forming opinions

Nothing would be interesting after that. The minutes passed.

Not long afterwards, Diego and William were silent and serious, and set off in different directions, each to their own school building. Diego's parents fought seriously with the boy, saying everything they feared and imagined about the social rules they believed were necessary to keep the boy in line, but he didn't care that much. Secretly, Diego just wanted to live his life, he wanted to be able to be himself like any 18-year-old.

He didn't want to make the same mistake as his parents and end up with a marriage and future doomed to failure, as Lucas and Kelly constantly fought each other, to the horror of Diego, who believed that one day a divorce would come along. He went into his department, everything interesting and thought-provoking for him.

William entered the room and greeted the people present with a warm smile. He took his backpack off his back and took out his laptop, connected the college's data and waited. He glanced around and noticed the girls' interest with a buzz of words from the prettiest girls present, a chaos of everything at once. His mind wandered: his friend was too mysterious and quiet, and it was inconvenient for William not to know what his friend was thinking. He was wondering all the time about the situation and would soon find out.

Classes broke for lunch and William went out to buy a simple snack and think. Diego still hadn't shown up, which wasn't good. After looking around and not finding his friend,William decided to go home after the first day's lessons. The flea was behind his ear.

As the days went on, Diego and William would enter the university together and greet each other without much dialogue. Sometimes they would sit together, sometimes they would pass from one side to the other, but the situation between the two of them was difficult to talk about and get close to. Princess Sabrina started hanging out with both of them and formed an inseparable trio. She was increasingly beautiful and did her best to make everything perfect for everyone, with her bubbly and charming personality. That's how it was between them for the time being. Gradually they began to talk basic and have fun together; an old friendship like that shouldn't end.

One day, William fell ill and couldn't go to university. All that was left was Sabrina and Diego together. Since then, they've become closer, meeting both inside and outside the university, and this has made them very close and even flirtatious. The same happened with William. New students joined and became more popular: the trio's class increased, making nine people into a select and very popular group.

Everything began to heat up... Over time, Diego felt something different about Sabrina because of his closeness to her. Never before had he experienced so many feelings at once. Until one fateful day, he approached her and sat down. They needed to talk seriously; perhaps it was time to probe her feelings. He wrote her a note asking her to meet him in the university break room.

There she was, nervous but ready.

" Diego, I got your message, my love"he came hugging and jumping close to him. "what's up? Did something happen?"

" Yes and no. To be more precise... it's still going to happen. I need to know a few things..."

"What things exactly, my dear?"

" I'll try to be specific. I think I like you a lot more than friendship... I don't know how or when but I'm here..."

" Wow, that's a bit surprising... I confess I think it's cute, but..."

Diego was about to say something when they heard William's distinctive voice.

" Did I miss anything?"

" What?"

"Am I in the way?"

"No, William..." stammered a startled Sabrina. "We're talking small talk, aren't we Diego?"

" Exactly." He snorted. "we were having a conversation about science. And you ended up cutting off my friendly explanation"

"Apologies..."

"Kids, I need to eat. There'll be another class soon. We'll run out of time soon."

"Sabrina can go to lunch with Britanny. William and I will talk privately.''

"Right... see you later."

-"Bye Sabrina" said William confused

"Bye, kitten," said Diego, giving her a hug and a kiss on the forehead.

William felt a pang of jealousy when he saw this, but he didn't say anything.

Diego signaled with his finger for William to come closer and follow him to lunch.

There was a silent atmosphere between them because of what they were thinking of saying and the terrible question that occupied their hearts: what would they do if Sabrina chose the other? Could the heart be healed?

Diego suddenly wanted to talk to him. They sat down at the table, face to face.

" William, I'm very excited about everything here!"

" Me too Diego, the university is incredible, isn't it? I really liked it!"

"My course is satisfactory... And the girls here are very beautiful, aren't they?"

"True, there are lots of pretty girls here, really."

" I..." he took a deep breath and looked into Diego's green eyes "I'm thinking about a lot of things. Especially about what each of us wants. I especially want nothing to get in the way of our friendship, Diego, even if it is a woman."

" William i thinks the same. I don't want to lose your friendship. I consider you a great friend, but I'll tell you straight away: I'm not going to give up what I want..." Diego opened his eyes with a look full of passion, full of enigmas that William understood in five seconds. Diego was in love with Sabrina, and so was he. " What I want is something simple, and I'll fight to get it."

"much less me... we're on the same terms..."

If he lost Diego's friendship, his parents' business could be severely damaged, so he shut up. Diego took a red bandana out of his pocket. It was clearly a present for someone.

The business deals brokered by both families dealt with both legal and illegal ventures, which were covered up, that made a large sum of illicit money go into their pockets and that would threaten the empire.

" Think about it, William! I'm your friend, but don't wish me ill. Sabrina came here and I want to know where we stand."

" I also want to know where we stand, buddy. We need to talk seriously."

"We both need to keep the peace, William. But don't you dare get in my way."

" May the best win."

"That will seal the fate.''

Both boys got up and packed their things... with serious looks on their faces, as if they were ready for war. Which had been declared in a not very pretty way. It was a difficult situation.

A few days pass.
