know? That would certainly be dangerous.”

“Stay your position as my personal guard and his spy. You have to report to him, yes?”

She nodded as I continued. “Then don’t bother about anything else. Just focus on what your job is and don’t blow your cover.”

She nodded before I held her close and pulled away.

“We need to get back to the pack before they notice we’re gone and start looking for us.”

We slowly walked back hand in hand but when we got to the edge of the forest, I let her go as I walked ahead while she walked behind me.

As my personal guard, she was not to walk by my side but behind me.

Just as we entered the palace, a guard came to us.

“My prince,” he bowed to me. “Elder Raxon seeks to speak with you.”

I nodded but before Anna could come with me the guard stopped her.

“She’s with me,” I said as the guard turned to me. “The king would like to speak with her.”

I rolled my eyes. What did my brother want with her now?

I nodded to her as I followed the guard to where the elder would be.

The umbrella he sat under gave a cool shade to all around.

I made my way to the center of the tent, where Elder Raxon sat behind a wooden table, a mug of drink in his hand. His eyes, sharp and calculating, watched me as I approached.

“You called,” I said in a rapid tone as I needed to be done with him and away.

I never liked this elder. Of all the elders I had dreamt of killing in horrible ways, he had been the top in my list.

"Prince Greg," he greeted me with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Why the long face? Sit down."

I took the seat opposite him, my posture relaxed but my senses on high alert.
