Confrontation

Prince Greg’s POV

“If the alpha finds us…” her voice shuddered to me as I held a finger to her lips.

“Let me handle this. You have nothing to fear.”

I took up my robe and put it on as I readied myself to talk with that brute I called a brother.

I glanced over at Anna, who was now wearing her lingerie, her gaze steady as she looked at me.

There was a knock at the door, and I took in deep breaths as I was ready to face Cole.

I had hoped for a quiet, private moment with Anna, but it seemed that wasn’t in the cards tonight.

I moved swiftly to the door and opened it. Standing there was Cole—the alpha of the pack.

“Greg, I thought I’d find you here,” he said as I grunted.

“And what brings you here? Doesn’t the king of the pack have anything more important to do than bother the prince in his bathhouse?”

“Clever words little brother. But watch your words or they might be your last.”

His eyes moved over my shoulder, taking in Anna’s presence, who was clad in nothing but her lingerie. His brows shot up in surprise.

“What’s going on here?” His voice was a mix of irritation and anger as he glanced between Anna and me.

I met his gaze steadily. “Anna is my assistant. She’s here to help me in whatever ways I need and that’s all you need to know.”

He pushed past me as he entered to look at her.

“You turn the fox girl into a whore? Is that what she is to you?”

I rolled my eyes. “Do you not have somewhere to be alpha?”

Cole’s eyes narrowed, and he glanced at the pool. The water, a deep, unnaturally warm blue, caught his attention. “This pool isn’t connected to any hot water source,” he said, his tone now laced with suspicion. “So, you’ve been using your powers again, haven’t you?”

I shrugged, a nonchalant gesture masking the irritation boiling beneath my calm face. “Yes, I’ve been using my magic. And?”

“A wind that uses magic, what a disappointment. This is why you will never have anything in this pack but only have the title of prince.”

“I don’t want it brother. You can be judge, jury and executioner and I still wouldn’t give a shit.”

“Be careful how you speak to me brother. You have been warned.”

He walked to the pool and laughed. “Using your magic… a werewolf should never have magic but somehow you took that side of mother with you.”

He didn’t miss a beat. “As the alpha of the pack, I have a responsibility to ensure that no magic is used within our domain. We’re supposed to keep your existence as a magical being hidden from the rest of the world. You’re carrying your mother’s magical heritage, and it’s becoming a problem.”

I felt a surge of defiance. “I don’t see why I should restrict myself because of outdated rules. I am the prince now. I have every right to use my powers as I see fit. Father married our mother who used to use her magic to help the pack.”

“Your mother! Not mine!” He countered. “My mother was a werewolf and not witch like yours was.”

I sighed. There were so many things I wanted to say but I had to keep my cool or I would end up breaking him.

His expression darkened. “You’re not just the prince of the realm; you’re part of the pack, and you have a responsibility to maintain the balance and secrecy of your powers. Your actions are drawing unwanted attention. You need to stop using magic within the pack’s territory.”

The tension in the room was high. We were both aware of the power dynamics at play. He was the alpha, a position he took seriously, while I was the prince, struggling to assert my authority and independence in the pack.

“I’ll do what I want, Cole,” I said, my voice low and unyielding. “You’re not in charge of me. I’m the prince. My decisions are my own.”

His eyes flared with anger, and his posture became more imposing. “As long as you’re part of my pack, you will follow my rules. I won’t tolerate any more of your defiance. You are to cease using your magic in this territory immediately.”

I clenched my fists, trying to keep my temper in check. “I won’t be threatened or dictated to. I have my own methods and my own reasons. If you can’t accept that, then perhaps we’re at a crossroads.”

Cole growled, a low, rumbling sound that echoed his frustration. “Don’t think this is over. You’re pushing boundaries that shouldn’t be tested. If you continue to use your magic recklessly, it will endanger not just yourself but the entire pack and frankly, I will not have it.

With that, he turned on his heel and walked away from the pool house, leaving me and Anna behind.

I took in deep breaths as I tried to hide my rage. He was beginning to get on my nerves and I would not let him control me and who I was.

He might be the alpha but I was much more than that.

“You,” I pointed to Anna. “Go away. I’ll be heading to my room now. I shall see you tomorrow.”

Suddenly I detested her. I didn’t want anything to do with her.

I watched her leave with her clothes in her hand as I turned to the wall and punched it with my hand going through it.

The entire pool house shook with cracks appearing on the wall.

I hated being told what to do.

All my life I had been told to live a certain way and act like I didn’t exist but not anymore.

This time I was going to challenge Cole.

I already knew what his game plan was and I had caught his spy. He had no hold over me.
